That Micro Center employee who showed up is literally the coolest dude ever. That is an A1 employee. Dude has helped me and all my friends with our builds.
Great to see employees loving their work.
The Greatest Technician That's Ever Lived
Wasnt expecting to see you here lol, but i love your content and hope i can do something similar
No no he isn't he could have caused alot of damage to that 1st PC just by turning it on like he did without bothering to check if power cables were plugged in properly or for any loose hardware that wasn't seated properly
Wasn't expected, but love your famous line.
@@Athlonite69 You do realize he's making a reference to his own content, right? Check him out, he's pretty funny.
@@Athlonite69 the people at microcenter aren't going to configure a test like this with potentially short circuited connections, and Jay knows this. That would be incredibly unsafe. Put some respect on the man's experience with PCs. 😂😂😂
Really appreciate all of you that work on the channel. You have helped me hundreds of times with builds, overclocking etc. Not only have you helped me and countless others learn a ton, you have made the information easy to digest. Thank you all so so much 🙏🏻
what the heck did they do? well he wanted them to stump him so they have to be creative🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It never ceases to amaze me that after 40 years in the business I can still make just as many rookie mistakes as I always did! Looks like I'm not alone! 🤣🤣🤣
would have been funny had they put an old msi bios on then set the year to 3955 and installed windows to corrupt the windows install🤣🤣
I used to build servers, workstations, and business desktops for HP around the time they merged with Compaq, so I've been doing it for about a minute too. I still find myself making little dumb mistakes once in a while.
I laughed when Jay was in a fault finding competition with Linus and he thought no NVME was installed because it was stuck on the heat sink.
We have all done that sort of thing.
@@alexedwards6509 well you have I have not because I am smarter then you🤣🤣

I wish the uk had nationwide microcentres and newegg stores, makes me want to live in the us
US is so f****d up that even newegg or microcenter won't make me want to move there.
I live in the U.S. and there's nothing near me. It's only very select locations, mostly places like California.
I only know of like 3 micro center stores in the whole US, the one jayz in and two are in cities about 4 hours away from me
The US doesn't have nationwide microcenters.
TN has an NFL football team a NHL hockey team and an NBA team but no microcenters.
OH has 2 and GA has 2 for example. There are several states that don't have a microcenter. So if you live in TN like I do you would have to go to OH or GA. The Toasty Bros who live in Louisville KY go to one of the OH microcenters.
If I stay in TN I would likely go to one of the GA ones.
I say if I stay because I am thinking of moving to another state which while it also lacks microcenters is closer to OH. I am retiring and want out of TN but I would like to either get my pc upgraded or get a more powerful one.
I have 2 pcs one an older Cyberpower that I bought at a pawn shop many years ago but it still runs albeit barely and a ABS from Newegg that was given to me as a present. I play games on the ABS but it is a starting to show its age and having issues so I would like to get it upgraded or replaced.
Finding somewhere in the UK for PC parts is a nightmare. Pretty much stuck with Amazon.
I have a powerspec pre-built and it's great. When I got it home I noticed a noise that seemed to be coming from the power supply. I took the system back to get looked at and they said they could not here the noise but would replace the power supply just in case. They also noticed the AIO I had was under recall and they replaced that as well. I was not charged a dime and I do not have an extended warranty. A+ customer service.
For some reason whenever im having a crappy day and i start a jay video and hes up beat and positive and happy, it makes me in a better mood for sure. Helps alot to be distracted and see what jay has on the go
Same here, I sometimes just put on any video from JayzTwoCents to have it running in the background because it's like having friends in the background doing stuff. I just realized it sounds like I don't have any friends, and I kinda don't but I'm a "Sigma Male" and like my solitude. But sometimes it's nice just to have something other than music running in the background that you don't have to listen to, too closely. I also watch derbauer like this. Radio is too damn boring to listen to and they play crap music 9/10 times.
@@sykoteddy Totally agree and im the same way, i can caveman for months and be just fine but also nice to ahve somthing playin in the background, i always have neebs gaming in the background
@@sykoteddy i agree, i usually play also the videos of Dr.DisRespect on my background as well, you can try his videos, amazing and interactive gamer
Greg Salazar would be proud, WTG Jay 🤣
I think most of us are grateful that you do what you do Jay! A lot of viewers including myself don't live near micro center so this really helps!
I wouldn't rely on anything Jay did he could have shorted out hardware in that system just by turning it on before making sure everything was plugged in or seated properly infact what he did here was the actions of a very poor technician and could cost alot of money in replacement hardware
@@Athlonite69 I've been building PC's for years. Nothing he did would damage the hardware. Nice try!
Coming off of Gamer's nexus's new video, that sponsor was well timed LMAO
was about to say the same thing 🤣
OMG haha, this was gold!
LOL same here, literally. WTF!
@@UberTombLord And this is why I skip ALL sponsor spots. Many good CZcamsrs seem to just not give a fuck who they're being sponsored by as long as the check clears.
Now that is a very bad sponser!
You guys are great. You all always seem to be enjoying the work that you do and that's part of what brings me consistently back. Thank you for all the presentation of concise information that you make so easy to absorb. Take care of yourself so you can continue the good and entertaining work that you all do. You guys are more like rock stars than you might ever know.
The plastic. Somehow I knew it before Jay discovered it.🤣
Interesting to learn it actually has a spreading function!
@@francoisleveille409 True, but I hate dealing with thermal paste mess, so I use Thermal Grizzly KryoSheets on all of my builds.
No you didn’t why lie
Me too! When he first removed the cooler and didn't look at the cooler plate, I was thinking "check for the plastic, Jay!" 🤣
Yeah me too 😂 it was just so obvious
Loved the video. Love that exact MC branch. Good bunch. Good laugh. Happy days. Cheers J.
Great content Jay... Learning from ones mistakes is the most efficient way. And the attention to detail and focus is a must have.
You are very good at working on PC`s Jay. I really enjoy watching your channel and learning from you.
I really loved this , I’ve been a fan for a longtime and I feel like this content would be super helpful for any knowledge level
This was a really fun and interesting video - please do more of these!
More of this, please!
You are so lucky to have a Microcenter near you. Closet one to us is mre than a 2 hour drive to a different state. The on that is in NJ is 50% further than the one in PA is from us.
Was on Vacay in SoCal couple weeks ago and took a trip to the tuston Microcenter, i wish SO bad they'd do this overhaul to the one in my state, its so nice.
Jay, you are the best. Wish you good health and great projects
I love micro-center even though I have to drive 2 hours there. They got everything you could need. Can’t wait to go back and get some upgrades for my rig
This is a fun series that microcenter needs to do with creators!!
I actually didn't know about the fan pulling through a heatsink pulling air from the sides thing, I always knew it was less efficient but I never knew the reason.
This is so cool! I love your troubleshooting videos, and this one takes the cake.
I wish we had 'tech bars' like that over here in the Netherlands. Simply because I no longer have the strength to do a lot of that. Having said that I would also struggle to get a PC into a store with a Tech Bar... so scratch that.
I really wish there was a Micro Center close to where I live. That Hyte PC case looks really sweet, on another note.
This is a really good video concept, hope you do more of these videos. Love my local Micro Cemter.
love the microcenter ads. a good place. they look like salesman. but know their stuff. and you edit in the fun shots with jay. thx phil. :)
This was a fun video to watch! TY!
I stand by it that PC Building simulator is a fantastic way to learn the basics of pc troubleshooting without risking yours or someone else's computer.
I just have to say, The HYTE Y70 (your ad lol) is probably my second favorite PC case behind the Corsair 4000D Airflow. I just love how they went a different direction with the case and did their own thing. The power button location is my favorite aspect of that case. Anyhow back to the video lol.
Watching you troubleshoot these in this manner was far more educational than I had thought it would be. Like a checklist of things to check in an ALREADY ASSEMBLED PC, which is quite a bit different from the BUILDING IT approach we’re used to.
Things that should have been checked long before turning that PC on for the first time by doing what he did with that first PC he could have caused shorts and killed the ram or anything else that wasn't seated properly also not making sure that the power plugs on the PSU weren't plugged into their respective sockets could also have caused damage
I build PC's and have worked IT for a major company. I had a build about 15 years ago when I was still new that I just could get to run stable. I didn't have parts to swap. I brought it in to the tech bar and they got the PC running. Turned out one of the RAM sticks was bad and the CPU was defective. They swapped the parts and charged me their minimum fee since the could handle the defective return. That experience turned me into a life time Microcenter fan even though I live an hour away.
More of these types of vids. I like the topic of diagnostics. Its both entertaining and educational.
I enjoyed this, thank you Jay.
Nice catch on the plastic. , a friend of mine had left one of the old paper covers on his cooler.. always had thermal issues with the computer, and gave it away... made a reliable secondary computer...
Thank you Jay, I find you're videos very interesting and helpful especially that I am a rookie pc builder and learning all the ends and outs of this industry.
This is good because it helps us know how to troubleshoot in real time. Nice job sir. And don’t feel bad it happens to the best of us. I’ve left off the backplate because I was so excited to get it up and running 😂
I love the Tech Bar at Microcenter, because they have the tools I don't have at home. I bought a cheap little Asus Laptop and immediately bought a M.2 for it for storage, and took both of them over to the Tech Bar and they just popped open the laptop and installed the M.2 drive for me. At the time, I didn't have a knockoff iFixit kit at home to use to pop open the laptop. Now I do.
Electronics tech since 1970; with that said I use to fix Heathkits for people who built them.
Built a couple dozen myself. You learn by experience to look for almost invisible signs of the history of what what was put in front of you to work on. I have done more than a few dozen computer build fault findings..... IF you want to be good at this you need to engage yourself in as many of these kinds of builds as you can find.
You would think Geek Squad would tur5n out some SuperStars in this field....
Nope it is those of us who love the hardware enough to dig deep into it enough to have an understanding of what is going on...
Love your videos Jay...
Take Care........
Thanks for your work !! as always :-) greetings from germany
Great video to show potential mistakes. Thanks Jay!
And boy didn't he make some doozies like turning on that first PC before even checking to make sure everything was seated or plugged in properly that's a rookie mistake and he should never have done it
Loved this video. Thank you
I really enjoyed watching this video. Very fun Jay.
I have bad anxiety and shit. I am so glad you are doing what you do. I get this endorphin feeling when I see specific CZcamsrs post a new "GOOD" video.
I recently got into Gregg Salazar's Fix or Flop series on here and now i want to see him and Jay compete head to head diagnosing and repairing several systems like this.
This is the best type of videos on My opinion. Thank`s for diversified interesting ideas of videos on Your channel!
Awesome Video please more of that stuff.🤙👍
Gratz on breaking 4m subs team!!
BeQuiet PSUs don't cut power to the system when you turn off the switch at the back. You can't turn on the computer, but it still feeds it power, including powering some USBs, etc. Only way to cut the power is to pull the plug
Jay, I just wanted to tell you that if you're having fun, we're having fun. Thanks for being a joy and letting us live vicariously through your adventures!
reminds me of my first computer class for Computer Operations Certification, we had a printing assignment and printer was not hooked up, had to retrace the cables.
Phil pulling his knife with this nice half-life audio - Phil you are the best
I thought of un-seated RAM 1st as soon as it didn't post. Such a classic one.
That was a nice one. A few very dirty things like the plastic on an old cpu. Or the cmos battery that was hidden. Or the LED that was plugged into itself and then taped together. But you found all of them.
Very good skills and the way you did it also made a lot of sense. Personally i would not agree with let the CPU cooler run without a fan just with passive cooling from the case fans but i also don't know the timeline. A few minutes are properly ok but i would not let it run for hours like this.
Great video Jay thanks
Things I like about Micro Center is you can see and buy in person. Things I don't like is the nearest store is over 100 miles away from me, they don't have the parts I want either in stock or don't carry, their website is hard to navigate to find the parts and They don't have Shipping on all. (example: Ram I want G-Skill ram and I click DDR5 ram and they say 1 or 2 when building my list).
You didn't turn it off then on again. Mission failed, we'll get 'em next time.
I can't stop watching your videos
We need more!
This would be a nice little program that Micro Center can do to teach people how to build PCs and how to troubleshoot it.
Wish I got to build one for them and have Jay take a look at it so I would know my mistake!
When I go to the Charlotte soft opening, I'm hoping that a man of your stature might be there. I know there will be some tech tubers there but really hoping you're there.
Well done jay
Wish Micro Centre were in the UK as well.
GG! That was fun to watch!
That was great, thanks.
On system 1 I wouldn’t have caught the GPU fans not spinning due to being unplugged. Then when the temperature shot up it would have confused the living daylights out of my the card was so hot.
The rest I would have got, I think, it just would have taken longer.
Very educational video on fault finding. Thank you.😀
Nice timing with the Hyte case ad. Did you see the video from Steve about the copy?
Good job Jay
I wish there was something like Microcenter in France, I'd go out more often.
Just Rolled In is a great channel. Quick videos and right to the point on the situations. aas
My first hand-me-down gaming PC only had 4 GB of RAM and then my buddy gave me a single 8 GB stick. So of course I was only running three sticks of RAM and they were a total of 12 gigs. But it improved a lot. Mismatch ram works sometimes
"Alright gimme a damn knife!" Me after about five minutes of dealing with my own cable management 🤣
Cuts all cable there we go cable management just kidding.
Cables are the worst part of building PCs.
Hey Jay, I liked this video! Good stuff!
Always remember at uni a guy stripping out a PC that had been sabotaged by the lecturer, he had it in bits and never thought of checking the kettle lead, the fuse had been pulled from the plug 😂😂
customer states the computer self destruct on boot up🤣🤣
this is... kind of marketing genius NGL. It shows how knowledgeable the MicroCenter guys and gals actually are. If they could think of sabtoging like that then they certainly would know to look for all that stuff and then some when someone has a problem.
I certainly would not have anywhere near the that level of confidence in somewhere like Best Buy for example.... in fact, i cant think of any big box stores i'd actually trust. maybe a Mom N Pop shop perhaps, or The Greatest Technician Who Ever Lived.
Please Microcenter come to Phoenix AZ!
Watched this video and realized my ram sticks needed to be swapped for optimal performance. Still learning things after being out the PC building world for 15 years.
I really like these kind of videos keep doing them and try to fix :)
Tjat was cool🎉 i like. Thank you for this kind of content 👍🏻😎
You solved most problems pretty fast not bad it all.
Brilliant.
Love these kinda vids Jay there fun to watch and educational
The only thing he's teaching here is how to damage hardware. He should never have turned on that 1st PC without first checking that everything was either plugged in correctly or seat properly by doing what he did he could have caused more damage than he fixed he was just lucky that nothing died
@Athlonite69 who cares it was fun to watch... nobody is perfect! I bet you have never made a mistake
@Athlonite69 been awfully quiet now for someone who had alot to say previously 😂
Very appreciated..
Someone I knew had that second problem before
I immediately suspected the plastic shield on the CPU cooler, because the CPU didn't have paste on it, and the AIO looked new. To be honest, I too made that mistake, especially if I'm alone, and someone comes into the shop and then go back to build further. Jup the same. So you are not alone, Jay.
I live in Florida I wish we had microcenters, but the best we can get is Best Buy😂
My cooler fan is pulling (my case is special), it works fine. You said because air can flea out the sides but when pushing the problem is exactly the same.
these are fun videos, man I wish I had a micro center near me
Microcenter! Come to Northern CA soon!!!!!
Hi Jay. Here's how I would get you. I'd remove the AIO and install a 'be quiet, pure loop' AIO. Before I placed it in the case, I would open the fill port and drain about half of the coolant.
in the part where you figured out there´s no paste, i literally said out loud: CHECK THE BOTTOM OF THE PUMP !!! :D
The only thing missing from the perfection of this video was the Happy Tree friends jingle at the end 😝👍
Haaaaa the plastic sheat, it happen ones to me, while building a hard tube line.... Hopefully my brain have think about it before the filling ^^
Just Rolled In ftw :P
Very informative video btw :D - Who knew PC troubleshooting could be...a game :D
I loved this video, 2cents to the rescue !
I was hoping they’d done something difficult! I’m a tech as well and back in the AMD Barton & Opteron days we used to “pencil mod” resistors for less v-droop, run wire strands across cpu pins to trick the cpu to unlock inactive cores, and lots of fun tricks! You should have corrupted the bios or flashed a different brand bios on the mobo or GPU! Lol
Jay boss as soon as you turn off psu just hit power button to kill remain electricity rest in system before removing or adding anything on it. ❤️
Wow, Tustin is my local microcenter also. 998 mile drive, but it is closer than denver.
I'd like to see cool in-house brands from Microcenter, Inland stuff.
