I have now watched hundreds of your videos, all Great! The camera view in this one was a great reality check in just how small theses boards and components really are.
I didn't know I'd miss your videos that much. Glad you are back!i like your to the point no time wasting format.. keep it up!
You make it look trivial !! Every time I look at your videos I'm convinced I could do it, but I know I have a long way to go, hahaha! Kudos !!
Excellent! Appreciate your knowledge and technique sharing even though it was a partial repair. Ty And the comment about time management. Very true. Good advice!
Great Job bro. I enjoy watching your videos. It's becoming a daily routine.
I have enjoyed watching your videos all day long. Not tired. Break only for lunch and take a walk
I'm so addicted to watching your videos. Keep it up ❤️
Love that thermal cam and how you troubleshoot
I rly love the sincerity of your vids. You make me hopefull, to get business honest and truthfull. I appreciate every of your vids!
beautiful soldering! :o) xx
These things are sent to try us. BIG 👍 from me. 🇬🇧
Great Job! I like your Videos! Greetings from Germany!
one of the Usb-C connectors have a bent pin, the second Connector you show on the video.
0:48 nooo theres ur short,u can clearly see a bent pin shorting the connector!
Yep, I saw that also :D
True.
Good job...greetings from egypt
Macbooks have exactly the same thing, those chips always die, Great work
Another great video
love u brother i'm from morocco god bless you
Nice job! Does the chip contain already solder on the pins? Would soldering be more reliable by pre soldering all the pads with 60/40 solder?
Nice as always
Looking forward to part B
What thermal camera should I use?
In one video you said 60 fps minimum, but this particular data is not mentioned on the technical specs of any camera.
Much appreciate for your help on this one
maşaallah nice work
That was awesome. I would like to chat you privately. I really like your service.
Which EFI programmer for Macbook do you use?
Can you make a Video about tools you are using?
Love from India
Currently dealing with similar issue. 5Have customer with 15" Spectre, no charger either port, I didn't think it was port, I think you help confirm my thoughts. Very curious what issue is! Thank you for your videos, I will go buy the type charge testing adapter to help support you!
What flux do you use please? The types I have used before vaporise immediately when soldering iron is applied.
what heat/air settings do you use for each step?
High heat/low air volume? Lower heat/higher air volume?
How much heat and for how long can these chips take before they are toast? Thank you
Regarding damaged solder pads, what about cutting new pads from say Zinc strips gluing the pad down instead of using very thin enamel coated copper wire? Zinc strip is used to wire up batteries and is more corrosion resistant than copper (just a thought)
Anyway i can't wait to find out if replacing the power ic solves this issue, i feel like i've been left on a cliff hanger! 🤔
Nice
Great Job, you really amazed me on every successful troubleshooting you have done..
By the way may i know what is the brand or model of Hot Air you are using and also what Application you are using to view the schematic diagram and the block diagram as well for all main logic board of all models MBP, MBA and iMac?...TIA!
I think he uses quick 861dw
Why you don’t check for short still present or not before putting new component on the board? Just to be on the safe side.

Hie. Quick question. I have a Dell XPS 7590. It blew that same IC now it wont switch on or charge using the barrel charger or Type C . I tried replacing it with a new one from aliexpress but still nothing. All it does is just turn on the keyboard for 10 sec and goes off. If I try using the barrel charger the charging indicator only lights up for around 5 seconds and goes off.
The display diagnosis Power button + D works.
I spot a pad ripped off the PCB on the IC footprint, bottom row 3rd from left (7:20) . It does have a trace connected to it. But nice video none the less.
No power drawing... So what are you expecting to see on a flir? What ciuld go in high temp as long as no power is passing through your board?
So, did you manage to fix it? I cant find the follow up video.
165/5000
It is a video from January, but anyway I want to comment, the fault is that this component that emits heat is divided in two, watching the video I realized it, at min 17:44 . saludos desde Mexico
If I may ask, when you put your DMM in diode mode to check capacitors, what values are you looking for?
Usually between O.4 - 0.7
The link to the ic you used. Can't seem to find it on your website..Will be good if the website gets a makw over. By brand
Hellow. What is the ideal hot air temperature and air speed on that size of IC?
Do pin the solution if you find the problem. Thanks. You're like the Federer of repair
Good
Friend ur work was great im from Indian can u tell me which types of camera u check the temperature camera just give me name
Did you eventually end up fixing this one?
Question? My GDP WIN handheld gaming console is dead no fan or lcd, just a blue light on the front when powering on. I re programmed the bios chip and everything come back no errors in programming bios but still no boot only blue light.. I checked all the compositors and they are all good with 1 side grounded and other not, mosfits are all reading, but right beside where the battery plugs in there a little flat fuse with ( R010 ) and both sides of it beep? Is that fuse only supposed to beep on the grounded side and other side not grounded without any beeps? I can’t find anything on YT that let’s me know if power goes through it so both ends beep in diode mode or just the ground end and not the other? I seen on this board your working on has the same R010 chip as my board has and was hoping you or anyone in comments could let me know..... thanks
for my view I noticed that board got lots of water. oxidation was all over the board. The whole board needs to be clean with 99 isopropanol.
Around 0:40-0:55 - Both ports do not look good, the one to the left has cracked plastic to the right and the right hand port has a bent gold pin clearly visible on the right hand side.
I haven't finished watching but I get the feeling this repair doesn't go so well.
Great video , however I found it weird that you checked with the thermal cam , after you established there was no current draw from the charger.
The laptop still has a battery in it and is trying to power on. That's why.
8:25 didn't use hot tweezers??
I think I have the same issue on an ASUS PRO B9440UA - stopped receiving external power via USB-C.
Where should i buy ic power spectre?
Any idea on how to downgrade the BIOS on a HP laptop?
What the difference between the two fluxes
you fix it?
WHERE is part 2 ???
May i ask you. Do we always put red probe on ground. And not the black probe.? Thanks
Absolutely not. It depends on what you’re trying to measure. If you want the total capacitance between, say, some Vdd and ground, you put positive on Vdd, because some caps are polarized.
In diode mode, you sometimes do put positive on ground (if you’re checking for a faulty Flyback diode).
There is no yes or no answer, you need, at the very least, some electronics knowledge. You must have in mind the functioning principle and the basic properties of the circuit you’re testing.
I don't fully understand why when looking for shorts he puts ground to positive either, a short (a very low ohmic value) is a short and continuity will fire off the same which ever way the probes go?
It does not matter which probe you use if you are testing continuity between two components. He is just checking if both sides of the cap are connected to ground. If a positive side is found to be connected to ground, it means that it is shorted.
0 amps drawn so where is the power coming from to heat up that IC chip?
No current is drawn from the USB ports. But don’t forget that the motherboard main Vbus is at 19.5V when the motherboard is powered on. The charger attempts to impose that voltage on the bus. In case of a S.C. any of the two things can happen :
- The charger detects it and the switching of the PSU is inhibited ;
- The S.C. detection is bypassed or the current drawn is within the specs for a laptop (< 2 A). That is still a big amount of current for any single IC.
The Uni-T USB-Tester is UNIDIRECTIONAL, you put it in wrong direction to the Board so it CANT supply any current to the device, look at the bottom side of the tester
I have one of those and I thought the same thing but I tested it today and to my surprise it works either way. So its actually bidirectional.
How much cost this repair-reflow???
mine no power no charging, but when complete disassembly and re assembly, it turn on and charging. but when shutdown windows and press power button, no power and no charging again. strange.
How much did you charge for this repair ?
Hello friend, I need the board View for the Dell XPS 15 9550 AAM00 LA-C361P 2014-05-22 board. I am a technician in the Dominican Republic

I didn't understand the reason of Dislike on this video
“It’s almost always never a port issue”
🤔
Flash the bios first sir i hope that can fix laptop not turn on. If still of replace ic that on off because that ic is step down sir
Not a bios issue, my money is on the Power IC and it's failed open
the USB-C voltage should be a jump from 5v to 20v. you cant power on any USB-C Laptop with 5v on any laptop.
It's showing 5v because the switching is not being made. That's what the problem is. A USB-C adapter offers many voltages based on what the adapter is being asked to output.
@@matduran1104 bang on.
@@matduran1104 it just that he keeps mentioning 5v and he thought he fixed
usb-c is wonky to say the least
USB THUNDERBOLT SUCKS.... 🤔🤔🤔 I NEVER USE THAT PORT.
Owners of this machine obviously don't have a choice, since it's the only source of power.
I hear Arabic Lebanon talking in thr background?
Does your beard help you fix laptops?
Can you NOT pronounce the word "spectre" ?????
