Have you ever found any lures or other fishing equipment while out on the water?
In one of my recent trips, I found a popping cork, and since I was feeling adventurous, I decided to rig our new shrimp lure, the Power Prawn, under it and see how it did.
As it turns out, this was a great idea!
I caught several trout with it and a redfish, and in this video, you'll see why the Power Prawn works great under a popping cork (with some fun underwater footage), as well as some tips to catch more fish when using a popping cork.
And finally, you'll also learn some of the most common mistakes anglers make when using popping corks that keep them from catching fish.
So if you want to catch more fish with shrimp lures rigged under a popping cork this spring, then you're going to love this video!
Have any questions about using popping corks?
What's your favorite lure to use under them?

O
Where i can Buy that combo? Link please!!
Additional pro tip: The mainline can get tangled in the cork when casting if using braid or small diameter mono/fluoro. I use a short length leader of heavy mono to the cork itself. It doesnt affect casting distance and the stiffness of it keeps it from wrapping around the cork.
Thanks for making time to post the helpful comment
I do the same
It’s a great tip! I also use this (normally 15lbs fluoro, and if I want to fish cordless I don’t need to tie a leader on!
@@jaadmaan8156 bro how much pound fluoro and how much pound leader from the cork, and how much inches down should the prawn hang from the cork
I do the same. Keeps it from tangling with the cork
Popping corks are op. Such an under rated piece of tackle. Great for shallows/flats and piers. Even for the surf. Good video!! Tight lines everyone!!
These style popping corks are AWESOME.. always a go-to that almost always catches fish for me...
BUT, although I do own a couple of the Bomber corks with the flexible wire and love them.. to say that Cajun Thunder is too cheap and not good is wrong. I have several of those that I've been using for a few years. With the bottom weights corroded and most of the paint gone from the cork, they still work just fine. The best thing for their longevity is to be careful, store them properly and check your line/knots as you fish.
I also have several sizes because when the fish get picky the smaller, less obtrusive corks do work better at times.
THANKS for the videos,...good stuff
Awesome tip, Wyatt!
Thanks for the tips bro.
Thanks you sharing dude👍👍🤝🤝
Awesome popping cork video 🤙🎣
Thanks!
Great video and visuals
Thanks Pablo!
Enjoyed this video. What # leader would you recommend from the cork to the shrimp?
Best place for best tips.
Thanks Lee!
Excellent video Brother
Thank you!
That H&H lure company makes popping corks too I used it before pretty loud cork worth the money
Thanks for making time to post the helpful comment
The bomber is the cheapest one out there
But it lasts the longest , I still have some from 15+ years ago that I can use if I wanted
Apprish the knowledge. Those were hurtful words spoken bout the Cajun Thunder...
Sometimes the truth hurts... granted, I've caught a ton of fish with Cajun Thunders and they absolutely work, but the fact that I get 2-3 trips out of them before they start bending is pitiful compared to spending $3-$5 more on a higher quality cork with better frequency rattles/beads and synthetic wire strand that will last 20+ trips.
Will this work with a sinker
Who makes this power prawn? Where can i get then online?
What size weight jig hook you using? And where can I get some
What's your opinion on the Vudu shrimp?
Nice though I'm guessing this is more suited for fishing in Florida.
Wondering how and where I can use this in the North East.
I’m basically in the middle and fish a popping cork in the Chesapeake Bay I’m the Virginia Tidewater region! Works wonders for Redfish and Speckled Trout! Hope this helps
Just ordered some, that action looks amazing!
Thank you for the support and for checking it out!
Whats ur rod?
Thanks for the video Wyatt, but where’s the link for the braid knot you said you have? Lol
Both knots are linked in the full write up post on our site: www.saltstrong.com/articles/power-prawn-under-popping-cork/
@@Saltstrong that’s what got me! I’m used to the website version and being on CZcams threw me off. Keep up the solid work guys!
I tie a 12" 20 or 30 lb leader to top of popping cork then tie to braid. Braid what get tangled up with you float.
👍
I use the GT knot braid to mono connection and easily throw my knot thru guides using 6-10 feet of 15-20# mono leader. I also use a normal weighted popping cork as I feel the rattling corks attract some bit can spook larger fish.
bro can i use popper indtead of cork
What if I’m using a uni knot
I can’t find any info out there on what a snug knot is and even how to tie one. Can someone please send a link,
Snug knot is any knot that does not create a loop, a knot that fits snug to the swivel or piece of tackle you are trying to attach it to. Palomar knot, trilene knot etc
Can you buy them without being a member
Good video and tips. I think a gulp or Zman will be on my jig though.
What have y’all found to be the best rod action and power for throwing popping cork/artificial shrimp ??

I have a stupid question, how would a live shrimp work opposed to an artificial shrimp?
For live shrimp, it's often best to let them move around on their own so just cast it in a good area, and let the live bait do the work.
@@Saltstrong Sounds good, thanks for the response.
What size of the Power Prawn for spring? Pensacola
Both sizes will work all year. I personally prefer the larger one because it weeds out some of the smaller fish.
what is a stud knot?
A fishing knot tied by a stud...
Snug* knot!
snuggle in knot! 🙂
Why are you tying a leader before and after popping cork. Seems goofy when you could time main line to popping cork
To prevent the braid from tangling
How do you adjust your depth in tidal waters? I would assume your having to cut your line and re-rig
You can get the kind of corks that snap on the line. So if needs to be adjusted you just undo one end and slide it up or down then rehook it to your line
Versa max corks allow for on the fly adjustments.
