      Fun fact: iirc, the reason why that is is because for the e-Reader releases of NES games, Nintendo removed a bunch of rows of pixels so the game would fill the GBA's screen, cuz it wasn't 4:3 like TVs were at the time. For the e-Reader versions, every game removed the same exact rows of pixels, whereas with the Classic NES Series rereleases for GBA that came later, Nintendo put more care into it and the exact rows they removed depended on what made each particular game not look weird.

    I kinda miss the partnership Nintendo had with Hudson Soft. It led to some wacky versions of classic games, such as the _true_ "Lost Levels" of _Super Mario Bros…_ which remained _genuinely_ lost (to some people) due to a corrupt data bug in World 4-4. Oops!
    Had no idea _Ice Climber_ was a Vs. System game before anything, though. That's cool~

      What do you mean by True Lost Levels? SMB Special?

    • @JoLiKMC
      @JoLiKMC Před 3 lety +5

      Yes, indeed. _Super Mario Bros. Special_ had completely original levels and even some unique mechanics and enemies. It was like _Super Mario Bros. 2_ but jankier, yet more creative~

      @Jeansowaty Před 3 lety +2

      @@JoLiKMC I personally like SMB2j's new settings a lot, SMB Special was kinda basically a remix of normal SMB1, but the levels are indeed really cool :D

    Fun Fact Again: Nana is a word of Arabic origin, in addition, this word is Japanese and Chechen, in Japanese it is the name of a girl, and in Chechen it is not only an ordinary name, it also means "MOM", so in Chechen NANA is both a name and MEANS like MOM, that is, "NANA"

    what’s the difference between the Arcade and the NES version? Also, Hudson Soft did a good job on the Sharp X1 version, despite being poor, especially compared to the NES version.

    • @ThinBear4
      @ThinBear4 Před rokem +1

      From the footage, as well as the research on the internet, the differences in the arcade version compared to NES are following:
      - Title screen is animated and has no music
      - Mountain select at the start (1st set has 24 mountains available)
      - Various additional sound effects not present in the NES
      - The music loops during the level and the bonus stage are significantly longer
      - Jingle at the post-level score tally screen
      - Ice bee mob (note: this is apparently not present in the Nintendo Switch "Arcade Archives" series re-edition for some reason)
      - Some stages feature cloud platforms moving diagonally (console versions only have cloud platforms moving horizontally)
      - Some stages feature wind hazard
      - After clearing 8 mountains, a super bonus stage occurs. This is basically a stage where the entire level is a bonus stage. Only jumping across platforms, no moving cloud platforms, no veggie pickups (not 100% sure about the latter two).
      - After the super bonus stage, levels in the mountain select change to the 2nd set of 24 mountains.
      - In the 2nd set of 24 mountains, condor at the end of the bonus stage is replaced by a giant butterfly.
      @EDIT: All of the above is in comparison to the cartridge NES/Famicom versions. Having a quick glance, I believe the Famicom Disk System version is identical to the Arcade version (at least judging from the title screen, mountain select, and extra audio). Didn't notice the Ice Bee though - might be the same situation as with the Arcade Archives version on Switch.
