For years, I would always use double rations and ale to maximize tax. Having watched these videos, I switched to no rations, ale, and usually no taxes. I make so much more selling bread than I would with taxes. The only downside is taking time to sell. There's also less of a downside to increasing your population because you don't have to feed them. I also learned that each inn supports 30 population, so I'm not at risk of my ale coverage suddenly dropping. Respect to Jefflenious.

It's pretty impressive to make up 11 questions about Crusader and be wrong about every aspect of the game. The only question/answer combo that made remotely any sense was 2/11 with 2 factions being european and arabic. The author still got the answer wrong though. I'm pretty sure that's a troll quiz.

Hey Jeff, not sure if you knew this fun fact about the SH1 - I only discovered it recently when I replayed Definitive Edition. (Maybe works in Crusader too) Apparently _all_ the troops in the game have moat digging quotes, even monks, tunnelers and laddermen. Stronghold veterans know that the only units that can dig are archers, spearmen, macemen, pikemen and engineers. However I accidentally found out the even units that cannot dig normally comment on it if you try to make them dig. Now the question you might ask is "How?" since the little spade cursor doesn't pop up when you select incompatible units, but here is how you can do it: - Select a bunch of units that can't dig. - Select additional one, or add one unit in the group that can dig, but make sure the ones that can't are in the majority. (Even +1 works, like: 2 crossbows, 1 archer) - Tell them to dig/fill the moat. Note that this moves all the selected units to the area, even if they won't start digging. They tell you amusing quotes in return: Crossbowmen are confused; Swordsmen and laddermen refuse; Knights not only refuse they are downright upset. Monks and Tunnelers would be up for it, but won't actually start digging. I suspect what happened that at one point in development all units could be sent to dig, but some didn't dig, just said these deny lines. And then most likely early playtesters quickly found it annoying that they commanded a bunch of units to dig, all the units went to the digsite, but just the qualified units started digging. Some of the lines are really not clear in that regard that they won't be digging that moat. But this is just my theory of how it went down and why it got disabled. I guess they forgot to fix it with unit grouping. I don't think there is actually a video on the topic on youtube, so here is a free video idea for you if you want to use it.
