Must Have Spoon For Surf Fishing - Artificial Lure Fishing From The Beach

  • One of the best artificial lures you can use while surf fishing is the spoon. It is versatile, easy to use, durable, affordable, and effective! I have caught more fish from the beach using a spoon over any other artificial lure that I have in my tackle box.
Of all the spoons on the market, there has been one that stands above the rest recently which is the Kastmaster by Acme Tackle Co. This spoon is highly aerodynamic which means you can efficiently cast it a long way, which is critical for surf fishing.
In this video, we show you exactly why the Kastmaster spoon is so effective and go over our setup when using it.

Just a suggestion. Collect your offcuts line in a little plastic bag instead of just cutting it and let it drop in the sand. Us fisherman are under immense pressure from the greenies as it is.

Great outfit down there and there are several other great guide outfits. Haha so yah I am promoting them but the Spanish Mackerel! Now THAT was a fun catch! They just slam it and run! I've had other BPM baits czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Just a tip, part of the reason you might have been broken off was the loop knot. They aren't as strong as a normal knot like the Palomar knot. And since there's a split ring, the loop knot is kinda redundant in terms of action.

Great Surf Fishing. I am big into Contrast, when it comes to lure Color. I bet if you blacken th top portion edge, say 3/8 " , with felt marker , you will ketch more fish.
Minnows obviously have dark backs , and this will give off a silhouette shadow as it , rocks and flashes through the water. It gives the appearance of a minnow titlting, swimming out of Rythem. Try Blue silver Kastmasters as well, and Gold on overcast days. Yes try the Polymer Knot. The Braid isnt necessary, I would just use a Quality Mono line , add a ," AQUATICO INVISISWIVEL , actually a florocarbon swivel, not Kidding!, and the a Short leader and your Kastmaster of choice.

The kreh loop isn't as strong as a cinching knot like a uni. The split ring lets it flop around anyway. I'd either pull the ring off to tie the kreh loop, or leave it on and tie a uni knot, or take it off and uni knot a powerclip so I can change between spoons / gotcha plugs / whatever with the powerclip replacing the split ring and it stays with the leader instead of with the lure.

Great video, I learned a lot. This is my first summer salt water fishing (been bass fishing years though). My first salt water rod was 7 feet, then I bought a 10 foot surf rod to fish on actual beaches. If I’m going somewhere with waves and surf, should I just leave the 7 foot rod at home cause I can’t passed the surf? In other words, can fish be caught in the surf and waves? If I have a bottom rig in my surf rod is it worth throwing a spoon into the waves with my 7 foot rod? Or is that a waste of time? Thanks!

Bring it! 2 lines out is better than one so why not try to increase the odds. If it is too rough and your line is getting pushed everywhere and getting all twisted, then reel it back in... no harm done.
