    Have you ever found any lures or other fishing equipment while out on the water?
    In one of my recent trips, I found a popping cork, and since I was feeling adventurous, I decided to rig our new shrimp lure, the Power Prawn, under it and see how it did.
    As it turns out, this was a great idea!
    I caught several trout with it and a redfish, and in this video, you'll see why the Power Prawn works great under a popping cork (with some fun underwater footage), as well as some tips to catch more fish when using a popping cork.
    And finally, you'll also learn some of the most common mistakes anglers make when using popping corks that keep them from catching fish.
    So if you want to catch more fish with shrimp lures rigged under a popping cork this spring, then you're going to love this video!
    Have any questions about using popping corks?
    What's your favorite lure to use under them?
    Let me know down in the comments! And check out the full post here: bit.ly/2TytWZR

    Additional pro tip: The mainline can get tangled in the cork when casting if using braid or small diameter mono/fluoro. I use a short length leader of heavy mono to the cork itself. It doesnt affect casting distance and the stiffness of it keeps it from wrapping around the cork.

    Popping corks are op. Such an under rated piece of tackle. Great for shallows/flats and piers. Even for the surf. Good video!! Tight lines everyone!!

    These style popping corks are AWESOME.. always a go-to that almost always catches fish for me...
    BUT, although I do own a couple of the Bomber corks with the flexible wire and love them.. to say that Cajun Thunder is too cheap and not good is wrong. I have several of those that I've been using for a few years. With the bottom weights corroded and most of the paint gone from the cork, they still work just fine. The best thing for their longevity is to be careful, store them properly and check your line/knots as you fish.
    I also have several sizes because when the fish get picky the smaller, less obtrusive corks do work better at times.
    THANKS for the videos,...good stuff

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  Před 3 lety +1

      Sometimes the truth hurts... granted, I've caught a ton of fish with Cajun Thunders and they absolutely work, but the fact that I get 2-3 trips out of them before they start bending is pitiful compared to spending $3-$5 more on a higher quality cork with better frequency rattles/beads and synthetic wire strand that will last 20+ trips.

    I use the GT knot braid to mono connection and easily throw my knot thru guides using 6-10 feet of 15-20# mono leader. I also use a normal weighted popping cork as I feel the rattling corks attract some bit can spook larger fish.

    I have a stupid question, how would a live shrimp work opposed to an artificial shrimp?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  Před 3 lety +3

      For live shrimp, it's often best to let them move around on their own so just cast it in a good area, and let the live bait do the work.

    How do you adjust your depth in tidal waters? I would assume your having to cut your line and re-rig

    • @beaufortboy77
      @beaufortboy77 Před 2 lety

      You can get the kind of corks that snap on the line. So if needs to be adjusted you just undo one end and slide it up or down then rehook it to your line
