Enki’s S ending seems to imply that he followed Nosramus’ lead in his more controlled, more shared pursuit of knowledge. It’s Nos who gives Enki the Soul Anchor to keep him aground, resisting the temptation of godhood, and they probably met again as he walked back.
Enki lost godhood, but found companionship. Someone to nerd out with, let’s say. It’s so beautiful.

I think it is important to note that the reality of the Golden Throne is even more bizarre and interesting than one might assume. See, it wasn't that the gods tired of humanity, but that they became afraid of humanity's potential. See, as humans understand a concept more thoroughly, it changes the god that concept is attached to. At some point, humanity killed two gods, once on accident and once on purpose, through this process. So the Golden Throne was used to stop humanity's progress. *It failed.*
Before we begin, the nature of the Golden Throne is critical for understanding everything I'm about to say. In Termina, it is shown that the Golden Throne was created by the lizardmen, a race that existed before humanity did. What happened to the lizardmen, exactly, is unknown, but they are clearly extremely long-lived, since there is still at least a couple left alive by the time of Fear and Hunger with no evidence of them ever breeding in the area. They were the ones who originally created the Golden Throne, and it is possible that the Lizardmen were the first Old Gods, having ascended themselves to that position. Given that the throne was made for the lizardmen by the lizardmen, it is no mystery what the throne gives such limited godhood to humans: It was never meant for humans to begin with.
After the cataclysm that all but annihilated the lizardmen, the Old Gods created humanity to fill the gap left by the lizardmen so they could continue to exist, since their existence is tied to a concept, and a concept can only exist if there is someone to conceptualize it. Without realizing it, however, with the creation of humanity the Old Gods sealed their fate for they knew not the terror that they had unleashed upon themselves.
Now we being to explain why the Golden Throne is a trap, and why it was set. Per a Skin Bible written by Enki, the goddess of Nature died due to humanity coming to understand nature enough that it held no real mysteries anymore. Yes, there were things that weren't fully understood, but enough was understood that very few supernatural concepts of mysteries were attached to it anymore. The old gods are defined by humanity's understanding, or perhaps it would be better to say their misunderstanding, of what a concept is. So when that concept is understood enough, the god attached to that concept dies. A god of the gaps can only exist if there are gaps left that they can occupy, and when those gaps disappear, so to does the god.
Alll-Mer's ascension revolves around the death of another god, the god of the sun. As demonstrated with the Girl's apotheosis, in order for an ascended god to rise, an old god has to die. Before the player can see reach the place where her apotheosis takes place, the hearts of the God of the Depths had to be pierced, killing the old god. The old god's death fuels the ascension. While we don't have every detail, it does give us a blueprint for how Alll-Mer would have ascended and what it cost.
Alll-Mer's corpse is interred at Mahabre, and it is still reasonably fresh in the past when the throne is reachable, and despite the city having a sun underground, it is a cold thing that gives light but no heat, indicating that it died along with the god. This implies that the time loop was established shortly after Alll-Mer's death, when there wouldn't be a human-aligned god to prevent it. That timing is critically important, because the death of Alll-Mer marked the end of humanity having a god that had their back and could break the loop.
In the aftermath of Alll-Mer's death, the Old Gods gave humanity the Golden Throne, a poison chalice that offered power but also extremely strict limitations. A leash to hold back the ambitious and to halt human progress. From the moment a human first sat upon the throne, a time loop began. A time loop meant to be perpetual, and very nearly was.
From there, the pattern is simple enough: New god ascends, new world order established, time passes, new god becomes old and impotent, humans come to Mahabre in the past and kill the new gods, humans sit upon the golden throne, new god ascends, repeat. The new gods that sit in the hall aren't simply dead, but erased from the timeline, having been killed shortly after ascending, their reign having been ended before it began. Based on the seemingly endless number of new gods we see, this has been going on for countless iterations of the cycle... until Enki comes along, sees the cycle as the trap it is, and breaks it. From there, humanity begins to move forward once again.
All of this was to halt human progress and give the Old Gods a chance to escape humanity before the old gods were erased utterly. The old gods left traces of themselves behind, like a divine automated answering service to answer prayers so no one would realize that the gods had left. That's because if humanity could kills gods, even if by accident, then there's no limit to their potential, and one day humanity might find a way to reach that place that the gods fled to, and in comprehending that much about the gods and divinity itself, humanity might very well destroy the gods themselves while trying to find them.
Given that humanity broke free from this seemingly impossible to escape trap, and one of the endings of Termina is based on one of the characters looking to reach the moon and find answers about what happened with Rher, god of the moon, they were right to be afraid, because very little will stop human progress, and that progress will kill the gods without humanity ever realizing they are doing it. The old gods fear humanity, and they are right to do so.

Im surprised you didnt bring up ragna's S ending, which literally refers to him as the god of ultra violence. I think its a perfect mirror to his ascension ending, where his grief and rage consumed him, causing him unending torment, while his S ending is him turning that suffering into a drive to rid the world of monster's and darkness, making the world a better place, and saving lives in the process. Its ironically a very heroic ending, considering the name and reputation it earns him.

A union with such beings doesn’t make something benevolent that’s good for humanity.

How I think each of the player gods would go about their rule.
Enki wouldn't share the gospel and wouldn't try to save humanity.
Whilst a fun character, one would struggle to call Enki's motivation anything over than selfish. He comes to the dungeon after receiving visions of Le'Garde but his goals tie into his wish to become the god that golden haired Griffith is destined to become. Once achieving divinity, he tells us how the people aren't ready for the knowledge he's possessed. Additionally, his helmet also blocks the outside world, letting him pursue the further mysteries in solitude. I feel that Enki wouldn't particularly care about the wider world enough to create a religion. Instead, he would live through horrid times as a mysterious yet frighteningly powerful figure who would spread his teachings to only a select few that purposefully seek out his lessons.
D'arce would share her gospel and would immediately help and rule over humanity.
As said in the video, D'arce's dominating soul mainly leads to her loyalty to Le'Gard. Once the deadbeat dad is out of the picture, she would form her own goals and from what we see, they aren't pretty. Once D'arce's bitch ass haircut goes, so do her qualms. We see her speak of purest domination, appearing like a dark tyrant of fantasy, strong and ruthless enough to protect her subjects, yet selfish enough to believe that she's the only one worthy enough to rule.
Upon ascension, she would immediately begin conquering cities and spreading her religion of dominance and strength above all. She would mercilessly stomp out any opposition, becoming a cruel god leading a religion of warmongering, bloodshed and control. Eventually, her own teachings would work against her as the strong would rise up against her. Some would seek to express their own dominance, some would fight to protect their friends and families but all of her enemies would fight to see D'arce's head on a spike.
Cahara would seek freedom but eventually be drawn to help those in need.
Throughout the journey, Cahara seems like someone who's fighting against himself. He plays as a callous thief, yet he's in the dungeon for altruistic reasons. He's a scoundrel, a cunning fighter, a total assface, certainly, but he's not an inherently evil person. Once ascending to godhood, I see Cahara as a mysterious wonderer, dropping in across villages and cities, taking in all there is to see and all there is to do before going off on his merry way, never wavering, never looking back. At least, he doesn't until the wars start. He doesn't want to, he wants to be free as a leaf on the winds of a storm, but something in him, something sickeningly human forces him to turn around to help someone who's screaming for help. Of course Cahara will play the callous card again. 'I was only here for the fight,' he would say unprompted. 'Your lives mean nothing to me.'
Despite his dedication to appearing neutral and selfish, Cahara would help wherever he could. He would free prisoners, stop pillagers, save innocents. He would ask a price of course, but he would only take so much gold as his 'employers' could afford to give. Some say that after a while, he would pass the gold onto overs.
Eventually, he would start spreading his teachings of freedom and of strength, the freedom to decide your own course, the strength to defend who and what matters most. Cahara insisted that he spread these teachings so that the people would defend themselves instead of relying on him, but those closest to him would think otherwise.
Ragnavala- Ragen- Ragnv- Fuck it, Rag n Bone man would spread his religion before fucking off to god knows where.
To say that Raggie had a tough life would be an understatement. In fact, it's better to say that he was the favourite pin cushion of Gro-Goroth. Destined to undergo a life of torment and suffering, it's no surprise that Ragtime was hardened by his experiences and became a monster of a man. He was prepared for life to hate him, he was prepared to lose over and over again, but he wasn't expecting to become a god. Having the power to protect innocents, Ragnar set off to make sure that what happened to him would never happen to anyone again. He found a village much like his own that was under constant attack from all manner of threats. For years, he stayed, slaying bandits, saving villagers and shedfing so much blood that locals began to call him a god of ultra-violence whilst others saw him as a demon.
Rag against the machine had more goals he wanted to achieve: He would free Rondon from it's corrupt leaders, purify the country of Vinland and flay any creature that had ever tasted human blood. He was prepared for this, steadfast until he saw an act that disgusted him. On a calm, summer morning, a man came to Ragson and asked him to bring his family food. When asked why not find food himself, the man said Ragatha was their protector and should help him. There wasn't anything horrible in the man's words, but Raggie was infuriated with the realization that by protecting these people so fully, they had become reliant on him. If he were to leave, they would soon come under attack and would be utterly helpless.
Rag refused the offer and later that day, he taught the village a lesson they would not soon forget. Another threat befell the village in the form of a hungry brown bear that came charging into the village. Livestock was eaten, men, women and children were attacked and injured, some even died and throughout all this, Ragnar simply sat back and watched until the bear had caused wounds that the people would not soon forget. Ragnakiri relented, grabbing the raging bear by the throat and snapping its neck with one hand. In a bizarre act of magic, Raggie merged himself with the beast, bringing it back to life with his head clasped firmly beneath its jaws. At this bizarre spectacle, Ragson saw how the people, bloodied and confused, winced at the sight of him. An old man fainted whilst a young woman threw up.
It's here, that the religion of Ragagagaga was born. The torment that these people had faced has changed them forever, given them deep scars that will remain and change their lives. But these wounds weren't to be feared, they were to be welcomed with open arms and happy hearts for pain is the greatest teacher. Through their suffering, the would learn how to stop it from happening again, how to protect others and how to protect themselves.
With this lesson, Reggie would depart and begin spreading his gospel. The bloodied bear would be seen by all, heard by all and feared by all. His teachings were of self-reliance, self-improvement and of acceptance. Suffering is a part of life, to think that a god will spare you of it is a fool's folly. Despair not, however, for the pain you feel will help you, so long as you accept it.
When times grew worse, when warlords and monsters and every horrid thing under the sun plagued the lands, the tormented god was nowhere to be seen. And yet, all knew his teachings. Every town, every village and every home would have a statue of the red god, bloody tears flowing from the bear's teeth onto a content smile of a man.
He was gone, but Ragnvaldr's teachings helped millions.

Perhaps but the Casca and Guts comparisons are a stretch. The creator has said D'arce is inspired by Jean D'arc and he had plans for her before he even read Berserk. Similar thing to Ragnvaldr he has pretty much nothing in common with Guts and is likely more of a reference to Konan the Barbarian.

I think the symbol that Cahara wears on his armor and that is embroidered onto him isn't one of his biological family but for the family he intended to have with Celeste.
Its more of a "wear this on your shoulder" type of deal where Cahara fights for the family he oh so wishes to have and preserve having it protect him quite literally during his time in the dungeons.
Then maybe when he ascends to godhood and remains eternally trapped as a lapdog of the old gods, he would has that symbol as a reminder of something he could've obtained, had he not sat on the throne.

I don't think ascension is that doomed of a fate, if you do all the best choices in the D ending, you end up having about as much influence as the OLD gods, and your reign lasts pretty much forever. I think it's the fault of those who becomes New Gods themselves as to why they become irrelevant, living in seclusion or being way to specific in what their focus is to have mass appeal, like chambara living to torture people and himself or valtiel seeking knowledge only for himself and never sharing with the rest of humanity, while in the D ending, you can have the title of the "Merciful One" and give hope to the masses, which seems much more encompassing and thus a target of more praise which in turns keeps you in power. Grogoroth mentions that he gave us the power to become gods to solve our own issues since we blamed everything on the old ones I believe, aswell as nostramus saying it is the fault of humanity for their own problems. Sure their power is limited but that doesn't mean New Gods can't become worthy, everlasting deities in their own right.

Best example of this is probably ironically Nas'hrah, who despite being beheaded has not declined in power or visibly aged, even though he's older than the current four New Gods by a long shot. Compare this to Chambara who is actively dying in the present era, at least partially from age. The only thing that seems to have dusted Nas was standing up to the traces of Gro-Groroth.

Yeah, it’s weird. I believe miro was asked about what legarde’s soul type is on twitter, and he responded saying that if you try taking legarde’s soul, that’s the answer. So presumably he has none.
Something else you might not know is that the little girl is also unique because she has an “ancient soul” if you take her soul. Makes me wonder what her new god form would be as well.

The king in yellow form makes sense if he has no soul.
Hastur (the original king in yellow) never existed, not even in his own book.
The king in yellow has no form and no name. We humanity gave him a form and name by our selves.
So one with no soul would look like one with no soul as well.

Ah, that’s pretty cool. Out of curiosity, would you know anything more about the symbolism of the yellow king in fear and hunger?

    • @grimafellheart2182
      @grimafellheart2182 Před 4 měsíci +9

      @slysamuel5902
The king in yellow is based on a book that has 10 parts. We will just do parts that help with the theory as the king in yellow is very complex.
A play that has been censored and lost is called "The King in Yellow". This play was censored and lost because anyone who saw it went mad. The best thing that happened when someone saw the play was thinking that they were the king in yellow.
Le-guard represents the man who thought he was the king in yellow by interpreting the prophecy as he is the one to save the world. With due time, his belief in something that is fake would become reality. Just like how Hastur, the person we think as the king in yellow, never had a form till we thought of one.
Our next part is about a man who dies and goes to a place called Carcosa. Carcosa is described many times as hollow, unnatural, eerie, grand, divine, and empty. Wouldn't you agree that many of these descriptions fit the dungeon and its places to a T? Now here's the crazy part. Carcosa is the king in yellow's heaven.
A place that is filled with divine power yet is hollow, empty and eerie... just like the end of fear and hunger where the player and their 3 companions enter the empty world of the old gods that are filled with unnatural things and divine monsters.
Many creatures also wear yellow in fear and hunger, but all are also represented with snakes and lizards. Snakes and lizards are cold-blooded and "heartless", only carrying for themselves and their desires. Now, who do we know that only cares about what they want in fear and hunger? I think Le-guarde fits that description with his manipulation and the fact that he destroyed towns just to further his goal on his prophecy. For proof, Le-guarde had manipulated the knight, D'arce, and killed the wife and kid of Ragnvaldr.
If we make Le-guarde the king in yellow and escape we get snippets of info that Le-guarde had conquered the entire continent without violence somehow. Maybe like many of the old gods Le-guarde used a symbol to manipulate the minds and powers of others. Like the king in yellow's sign that warps human minds to worship him and his symbol.
The king in yellow represents insanity and decadence, which means over indulgence in pleasure and luxury. With Le-guarde wanting to be a God and having no soul. Perhaps Le-guarde is trying to fill his empty soul with power and riches. After all, yellow is the color of gold, status, and power.

If we don’t enter “the dungeon” we often wake up one day and realize we were always there.
