When you kneel and acknowledge the thicket king cockroach, he will task you with killing a creature attempting to become a butterfly and escape the depths.
He will give you quests that make you able to get affinity with the god of the depths, so you can access his abilities in the hexen. (BUT this is completely useless because the only character that can start with mastery over insects is enki, and one of the quests the cockroach give is to kill enki)
I find kinda cute how much apreciation the bugs have for the player the little boys just want to help
I think it would be a bit more useful if, like the pinecone pig, insects came now and then to bring you gifts.

The second bug is a hint that one of the hanging corpses is holding some silver coins.

All the different scarabs have different overworld dialogues. I think their battle dialogue is the same tho.
So you just walk around and get a message, right? Never seen someone used it
No you do have to press z/enter on the location the bug goes to.
