i remember once in mission 25. The Forgotten wolf made a castle i had no idea how to deal with at the time. I ended up making like 1000 catapults. With one attack half of his castle vanished. CALCULATING!
There is always a way to break the wolf quickly. The two most effective ways is either siege towers or battering rams. I like to just use 4 or 5 battering rams and burrow my way through his thick walls, making short work of his defense.
@@henrry889As effective as that is, I’m still a caveman. Horse archer spam to delete anything that can shoot back, catapult spam to delete his walls and fire ballista spam to burn his army sitting in the center.
I actually think Sige Towers are actually much useful and satisfying to use My favorite combination is Siege Towers + Macemen. Once the Siege Towers are docked, I send in my Macemen to the towers to clear them of ranged units. Then the rest of my army can move in without much resistance. I could also send in ranged units of my own and use the enemy's towers.
That was done in perfect order. You explained it perfectly too. Knights cost a fortune in the beginning, but as long as your stables aren't destroyed, they cost 100 gold less each, infinite amount of times after their first spawn. Anything more than 10 min peace time, knights are going to gain the upper hand. Catapults are essential with their constant pressure turning the tide in battle along with assassin's ability to scale walls and ambush anything. Maybe mace men are better for their damage and cost 28 gold less per unit than assassins, but it's hard to really say, since you do have to invest a little time and a gold in making the workshops and resources for them. Assassin's invisibility is probably S tier effective since it works really well spreading them around in small groups on the map so that it's harder to find them with toggling cathedral and hovering over the map everywhere to find them.
@Winklechin Actually no since we arent taking into acount iron ingots as material for armour and swords, so the actual price of starting knights should be about 175 gold ( 23 gold 1 ingot, 1.5 sword/armor per delivery = 35g ) and knights after the first 4 have died are 75 gold each. ( ignoring the workshop cost)
Congrats on 1k subs! :) Knights do be going down quick against crossbowmen though. :// They go down in like 8 shots or what not? They are good at their job, which is destroying shit, like catapults, but they better avoid going near other melee units, cuz it's hard to mass produce them and they lose melee fights so quickly. I think of them like faster and tankier slaves. But they don't burn stuff or fill moats. Other than that, they are functionally identical.
Thanks! Crossbowmen and Pikemen are supposed to out trade Knights but I don't see that happen that often tbh. But even then Knights are the fastest units too so there's a lot more outplay potential and you can pick things off here and there and eventually Crossbowmen and Pikemen will be a much easier target for Catapults while Knights are able to run away or close the distance whenever they want so I find them much more useful in those situations tbh I don't really like the Catapult/Knight playstyle too much but on most maps (And no rush) that's what people end up with most of the time

There is hope, just not a lot of it.
Hello Jefflenoius! I hope you read my message! I`m very interested in a Stringhold Crusader 2 Tier List. I want to know by a Pro, which units are dumb and which are stupidly overpowerd. Did you eveb play SHC2? If yes, could you tell me, if my troops are good or bad in offensive? I often play with crossbowmen on horse (sorry, english is not my native language) arabian swordmen, catapults with shields. A complete tier list would be very interesting, because I can`t find anything about that. Have a nice day!
Well.. the issue I have with knights is that they are the only unit with a sort of number cap. Like, you build one barracks and one armoury and you can make as many swordsmen as the game engine will tolerate. But for every four knights you want to have at the same time you need a stable which are not only some of the most expensive buildings in the game, but they also require a ton of space. You can only have so many stables before they start getting into the way of your economy. And of course, knights are also uniquely incapable of climbing the enemy keep, meaning they usually cannot reach the enemy lord. They're still good units, but they pay double for their good stats in being both the most expensive and the most limited unit in the game.
Yeah re-playing now the game (and not as a young 10yo child) I did noticed I changed my engineers from Balista to Catapult in a matter of... 2 matches. Sometimes I literally place them and fire until enemy has almost no more troupes
You should make the part 2 at the hardest levels in stronghold crusader, because you missed level 25,or you just thought it was easy idk. Edit: I I'm still happy because I am the 1000th subscriber

I really cannot agree to knights be S+ tier. A-tier maybe due to their good speed and armor, but they melt under crossbow/fire ballista attacks. While they have nice speed and are good at harassment and destroying buildings, I just use assassins for that since they at least have invisibility.
They're not concerned by ranged units though (Because of movement speed), it's just the best melee units you can have later on, having a quick and strong unit like Knights means you can pick your fights and it gives you so much power late game. Sure playing with Crossbowmen and Pikemen/Monks is also fine but overall Knights give you much more control
@@Jefflenious I still disagree. Crossbowmen are accurate with their shots and fire ballistas have supreme range. Plus stables are cumbersome to have in your castle depending on the space you have. Even then, swordsmen can 1v1 a knight, so knights aren't necessarily the strongest in terms of overall damage.
I have to agree with this comment. Knights cost too much to build, can't climb fortifications and towers and are cost effectively countered by almost every other melee unit. They have their merits, sure, especially against horse archers and ground ranged units, but they are so easily countered by so many other units. Part of the reason assassins and macemen are so good is because they can quickly reach vulnerable units in fortifications. Knights can't rush castles and can't remove pesky ranged units in towers. Also, in addition to taking iron for swords and armor, Knights need stables. Stables take lots of space and only accommodate four knights, so they're one of the least economical buildings in the game.
@@ajduongI guess anyone had their own opinion but I think you're in the wrong here, yes the cost is really high and the stables are so uneconomical but as the man said knights are a late game feature,at this point if you're any good as a player you should basically have unlimited gold income, atleast on most maps,so the cost doesnt really matter,I personally use knights for sacrifice,I handle the walls and towers with some siege equipment and send in the knights first to handle the opponents economy and also for scouting fire pitches etc,6 stables is usually enough for me,2.4k gold is not a lot in a 40-50min game as they are the fastest and the most resistant to arrows,I have siege equipment to handle ballistas so I dont worry about them and crossbowmen are easy to handle because they just stand there and slowly reload while I massacre them, when the opponents economy is down I can send my melee units,I usually also just leave the knights that survive in the castle on the positions where the opponent spawns his merc base or the barracks so they cant anymore so one less thing to worry about, anyways, trust me,if you get to a late game with unlimited income just spam knights and destroy the ops economy, they make sieging much much easier without that much units,24 knights can do the same damage that a 100 macemen or similar melee units can do,because of their speed, agility and durability against arrows, except, well, killing the king lol
I wouldn't put knights higher then B for a couple of reasons. 1. They have a lot of requirements. Not just the need for equipment, but also for a LOT of stables. 2. They can't enter keeps, dig moats, climb ladders or using missiles. Making them essentially useless when sieging an enemy castle. Yes, they are the most powerful unit on a field battle, but they are likely to be outnumbered by infantry units. How about defence? Yes, they can take out archers and catapults, but not protecting the lord. And enemy archers can be outranged by archers in towers. So if you need a fast unit to take out a catapult you might as well just spam horse archers and either shoot them or charge into melee range. The best (early beginning) defence is a big tower with a gate house attached, and then filling it with archers, and crossbowmen when production is up. I'll usually stick with pikemen, macemen and arabian swordsmen with range support for assaults. Gives a lot of options. Two of them can dig moat. Two have high attack. Two have good defence. One fast unit and one decent. Horse archers can take out enemy archers and move around quickly.
It depends on your playstyle, like the man said, usually late game most players have unlimited income,if its a tiny map ofc you wont or cant make knights but if its a big map there's no reason not to unless your economy is struggling, but if its not the knights are op,they are my most important ingredient for a siege,I even siege without any archers or horse archers I just leave them to defend my castle, siege equipment takes care of the walls, knights are fast enough to get inside before the enemy brings them up again,I destroy the entirety of the enemy's economy, basically I use them as sacrifice pawns, they do massive damage and are durable enough to stick around in the enemy castle denying the enemy the possibility of rebuilding anything inside while my slower melee units arrive and kill the enemy lord,I always make 24 knights because its more then enough to destroy the entire enemy economy and at the enemy I'm left with about 5 of them and just leave them there in the enemy castle until my melee units arrive, easy as that,24 knights,4-5 trebuchets,50-80 melee units depending on the enemy strength and I'm done, nothing overly complicated, they are extremely expensive but well worth the gold,no other unit can destroy the enemy economy as fast and as effective as knights can,and without the economy they are as good as dead
And you also mentioned defense,I use the same as you, knights are used as late game siege attacks, not defenders, but if I'm in a position that a siege failed or I need to pull my knights back to my castle they are great defenders, put a couple of them in front of my main entrance and a couple of them in front of the lords keep, put them on aggressive and nothing gets by them, aggressive makes me forget about them because they handle the business by themselves without any orders
i would put crusader swordman at atleast low A tier, they can still tank more arrows from archers than pikeman but pikeman tanks more crossbow hits. but the damage they do is what makes them really great.
@@TM0TP they are too slow, die to fast through fire and crossbowmen but most importantly they cost too much. 200 gold for sword producing and 40 gold per unit, pikemen and macemen are far better cost-wise
@@fabiansproer378 i know but i just like them as a unit, i still would give them low A tier because at the very least they are excellent defence units.
and fuck multiplayer rushes by the way, competitive crusader consists of just spamming those units plus knights the entire point of this game is to be creative, its been out 20 years and i probably accumulated about 5000 hours
Will do one later (Takes a bit of time to make videos) for now you can use this wiki page they made: github.com/UnofficialCrusaderPatch/UnofficialCrusaderPatch/wiki/UCP-Installation
i would switch pikeman and monk's place. I really don't understand why people here keep saying pikeman are great unit. sure, they looks like a good overall unit but they get overshadowed by bunch of broken units. Their biggest point is being a tanky unit that can take many arrow hits but in real game, shield is 10 times better, cheap 35 gold, tank x5 times arrows, protect nearby units while running at horse speed to protect your army, they take over 80% pikeman job. The other 20% is being a good melee fighter, which now being taken by knights, who can chase down catapults and horse archers, while Pikeman got destroyed by both of them. And for cheap shock unit, you have maceman, monk. The only good case you want them is dig the moat, which can't be done by knight. But hosnestly, when would you dig the moat? when you already tear down enemy defense, and should give that job to your maceman and siege tower instead. Really i can't find any reason to use them over other units
Why is Fire Ballista A... It should be min S because it counters Horse archers and has good dmg against armor troops and can light fire to farms and windmills.
Because fire ballistas are a bit stupid, they all attack the same target which makes massing a fire ballista army pointless (On large numbers they would just overkill a single unit instead of spreading their damage across the opponent's army) That's my experience though
Yeah said it on the first tier list video, instead of ranking engineers (Which have no attack or uses outside of their siege engines except filling moat) I ranked their siege engines
Your Arabic Archer vs Normal Archer argument is odd, because you defended Knights even though they're far more expensive to make than anything else, but the cost requirement puts them off on Arabian archers? Especially considering you also said you have infinite resources on balanced maps so why not go for them? Early game perhaps archers are better but end game they're so damn weak in comparison that I hardly ever bother if I have the gold to spend.
Arabian Archers are outclassed by both Normal Archers (On low economy games) and Horse Archers (On massive economy) And there's also Crossbowmen for armored units, And also they just cost effectively lose the Normal Archers until supply cap and peasant efficiency comes to play (And even then there's still Horse Archers) Knights though are the only units that can withstand late game fights, They are insanely expensive and ofc you can argue they belong to a lower tier because of that. But they're just way too good at everything and I think they are the best melee units in the game
Lord almighty, no. 1. Does no one know how to mass crossbows on towers and trbuches behind walls vs catapults? -_- 2. Eco full of fletchers making crossbows. Sell crossbows buy leather armors, mass xbows and get assassins. Within 10 minutes of gameplay you have both army and eco. Way more cost and time efficient than making/buying weapons
i dont think the tier is very accurate: - knights are waay to expensive with the only benefit of being fast, obvl they are rly good to kill range units and siege engine but thas it, also you dont have such a strong economy on every map, waiting 20min+ to have 1 is also not the concept of this fast pasted game imo, they cant get on top of the keep or at any building which is also a big disadvantage. - assassins are too high 2, they are waay to fragile and easily killed by range units or other strong melle units, yes they are invisibel and deal a good amount of damage any yes they can open gate houses or get on towers or walls but why send assassins when u have multipel better ways to destroy them, also moat just hard counters them... - pikemen arent terribel but also not good they move rly fast and are tanky but their dmg output is so low compared to the better melee units that you need a ton of them in order to succeed, they can support a bit but again not worth the gold imo i think the ram and ballista should move up in the list, esp the ram (or multiple) combined with shields can crack every castle if supported correctly and that very fast too. the ballista is very accurate and protects your tower against siege very nicely. the best melee unit by far are the macemen, they move rly fast and deal tons of damage esp stacked up which is easly done with them, they arent that expensive too. they shred everything in pieces when stacked up, they are rly hard to stop once they rolling, only real weakness is goddamn fire, range units arent the problem with proper setup. lastly i want to mention that monks are far better then alot of ppl think, they are rly cheap arent to slow and deal a good amount of damage, very common to cheese with them xDDD

Pls play with modded AIs like Hackerman etc.
My own list is as follow:
S+
Catapult
Crossbowman
horse archer
Shield
S
Pikeman
Maceman
Assassin
Kinght
A, B & C are similar to your list
Yes
I would like to see u make some videos about stronghold 2 as well that would be nice 🙂
I'd switch pikemen to S+, put Macemen to A and Knights to S. Otherwise great list after the update imo, keep up the good work!
i would put crusader swordman at atleast low A tier, they can still tank more arrows from archers than pikeman but pikeman tanks more crossbow hits. but the damage they do is what makes them really great.
but mobility wise they suck but if you combine shields with them they would be unstoppable.
Why aren't you using normal voice to record?
If you think this upload period is "late", well you are VERY wrong it's like upload every day!
Yey! Siege Towers get promoted.
S tier: assassins, shields, horse archers
have you even played SH crusader if you didnt spam those?
and fuck multiplayer rushes by the way, competitive crusader consists of just spamming those units plus knights
the entire point of this game is to be creative, its been out 20 years and i probably accumulated about 5000 hours
Flamethrowers are easily S tier, some extreme missions i think are impossible without them.
Can u show us ur setup please
armed peasant from Stronghold Kingdoms feeling left out lol
ngl i wish theyd add that unit
Yeah or if they made spearmen a little cheaper (Or like more weapons produced by poleturners)
@@Jefflenious tbh armed peasants can be an even cheaper slave but for Europeans
Jeff can u do a tutorial on how to download the unofficial crusader patch I suck when I comes to Pc things
Will do one later (Takes a bit of time to make videos) for now you can use this wiki page they made: github.com/UnofficialCrusaderPatch/UnofficialCrusaderPatch/wiki/UCP-Installation
@@Jefflenious Appreciate it Jeff thanks
i would switch pikeman and monk's place.
Really i can't find any reason to use them over other units
catapult 1#
Knights and Arabian Swordsman's should be place at least in A.
Best game ever made
Why is Fire Ballista A... It should be min S because it counters Horse archers and has good dmg against armor troops and can light fire to farms and windmills.
Because fire ballistas are a bit stupid, they all attack the same target which makes massing a fire ballista army pointless (On large numbers they would just overkill a single unit instead of spreading their damage across the opponent's army)
That's my experience though
This tier is fixed👍
wait you did not put the enngieer in the tier list
Yeah said it on the first tier list video, instead of ranking engineers (Which have no attack or uses outside of their siege engines except filling moat) I ranked their siege engines
Is it vanilla or +ucp ?
It's mostly about vanilla, so yeah laddermen are considered broken
Ok :v
Your Arabic Archer vs Normal Archer argument is odd, because you defended Knights even though they're far more expensive to make than anything else, but the cost requirement puts them off on Arabian archers? Especially considering you also said you have infinite resources on balanced maps so why not go for them? Early game perhaps archers are better but end game they're so damn weak in comparison that I hardly ever bother if I have the gold to spend.
Arabian Archers are outclassed by both Normal Archers (On low economy games) and Horse Archers (On massive economy) And there's also Crossbowmen for armored units, And also they just cost effectively lose the Normal Archers until supply cap and peasant efficiency comes to play (And even then there's still Horse Archers)
Knights though are the only units that can withstand late game fights, They are insanely expensive and ofc you can argue they belong to a lower tier because of that. But they're just way too good at everything and I think they are the best melee units in the game
manganese are S Tear in human matches.
from B to S+.... it doesn't make your judgements very reliable
Why pikeman not on s++?
On low economy they probably are S++
Pikemen are S++ change my mind
Anyone Play on steam

Lord almighty, no.
1. Does no one know how to mass crossbows on towers and trbuches behind walls vs catapults? -_-
2. Eco full of fletchers making crossbows. Sell crossbows buy leather armors, mass xbows and get assassins. Within 10 minutes of gameplay you have both army and eco. Way more cost and time efficient than making/buying weapons
Spearmen are S tier
G
I disagree with you on only one thing. I would switch the places of swordsmen and pikemen. In my general experience pikemen are really bad.
So Some people would argue that assassins are bottom tier coz there pathfinding and other such things is pretty shit

Tier list needs reupdated again... *Engineers' ghost Siege Tower and Tunnelers bug exploit* Who needs Assassin and wall building? 😆 🤣
i dont think the tier is very accurate:
- knights are waay to expensive with the only benefit of being fast, obvl they are rly good to kill range units and siege engine but thas it, also you dont have such a strong economy on every map, waiting 20min+ to have 1 is also not the concept of this fast pasted game imo, they cant get on top of the keep or at any building which is also a big disadvantage.
- pikemen arent terribel but also not good they move rly fast and are tanky but their dmg output is so low compared to the better melee units that you need a ton of them in order to succeed, they can support a bit but again not worth the gold imo
i think the ram and ballista should move up in the list, esp the ram (or multiple) combined with shields can crack every castle if supported correctly and that very fast too. the ballista is very accurate and protects your tower against siege very nicely. the best melee unit by far are the macemen, they move rly fast and deal tons of damage esp stacked up which is easly done with them, they arent that expensive too. they shred everything in pieces when stacked up, they are rly hard to stop once they rolling, only real weakness is goddamn fire, range units arent the problem with proper setup.
lastly i want to mention that monks are far better then alot of ppl think, they are rly cheap arent to slow and deal a good amount of damage, very common to cheese with them xDDD
Ngl Online Crusader is just a Spamming Game and not really fun for me
Same
my mom is the best unit in crusader classic. in extreme, its my dad
Thou redpilled me about how useless swordsman actually are.
