What was the light you were using?
I’m not sure, they weren’t mine. They were my buddy’s. But the worked well! Lol we had a small battery in backpacks that the leads attached to.

I have found that these a the least expensive and super bright. Zeke will help you , give him a call . Yellow for murky water and 6500k white for clear water 💦 I have the double light setup .
Xxavier Simmons theyre still 130 bucks
Roger Dickinson Zeke will not ship the 3/4 PVC Sch 40 pole due to shipping cost . He will sell you a coupler and dual lights for a reasonable price. He is out of Galveston , Tx . These are still the cheapest lights that work extremely well.
A word to the wise: As an old gigger, I'll say this. Shuffle your feet. All. The. Time. You stepped on 2 flounder, they could have just as easily been stingarees buried in the sand. A friend of mine got hit 6 months ago. He is still in pain and sustained nerve damage, and still going to the doctor. Also, don't step backward. Stingarees will sometimes follow right behind you to eat stuff you've kicked up.
I would never go barefoot. One glass shard could mess up your trip.
8:36!!! Lol I'm sure they saw it but man I was like wth they didn't even mention it
@@luisrosales9518 For real man. That ray would have slowed my pace down for sure. Barefoot and bulletproof.....
@@luisrosales9518 Good catch! (no pun intended)
@@johnmills7199 I was wondering if it was just me, or was I seeing things. They didn't mention it.
This has gotta be my new favorite fishing CZcamsr. Caught my first ever fish from the surf 2 days ago, couldn’t have done it without this channel
Who saw the stingray at 8:36
You’d be surprised how much meat is on a 12” ray.
Good eye, I saw it too.
Lol and no boots nor was he shuffling his feet. Fucking pro am over here
I did

Absolutely fantastic video Matt!!! I’ve never seen a finer demonstration of flounder gigging than this one. It looked like so much fun and something I’ve always wanted to do but never had the opootunity. You’re going to have some fine eating now! Great job. Do this again.
Wow! What an incredible number of very small fish in the very shallow water. And a real nice load of flounder! Another sweet video, Matt.
Thanks for taking us along. I have always wanted to experience that process.... Good Stuff!!!
Reminds me of gigging flounder in the Gulf when I was a teenager in Mississippi in the '60s. Back then our light was a pump-up gasoline type with the flimsy mantles. It was like a Coleman lantern, but instead of a globe it had sort of a metal dishpan on one side to reflect the light down. We always walked and used barbless gigs. When we stuck 'em we nailed them to the sand and reached down and picked them up to put them on a stringer. The most we ever got at one time was 18. Another time there was a "jubilee" when we picked up 33 in a half-hour. Good memories. Love watching your videos, and appreciate your Christian testimony.
Bob W I lived in Gulfport MS in the early 80’s and was introduced to flounder gigging by my ex-brother in law, had a lot of enjoyable nights wading through the surf with my gig and a Coleman lantern. Good times for sure.
I can’t stand this video because I wasn’t there.
Well, you have officially made it on CZcams if Brant is commenting on your videos!
😂😂😂 Well I was pissed seeing your last video knowing you invited me.
That’s incredible, Matt! I definitely have to try this next time I come down to the gulf!
Cool video. Brought back memories. Spent many falls gigging flounder when younger. We carried a tube with a metal pail in it to toss them in as we walked the beach vs. the stringer method. Either way, fun way to catch some delicious dinner!
Been going through a few of your older videos. This is great 👍 👏. Brings me back to my teenage years. oh how I do miss Florida and alabama coast. God Bless and stay safe 🙏
Love watching the flounder videos I hope you make more of them
Love it !! I jig on the east coast of Florida with the same results . You should do this more often.
I would honestly love to see you do more videos like this. It's very fascinating to see things at night.
Awesome, love to see what locals do with different types of fishing.
That was a very cool adventure, Matt...Very different for us land locked boys!
I grew up in Jacksonville Florida, some of the fondest memories were flounder gigging with my dad in his flat bottom jon boat. Guess I am going to have to try it wading in the surf
J ville boy too
I use to gig for them in a John-boat; it is a blast! Great video, those lights worked well!
Awesome video, back in the 80s we would put in at the pines on ft Morgan road run down the bay, build a small shack on the beach and run out a 1000ft of 6 inch mesh gill net for flounder. October through November we would catch cooler after cooler full during the fall run and sell them to Foley fish market. Dad was the commercial fisherman and I was just a teenager. Seeing that stringer of flounder brought back some great memories
Another great video Bama! My son and i we're scalloping in Crystal river the 2nd and we swam up on a monster flonder and he was able to get it with his dive knife😂 awesome
Another great video and some nice looking flounder!
So cool Matt. I've never done this, looks fun👍
Matt that looks like some serious fun and good eating. Great video buddy I enjoyed the heck out of that
Hey there BBB,
Nice gigging video. I used to gig on the bay side of Galveston Island back in the 60s. We operated a little differently:) We actually wore jeans and old sneakers, for sure NOT bare foot. We also used kerosene lanterns for light:) It's really a of fun with a friend that knows the area.
Just like robertintexas said stingrays were always present when we gigged so you learned very quickly to pay attention where you walked and what you gigged.
Great video, looks like you guys had fun.
Awesome haul. One of the most fun ways to catch fish!
man i miss gigging the surf . great video man brings back good times
Very productive night, some great eating there. Good video Matthew. 👍👍👍
Love catching flounder any way I can. Great video God bless
Making me hungry,, Love flounder. great vids man.
I have been enjoying the heck out of your videos. Flounder gigging looks like fun but never thought about doing that in the surf! I'm 5hrs from the beach or I would be finding a way to give that a try.
Caught a few flounders next to the pier jigging this mourning. Along with a few rays and bluerunners.
That was cool, keep up these fun videos 🎣
That was awesome! Cant wait to you this out.
Never even knew you could do that!!!! Great Video!!!!

Do you have a link for the lights used in the flounder gigging video?
Well I know what I’m doing my next SC trip lol. Looked like a blast and great video
Don't take too many. SC flounder populations are at all-time lows. www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/outdoors/article239857338.html
That is awesome man i have to try that this year!
Game Changer Video, loved it. Will be doing this in the near future.
I am assuming the light is water proof.
Love your Channel....
Anxiety is a tough one. I deal with it every day. Stay positive think about what makes you feel good and concentrate on that. Close your eyes say a prayer and one step at a time you got this. And i enjoy your show
Steve from AL .glad you didn't step on that ray. I thought it would feel you and swim away but it just stayed put.
I love flounder gigging down here in Texas; never floundered the surf though. I'm going to have to try it.
That’s so cool I never saw that before. Likes look fun.
Coming to Alabama next week to do some fishing watching your videos to try and learn everyone wish me and my son luck. Lol
I’ve been in gulf shores for a week now and have been waiting on a video to see what you’re catching and now I see this lol

Been waiting for this one since the FB post

Maybe my fav vid so far !
Hi I love to try that out here in New Zealand if you don't mind ...letting me know what types of light or microlight are you using as I'm interesting in getting me one for a start thanks
That was awesome!
That was awesome Matt. Thanks and happy 4th.
Cool! Looks like a blast.
Enjoyed that. Have to do it again. I'm out of fresh fillets
Nice man when I was like 11 or 12 or something we went flounder gigging in the pamlico sound it was great
Haven't tried this before thinking its about time to give it a go now
You just have to get up early and go
That looks fun!
hey bummy! love the vids!
Thanks!
Love it. I don’t post gigging stuff because there are so many fishing “Purists” being critical. I respect your all things bummy on the beach. Question: what exactly are you calling a “pocket?”
All those little fish are rad!
Great video! Are you still doing beach trips?
Awesome stuff right there!
What kind of lights are those your using?
That's awesome I'll be trying it
What beach are you on? Gigging flounder in July? ( I always thought Fall weather ). Great vid! Gigging flounder from the beach area; WoW! Nice stringer. That is some good eating. Is this in Gulf Shores?
Is that gulf shores or fort Morgan, I'm leaving from baton rouge to gulf shores in 4 days planning on doing alot of fishing in the surf , hows the fishing right now?
Badass bro. Thumbs up and subscribed!
We're going there the beginning of October, Are they still on the beach then?
Going to have to try this next year. Waters too cold now here Virginia Beach area.
Nothing like shore to table, can't get any fresher...short of bringing a Sushi chef with you!
Great vidoe! Here in NC they have screwed up our season this year. Our season will be Aug. 16 through Sept. 30. The minimum size limit will remain at a 15 inches total length and the creel limit will remain at four fish per person per day in internal and ocean waters of the state.
Didn't you love the last minute rule change and passage in favor of the commercial guys after the public input period.
@@timstroud2112 Yea we got screwed and had zero input. There isn't a shortage of flounder here and the Marine fisheries board is made up of liberal women that don't know $h!t.
The only thing they did for commercial guys was take money out of their pockets. Problem I had was they classed them as being overfished when they had zero science to back it up. It was a stacked deck of CCA members on Marine Fisheries Commission that voted in Amend 2. Against the recommendation of the Finfish Advisory Boa
Nice man! Mind if I ask what beach? Been here 2 years now and yet to catch a dang flat boy
its a very good eatin .... nice vid bro .. greating from egypt
Thanks for the lift my brother.
In all my years, growing up on the Texas coast, with a salt/fresh water lake on our ranch, I never got to go gigging for flounder. Caught plenty on shrimp and lures, but never got to stab one. Now I’m too old and crippled. I’ll just have to catch them with a fishing pole.
Good to see the fish are with the social distancing program!
Well now , this is a first ! Never knew ya could " gig " flounder ! What a way to get dinner. Don't know if that's allowed in Florida waters or not . Any way .....nice going Matt. Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
yep it's allowed in Florida and if you are in Daytona your in one of the best areas on the east coast to be doing it
Awesome! Good eating!!
So when is gigging season? I am going in Aug will it still be going on?
Dam yall done good in a short time. But you know you gotta share.lol
Great job boys that's some good eating right there 😋
That close. Crazy. That would be fun.
U give me a new idea of fishing..👍👍👍
Awesome vid man.. How was lights set up?
That looks like a blast! So, when's the next gigging video?
do you have something on making the light pole ??
Really cool! Thanks
What is the best time to go and what are you looking for when trying to gig them?
Awesome cool reminds me of long ago in back bays of Long Island NY......at night of course
Very nice video! Which part of the tide did you go?
I can't wait for flounder season to open here in NC. It's my favorite eating fish for sure!
