Cool video. It was also so cool to speak with you on the beach the other day . My kids talked about it all the way home .
dont fall for it man there working together
@Darius Zayden thanks man!!! Yea know when I clicked on a fishing video this is actually what I had in mind!!!! Here’s another idea why don’t you get a job?👍
Wow just seeing this out of the box czcams.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
I’m glad to see you back on the Bama Beach, Bum. That’s what brought me to the channel!
Certainly one of the coolest fishing expedition videos I’ve seen. Keep em coming! 👍
Nice session! I really enjoy these kinds of videos with the lures at the beach. Thanks!
When you slipped, all I could think of was me doing that, breaking a hip, and wondering how I would ever get out of there. LOL
Ouch! I fall on the rocks too much. Excited to see the bite back on the lures! So much fun! Thanks Matt
Awesome catch. Great stuff. Glad u had such fun. Keep up the good work
Loved the video, so much fun when they are close in.
Love the videos! Keep 'em coming! Waiting to get to the beach myself
Nice man! Chucking lures on the beach is my favorite way to fish. I’m with you on bluefish-to me they’re awesome because they’re fun to catch, good to eat fresh, and sustainable.
Glad to see the spring bite is slowly approaching. Also think it is interesting how the opinion varies greatly with eating bluefish. Some people call them trash, others it's their favorite lol
I see someone stepped up to a Penn Slammer III reel. Nice !!! Hope you save a few for the rest of us. Going to be out there soon. Keep up the great videos!!
Great to see you back on the beach!
Here in Oz those Halcos are called a slug. During winter when the Tailor (bluefish) are running, they're dynamite in the surf. They're also good to throw at bait balls for trevally, mackeral and tuna. Sometimes it pays to use a wire leader. When Tailor are small we call them "choppers" and when they're bigger we call them "greenbacks". Great fun and good eating.
keep it up my guy love these vids
This video has got me bumped up for jetty fishing! Let’s go spring, and warmer waters.
I’m heading down next month to Pensacola to get some beach fishing-! I’m watching all your videos for tips and they have helped me a lot. Now the crappie are on fire in Tennessee! Thanks
Bama, Really enjoyed this Video. Coming from Long Island NY, I've always loved catching and eating Bluefish. You are correct in stating the Blues are larger on the east coast. My personal best is 21 lbs! Caught in mid Nov on a Wreck off LI. During the 80's we would on occasion fish off Montauk LI (OCT & NOV) in an area called the Cartwright Grounds using whole herring double hooked onto 6 - 8 OZ Diamond Jigs. We'd drop em down 80-90 ft and catch 10= 20 lb Bluefish till we were arm weary. It was pretty much a guarantee back then. You would have LOVED it! But the best eating Bluefish are those under 4 lbs IMO. You dont even have to bleed them.
thx for the vid.... no ice on the lakes here... about ready to get the boat out... keep em coming... love your vids
Nice video, and great to see you slaying them around the beach again. Glad you are okay after taking that tumble. I recently fell while jetty fishing off the rocks and into the water here on the Texas coast. Nothing broken, other than my pride, and a bloody shin. My reel got dunked, but was salvaged after maintenance fortunately.
Aransas pass jetties
Good morning yall!!! Good luck out there and keep them lines tight!!!
Awesome fishing! Courtney will be happy!
The laugh at 2:45 made me laugh. These fish making the bum a little delirious 😂
Hey BBB I finally got my coquina clam fish bites and they are awesome love the vids keep it up
Bro..that’s my favorite reel. I caught a 40 lbs shark on a 5500...10 minute fight from the shore. Drag is awesome, pick up/retrieve double awesome. I think that reel is one of the most underrated surf reels.
Awesome video man!
Nice video . . . . love catching blues !!!!
Both the bluefish and mackerel would get the smoker treatment around here, glad to see you had a good morning
Looked like a blast. I plan on getting out there some this summer.
Cool, fun video! You made some fans' day!! :) Way to go bud!!
About time you use halco lures...man from panama to cabo to texas #1 lure to use
Just getting back from your area and one thing I learned is the Rocky Bayou in Niceville should be referred to as the Dead Sea, did not talk to a single person who caught a fish in 3 days. Even spoke to a charter captain and he said other then one time his daughters caught a fair amount of mangos off the ramp dock NADA. Beautiful weather though and got to break in my Native Watercraft Slayer kayak so wasn't all bad.
Great fishing video with some nice fish
I live in central coast in Calif and i love fishing in the fog off the bank or sand, wish we had a jetty like you guys got there.
Hey Man! Great Spring Fishing! We are building a house down there and hoping to be in late next fall. My PB Blue Fish is 18.5 lbs off of Montauk, LI, NY fought like hell!! Keep the great video's coming!
Wow! That’s what I call a successful day fishing!
Happy fishing and good morning from Australia 🇦🇺
Kellie xox
Great video!! See y’all in April!!
Love it when beach bum posts
Hey Bama , awesome video man ! Always enjoy your video’s and info about what you’re using and how to use it. On that note I wanted your professional opinion on telescopic rod and reel combos. Have you ever used one and would you recommend it
Love it when the blues are running. I caught 24 in a hour and a half.
I've seen them in schools the size of football fields. Every cast got hammered.
Other than slip & falls 😎 looks like a great morning. I just upgraded my smoker so I “need” some mackerel.😃 Would certainly not be sad with some blues.
I need to get that lure! Good work!
Hey Matt, fantastic video today. Gives me hope that winter is over. Doubtful you’ll see this, but can you possibly talk about how to properly bleed a blue?? Thanks!
Enjoy your lunch and thanks for the video
...good one, there is always a new lure to try out, a lot of them catch more fisherman than fish...lol..stay safe..
Great action !!!like glue some 40 grit sandpaper to bottom of heels .
Can you get a polarized lens filter or cover for your go pro? It would be cool to see into the water a bit.
Great day of catching, and I would guess gonna lead to some good eating. Blues and spanish some of the better eating saltwater species
I just subscribed because of your pod cast with Brant.
Caught 6 in about an hour at Grayton Beach yesterday. They smashed beheaded cigar minnows.. Destroyed a few rigs but whatever... the fights made it worth it. Especially when I threw out a lighter action rod... It was game on!
I am surprised you didn't go back to the roosta popper. Since the blues where hitting ontop and so close to the jetty. Nice video, love watching your stuff.
Solid day on the rocks. I missed your last couple videos as they were taken down.
Nice video good to see u back on beach side. You should try a flutter style spoon. Those flat side spoons don’t have much flash or action. I’m going to be down on the 21st can’t wait to try my west coast gear on the gulf. Would be happy to hand off some tackle that no one else throws in your area. Look at Dixie jet or little Cleo or crocodile spoons. Love the vids been a huge help as I gear up for Alabama
What a great day to be fishing.
Great video
Nice video man
great video triple b! but you gots to be careful my man! planning on going to the pass today and i heard the blue angels are passing by today hope to catch you out there bud
Pomps are comin in too! 21 incher from the beach yesterday!
Dang right don't let dinner get away I'm slippin to nice catch 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
What I love most about this video, is you learn in real time how he changes his locations / lures / size of the lures / placement to find where the fish are. I usually stand in the same place and go home sad. I learned a lot today.....
Cool video, man!! It’s what I want to do in my videos... congrats
Nice to see this Spanish and blues are in! Good to see you didn't hurt yourself, those jetties are no joke! Did you happen to see that Great White on the way to Pensacola?
Beach bum to 100k let’s goooo
Here in NC we have Chopper Blues around end of April into May!
Your desire to catch a big blue could happen! We should be seeing some 15 - 20 lbs blues coming past the pier I fish (Surf City Pier on Topsail Island) in just a couple weeks!
If you would like to try a lure that's taking Bass Pro Shops, and a lot of other tackle shops, by storm,, you really need to check out Big Nics Fishing on Facebook! The Spanish Candy is a great lure that catches much more than spanish!
Looks like some good eating coming . Ps when a boat pulls to close to the beach or the to rocks to ruin my fishing,I don't hesitate to make some friendly casts at the boat operator. Lol
Cool fishing
I use a small steel leader for blues and Spanish. Got tired of them biting off my spoons. Those are nice eating size. The bigger ones are fun to catch but I don't like eating them.
Great job bro I love catch blue fish but still early in nj 🎣
Glad yer OK . Those wet rocks can be slick . Nice going , yer Penn Slammer 111 ( 4500 / 5500 ? ) makes short work of those fish . Tom Daytona Beach, FL. 16, March 2021 .
Good morning to fish!!
Great !uck!
Your wife will be Happy for the Blues....
Enjoyed the Video.
Man I’ve been wasting my time at the pier trying catch a Spanish 😂 I’m heading there this afternoon!
I love your channel I watch at least one video even if it's a repeat of watching it I was watching this video specifically and wanted to comment on something that I've learned when I used to work up north in New Jersey off belmar on the golden eagle it is a fishing party boat that targets mostly blue fish striped bass and black sea bass occasionally albacore and sometimes we even go out if it is good fishing for the yellowfin tuna we use a lot of jigs and spoons but one thing I recognize is when you real consistently hard and fast and do not let the blue fish in this case chomp down and call it enjoy the dinner it will not hook enough into its inner jaw that during the fight if you are not close by it will rip they are famous for pulling so hard without the drag set or letting it run where it thinks it is getting away that it does rip out of its jaw or loosen it off that when he loosens up and comes in the next time he pulls out to run it pops out and makes a bigger hole in his jaw I didn't know this before I started working on the golden eagle where the person that worked on the golden eagle with me has been fishing for Blue fish striped bass and personally working on Golden eagle taught me that single technique and I was able to land more fish and bigger fish just something I saw and reasons why the fish that you had in my personal opinion was once you hooked up on it when you pulled in real that the same time it tore because he will bite it you will hook up and when you pull and don't let him run for that little minute to eat up and start jumping on it it rips right out their mouth and that's just preferably the blue fish and striped bass but we don't have none down here in Florida so just something I keep in mind personally when I fish spoons and lures because yeah I get excited we all do something you might want to try
Can you show how you set up your lure set up for like spoon and poppers ect.. nice video man🔥
Funny, fishing NJ you're stoked to get a spanish in July/August but have trouble getting past the blues.
I love the fact that you fish to eat not to release 😂😂.
Looks like where I fish on the Cape Cod canal , same frickin slippery rocks. I've fallen on my ass a few times in the 40 years I've been fishing there. Takes longer to get up these days though ! LOL
Good ol' Halco Twistie from down under mate. My fave here in Coffs Harbour Australia. Fish on beach bums
Thinking about trying for Blue this summer live on the east coast
Matt, where is the best place to cut a blue to bleed them? Enjoyed the video!
Some people may shy away from the blood letting, but you cut an interesting part if that video that would have been helpful to newbies fishing Blues and Spanish.
CZcams will demonetize...underside of the mouth/body, between the gills, cut across.
Watched a video where the guy just reached in with a finger, hooked the hills and pulled.
Great video ! I use Kast Masters 1 oz with wire leaders for Blue fish , 20 lb big game mono ..Good eating blue fish , mackerel taste good too..Why everyone keep popping up everywhere while fishing..😳😳😳😳
Chicks dig battle scars bro!! 😂😂
New subscriber, love your vids, man! I really like how you rigged this for “quick change” on the lures. You briefly describe it at the 10:00 mark. Any chance you could describe explain more? Is this how you rig for lures on the beach, too? Keep up the good work👍
That blue fish is probably like first you hook me then you almost body slam me then your gonna eat me lol 😂
My favorite fighting fish. If you haven’t experienced a gator blue fight then y’all missing out 💪
Hi
Awesome catches! What equipment are you using on this video? Reel is 4000 or 5000 size? As well as the rod, 9' ? Thanks
Nice bro 😃👍
Dude I would have walked down the beach if I knew you were there. We were on the beach at literally the same time. I was just a mile down to your right.
sitting on him is the new catch and cook
I took a coke can and hammered it into a fish shape and put a swivel on one end and put a treble hook on the other.Caught about a half dozen with no problem. This was on N.Carolina outer banks back in the '70's. All were in the teens and all were released. Not good eating but fun to catch.
What size Slammer iii are you using and are you pleased with it. Debating on buying a slammer iii or spinfisher VI for heavy setup
I spent a few years fishing SoCal beaches, and everyone was using expensive gear and jerkbaits called LuckyCrafts which were great, but $24....After losing 2 one morning from breaking off on big bat rays, I said Phuck It and opened up my old midwest tackle box. Had a Luhr Jenson Kroc spoon in roughly the same color as the smelt, and with in 1 hour I had 2 big halibut and another missed. I went catching one of the biggest Shortfin Corvina, my biggest Halibut, Corbina, perch, and croaker with them cheap things for the next few years. And ironically i posted a pic on a fishing site with it, and suddenly everyone was using them. But the funny part is they didnt know how to fish the spoon properly. There is a good technique to swim and jig them.
I have one of those penn slammer best reels.
I called it!
I felt that fall.
Looks like someone got a slammer !
Hey are you the Bum? Why yes I am. Gotta love it Matt. Stay Bummy
Great video. Where do you get your spoons and poppers
