  • In this episode I go over in detail 2 ways how to rig this highly productive and widely used fishing lure, the Clark Spoon. Good for both sight fishing and trolling, the Clark Spoon is most definitely an effective tool of the trade, as it has earned it's place among anglers around the world as a "Go To" lure. Great for offshore and inshore fishing. If you've ever wondered about using a Clark Spoon and how to rig it up and put it to use... This episode's for you.
    Enjoy,
    Tight lines & good vibes.

      Thanks a million for watching and leaving some excellent feedback. Yes, the Spaniards are swimming around, once you find them, you can punish them until they move on, then go find some more. I find them hanging around the piers in like 8 feet of water. I'm not a huge fan of the loop knot, but it's practical when it comes to some lures. Always a pleasure to hear from you. Happy holidays. New sub to your channel. I just have one question, do you need to put a swivel in the rig to overcome line twist? thanks!

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Před 3 lety

      Thanks a million for watching and supporting the channel. I truly appreciate it. Your are correct, however the swivel in this application is not connected directly to the lure, instead it's connected to your mainline... Now line twist is all part of trolling spoons, regardless of using a swivel or not. Just be aware. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care ;)

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Před 3 lety

      Yes, I'm currently working on a wahoo seminar... however, this one will take a bit to do. As I have a lot to cover in a short amount of time, so I have to make sure to convey the correct message easily and in a down to earth manner. Also, having some good footage is imperative to a wahoo video. So give it some time, but trust me it's in the works. Take care ;))))))

    Great video- could you put the swivel on via a split ring next to the lure and then run the wire leader from that to the mainline to be more stealthy?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes of course, you can do any combination of hardware that works for you. You'll just want some sort of barrel swivel in the mix to counter act the spinning of the spoon. Personally, I don't like attaching wire leader directly to my line, that's why I put the swivel at that end. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel. I truly appreciate it. Hi Heath, Another good video. Those spoons work great, even up here. Did you ever put a 3" Berkley Gulp Swimming Minnow on the hook as a trailer ? Sometimes I cut the body of the minnow to make it a little shorter. If you get strikes, the fish can really tear them up, but that means the fish are biting. Hope the family is well. Stay safe and good luck, Mickey

      Hi Mickey, Thanks for watching, it's awesome when I do an episode on some common hardware that we both use in different ways. That's one of the most intriguing aspects of life, is to see how people go about solving the same problem, with the same tools... the mindset, methods, and tactics are amazing. I've never tried the gulp minnows on this before, just always use it "as is". It's a great Idea though, will most definitely add some flavor. I'll have to give it a try. All is well with the family, we are getting ready for the holidays. Hope the same well wishes for you and your family. Stay warm, stay safe. Take care :))))

    dont u need planner to troll this? or this thing have to be troll slow or it will end up on the surface?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. So, when spoons are trolled, the typical motion produced is spinning & waving, whether it is up on top or on a planer down in the water column. Both styles of spoons (clark & drone) work equally as well, with or without a planer. And no, you don't have to slow down. I troll the clark spoon at 6 to 8 knots and it reacts properly and catches lots of fish. If you would like to see the clark spoon trolled at those speeds & producing a catch, you can watching this video where I show it:
      czcams.com/video/DAPia21qeSM/video.html
      It's a fun action packed video.
      Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support for the channel. Tight lines & take care ;)

      @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing no worries mate done subs your channel. and thanks so much for all the info. but ive tried to troll spoon one time, it keep jumping on the surface n i believe fish wont be interested with it. my set up is braid fg knot to fluro then loopknot attached to spoon. i wonder where is the mistake.

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for getting back to me about this. So, realistically, spoons should be trolled with mono. Mono provides shock absorbency and it stretches to tug the lure through the water at just the right negative pressure to make it react correctly. Using braid is definitely fine, however, you should consider using a long shock cord of mono, about 50 to 75 feet at least... this will give the lure that drag resistance through the water and will keep it down. Hope this helps. Good luck, don't give up on it. Tight lines & take care ;)
