    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    My dad and myself would be bluegill fishing on a small lake in southeast Michigan. We’d be in a rowboat my dad would set down his pole and pick up this ancient steel pole with bait casting reel with a silver minnow spoon, sometimes with a uncle Josh’s pork frog. He’d cast that Dacron line and pull that thing close to weeds and catch pike and bass.

    Love your vids. I’ve caught many bass in summer on those old spoons that were covered in round dents all over one side. I’d throw them into cover and reel them steadily just fast enough for them to move side to side. Going fishing soon and can’t wait to try the technique in the vid.

    I fish striped bass with flutter spoon all the time. I own a summer saltwater charter, and we get a lot of customers for stripers. Happy to say I’ve been fishing them correctly, and showing my clients how to use them for years now.
    We use the giant ones for stripers. I like 9” copper spoons for our dark, Canadian salt water. Gold works good if yheres a lot of particulate in the water, and silver seems to work well after dark.

    Yup, my Dad’s old tackle box had some huge old red/white Daredevil spoons that had been thrashed by pike in his Minnesota days! I’ve never used them for bass. I’ve also never heard of the holding it while it unwinds to draw strikes. Fantastic tip and info! Thanks Randy. 😃👍🏼

    • @Stonehorn
      @Stonehorn Před rokem +1

      Yeah, those probably aren’t flutter spoons. Bass don’t like them much. Flutter spoons have a specific action that flutters down the column when you take tension off of them.

      @@Stonehorn - Yes, I was just commenting on Randy’s statement in the beginning of the video about back in the days of our parents, the only spoons available were those “Red and White” ones. So I brought up my Dads Daredevils since I think thats what he was referring to. 😊👍🏼

    Jigs and jigging spoons have taken off in the saltwater too. I bet some of the slow pitch and fast pitch stuff for saltwater would be good for deep bass too. The lighter rods and reels for saltwater jigging should be good too for vertical presentations.

    Anybody that lives in CA and fishes the California aqueduct. The flutter spoon works great! And don’t be scared of the size! Good luck out there! And yes. Jig it up & let it flutter down. Repeat. And if you fish like pumps with fast flowing water. It’s a killer!!!

    Don't knock the old eppinger red and white daredevle. I caught my first largemouth on one when I was like 12 years old. A seven pounder!! Using a zebco spincast combo trolling from a jon boat. These are great lures for bass too. Haven't used one in years, but it's the one lure that would always get me bites. I'm gonna try it this summer on Lake Wylie.

    As a kid, back in the late 50's, caught plenty of smallmouth & largemouth, on a Johnson spoon with a pork chunk trailer. Later called jig n pig. Generally, would pop it a bit then let it flutter down. Wasn't necessarily for suspended fish...but was deadly in deep creek holes in SE Oklahoma.

    In your eyes this guy is a legend because he found these fish with a flasher and caught them. But today if somebody does the same technique with livestope you feel it should be banned. I've heard you talk about how these fish out deep shouldn't be disturbed, and how they used to be uncatchable. Seems like a giant contradiction.

    • @curvinh6289
      @curvinh6289 Před 10 měsíci +2

      I think your leaving out the fact that doing it with a flasher is extremely difficult and almost nobody could do it !
      Livescope is built for that ! You cannot spotlight bass with a flasher .lol
      Just because someone figures out how to catch fish out deep with minimal technology and 1000s of hrs on the water does not compare with Livescope

    • @warren6172
      @warren6172 Před 4 měsíci

      Yea, comparing Livescope to a flasher is dumb.
      It’s a $$ thing for me. It’s like bass boats. You need a fast boat to be competitive (and have the balls to drive it that dangerously fast) what if someone invented an electronic lure that pisses a bass off and it hits it everytime but it costs $8k. Should that be legal?

    • @vittoriovuocolo2438
      @vittoriovuocolo2438 Před měsícem

      A flasher and livescope are two different worlds. You would be f#cked with a flasher they require skill.

In 2023 those spoon are getting expensive,, they cost around $6-$10 for that size now.. they sell all kind of colors, silver, golden, red, blue, some even have fish painting on it…. and when you use those spoon, they can get stuck in the weed and rocks at the bottom.
