- Jetty fishing with some different spoon mods that I thought could "change the game" (sarcasm). Got some 3 ounce gold spoons in the mail that I was excited to try out and also a lot of times I go out to the jetties the water is pretty stained and I was thinking some noise would be great to go along with the flash of the large spoon. So I added a chatter weight. Unfortunately the water was pretty nice colored but I still wanted to try it.

In central Florida we only use gold for reds. It's quite effective. Silver tends to land more speks and lady fish, but reds will hit silver as well.

I have a whole bunch of spoon lures but I've never caught a fish on any of them, I think the problem is that I usually do straight retrieves when it looks like I should be hopping it off the bottom. I'll definitely try that next time I'm out, and hopefully I can catch my first fish on a spoon.
I lost my shadow rap on the rocks at your secret flounder fishing spot, not too far into the water, about knee deep at the corner of the bend of the rocks, if u can find it there it's yours. lol

Felt soled neoprene fishing shoes would do well on those algae covered rocks at the jetty. Cabelas or bass pro should have them at reasonable pricing. Nice bull.

In Florida they sell the crocodile spoon made by Evans and that is a good spoon I caught a lot of reds and some big Gator trout on those spoons

When you come to Florida leave that silver spoon at home. Gold all the way here. Silver is used for inshore/near shore pelagics.
You were talking about losing fish and I can guarantee I also lose lots of fish- big ones at that (biggest was a near 750lb hammerhead off the surf)
I used gold for reds all the time when I lived in CC.
I don't live that far from spi. Actually further south from you but my gf, her son and I would love to learn from your expertise of fishing. Further south seems a bit harder but could be the gear we're using or the time of year. Would love some feedback if possible. Thanks Thresherfishing.

I don't use spoons a lot... But golden mepps spinners slay anything!
There is no way you could get a spinner to sink anywhere it needed to be in those conditions. Maybe if you put a 3 oz weight directly behind it and completely sacrificed its action, lmao
Hey how far are you from lawson lindsey? You guys seem to catch alot of the same fish down there in Florida. Props to you, you got him beat by a few thousand subs. You should invite him down to the jettys for a 'friendly' competition to see who can catch the biggest red, snook or trout. That would be an awsome vid for us subscribers. It would have to be a 2 vid set. 1 with lawson and you on the jettys and the second with you two on lawson's boat hittin' up the docks and bridges. That shit would be EPIC!👍 I'm excited just thinking about it.
