    Regarding damaged solder pads, what about cutting new pads from say Zinc strips gluing the pad down instead of using very thin enamel coated copper wire? Zinc strip is used to wire up batteries and is more corrosion resistant than copper (just a thought)
    Anyway i can't wait to find out if replacing the power ic solves this issue, i feel like i've been left on a cliff hanger! 🤔

    Hie. Quick question. I have a Dell XPS 7590. It blew that same IC now it wont switch on or charge using the barrel charger or Type C . I tried replacing it with a new one from aliexpress but still nothing. All it does is just turn on the keyboard for 10 sec and goes off. If I try using the barrel charger the charging indicator only lights up for around 5 seconds and goes off.
    The display diagnosis Power button + D works.

    Question? My GDP WIN handheld gaming console is dead no fan or lcd, just a blue light on the front when powering on. I re programmed the bios chip and everything come back no errors in programming bios but still no boot only blue light.. I checked all the compositors and they are all good with 1 side grounded and other not, mosfits are all reading, but right beside where the battery plugs in there a little flat fuse with ( R010 ) and both sides of it beep? Is that fuse only supposed to beep on the grounded side and other side not grounded without any beeps? I can’t find anything on YT that let’s me know if power goes through it so both ends beep in diode mode or just the ground end and not the other? I seen on this board your working on has the same R010 chip as my board has and was hoping you or anyone in comments could let me know..... thanks

    May i ask you. Do we always put red probe on ground. And not the black probe.? Thanks

    • @crazyphil7782
      @crazyphil7782 Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely not. It depends on what you’re trying to measure. If you want the total capacitance between, say, some Vdd and ground, you put positive on Vdd, because some caps are polarized.
      In diode mode, you sometimes do put positive on ground (if you’re checking for a faulty Flyback diode).
      There is no yes or no answer, you need, at the very least, some electronics knowledge. You must have in mind the functioning principle and the basic properties of the circuit you’re testing.

    • @cjdelphi
      @cjdelphi Před 4 lety

      I don't fully understand why when looking for shorts he puts ground to positive either, a short (a very low ohmic value) is a short and continuity will fire off the same which ever way the probes go?

    • @Abdelali82141
      @Abdelali82141 Před 4 lety

      It does not matter which probe you use if you are testing continuity between two components. He is just checking if both sides of the cap are connected to ground. If a positive side is found to be connected to ground, it means that it is shorted.

  • @cjdelphi
    @cjdelphi Před 4 lety +2

    0 amps drawn so where is the power coming from to heat up that IC chip?

    • @crazyphil7782
      @crazyphil7782 Před 4 lety +3

      No current is drawn from the USB ports. But don’t forget that the motherboard main Vbus is at 19.5V when the motherboard is powered on. The charger attempts to impose that voltage on the bus. In case of a S.C. any of the two things can happen :
      - The charger detects it and the switching of the PSU is inhibited ;
      - The S.C. detection is bypassed or the current drawn is within the specs for a laptop (< 2 A). That is still a big amount of current for any single IC.

  • @boooziii2740

    The Uni-T USB-Tester is UNIDIRECTIONAL, you put it in wrong direction to the Board so it CANT supply any current to the device, look at the bottom side of the tester
