    I'm doing mostly bank fishing in the gulf, and I always have a pole rigged up with a gold spoon. When the huge schools of Reds or Jack's come in, this thing hooks them everytime !

      Trust me - they work well.
      Of all I've tried, I like the Dupre best.
      (or, at least the Reds do)

    Is it ok to attach a spoon to a swivel or will that mess up the action? (using mono and not braid)

    swims nice and slow sinking good hooks comparable to the bull gills in stores, works well on the line and doesn’t feel cheap and the colors are great

    Good instruction. I'd nearly completely forsaken spoons for hard plastic twitchbaits (there's that term again, re: your long video on lure names), but I have been counseled for clear days, bright sun, clear water, to use all black or all red spoons. I have repainted some of my tarnished gold ones with red dulling the flash but have yet to try them in clear water/bright sun conditions. I have heard that too much gold or silver flash on those days is too much and spooks the fish.

    In the other video I watched where they do a case study on these, Luke's dad used a snug knot and caught more fish vs the loop knot...

    • @20_rounds94
      @20_rounds94 Před 2 lety

      I doubt they properly and accurately compared which knot is better. They’d have to be throwing the same lure, at same spot, and the same retrieve because someday fish like a slow retrieve someday they like a slow retrieve.
      The loop knot allows the lure to move more freely which gives it better action, but their is a small advantage. It’s not big enough to draw a line between whether or not you’ll get skunked.

    Do you use a loop or snug knot for these spoons?

    • @2003zq8
      @2003zq8 Před 3 lety +3

      Its best not to tie directly to the spoon as line twists will happen from the action it produces on the rettieve. To avoid the line twist, just add a small barrel swivel to the spoon or if it comes with a split ring you can add it there. I tie a uni knot to the swivel, but you can tie whatever knot works best for you.
      I hope that helps out.

    • @joethebourbonman
      @joethebourbonman Před 3 lety +2

      @@2003zq8 I think they did a study that shows minimal line twist using braid and spoons. It is a problem with mono for sure, but I have had good luck using braid tied to a mono leader, especially with smaller and light set ups.

  • @chrissewell1608
    @chrissewell1608 Před 3 lety +2

    The spoon looks like a crab, swimming and flopping around, more than a bait fish. Which may be why redfish like them so much. Tip them with some scented bait, like Fish Gum or Fishbites, and your odds go up, in catching fish.
