They did it a little bit different than most bands though. I realize Pornograffiti wasn't their first album...but back then, every time a band released a new album, the FIRST single was usually a rocker. THEN the ballad came. But you're right in that it was very formulaic. But "More than Words" was the first single from Pornograffiti.

Funny is that Extreme are always mentioned by More Than Words and the other single Hole Hearted. The rest of the Pornografitti album was so funky and heavy. Listen to Decadence Dance and Get the Funk Out. Their vocalist Gary Cherone later replaced Sammy Hagar in Van Halen and sang on the Van Halen III album. If people bought Pornografitti after listening to the two singles they were in for a surprise. The rest of the album was totally different. The follow-up III Sides to Every Story was a great album but totally different. More like a concept album

Our house is paid for, bills are paid monthly, and we have 4 pets to keep me company at home because I am a disabled stroke survivor since 2007. A couple of years ago, he fell at work & broke his leg in two places. I made sure he was fed & watered for the 2 weeks prior to him getting a walking cast. He only did what he wanted & was able to do. He told me I didn't need to baby him (his words) so much. I replied that it was my chance to care for him as well as he does for me & I would be damned if I let that opportunity pass.

A very enjoyable reaction, as always. I have always loved this ballad. I was a young paratrooper in the 82nd when that song first came out. Good times. If you two want to listen to someone considered to be the best vocalist in the world, and likely in recorded history, listen to Dimash Kudaibergen (Qudaibergen). Vocal coaches, professional singers, and industry experts the world over all agree that there is no one like him in recorded history. He sings in more than12 different languages and also plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. During his live concerts, he usually performs for more than two hours and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles.
His range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), according to some analysts, spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest are vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during any live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His main genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, vocal styles, and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g. screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap, as well as Tribal and Middle Eastern styles. He can go from Barry White to Mariah Carey in a single run. If you are interested, check out his 2018 performance of "S.O.S." at Slavic Bazaar, his 2018 performance of "Sinful Passion" at New Wave, or his performance of "Stranger" at 2021 New Wave. You will not believe your ears and you will never look at other singers the same again.

I met them on this tour. A friend of mine was doing a start-up Rock magazine, and because I knew a lot about the band, she wanted me to interview them. About halfway through the interview, their manager walked up and pulled us aside asking for our passes. Little did I know, my friend hadn't gone through the channels, and just had word-of-mouth from the local radio station that we could interview them. So halfway through my interview, we were thrown out. Gary came up to me right after, said it wasn't right, and offered me backstage passes to finish the interview. I thanked them all profusely.
After leaving, my friend and I had a difference of 'opinion' on a few things, so I never made the concert...but they were great guys.

Extreme also has so many rocking songs too. Nuno is an awesome guitarist. He is very underrated. Check out the tracks 'Kid Ego', 'Play With Me', 'Get the Funk Out', 'Pornograffitti', all great rocking tracks!

This band did this song, 2 heavy metal songs, and a Frank Sinatra cover all on the same album. They are Extreme. One other thing the lead singer Gary Cherone did an album with Van Halen.

Everyone always talks about how sweet a love song this is. I used to hear the same thing. One day my view changed and now what I hear is a sleazy guy pressuring a girl to put out." You say you love me, but you can prove it without words."
But there is no doubt about the amazing talent of the guys in Extreme. Their skill, vocal and instrumental, is showcased in their diverse style.

I watched this band a few years ago in my home city, Newcastle in UK. They were fantastic, always loved this band. However, the thing that stands out for me is that when they finished the three band members of the four went in to the crowd, and they were there for at least 15-20 minutes! Talking and shaking hands even though they risked possible injury! I have never ever seen that before. Huge respect to them. They obviously care genuinely for people who like their music!
A7X are that kind of band also. I watched Dream Theater Newcastle last night, and although they remained on the stage, they stayed for about 10 minutes and almost seemed reluctant to go off! These two bands are mega stars and musicians, but you just know that the fans aren’t just their meal ticket in their eyes, they care about the fans, and appreciate them totally.
