Storage units are where things go to die. Please please donât get one.
I totally agree! If itâs put away, out of sight, out of mind - you wonât use it. Youâre just giving your money away for things stored and wonât be used ever. I donate things I no longer want or have room for so someone else can use it.
She would store it for her future home. Itâs a family heirloom. So she wants it for when she has more than a tiny one bedroom.
@@TheCarlaProject I had a friend who got a storage unit for the same reason when she moved from Ohio to Arizona. She paid for said unit for well *over* 10 years! Guess what? She's changed apartments a few times and has NEVER had to room to ship everything from Ohio. She finally let the unit go and the storage company disposed of all of her "treasures". So much money down the drain!
â@@TheCarlaProjectstore it at a friend or family member who's got enough space. A whole storage unit often is too much (money and not needed space). đź
Thatâs exactly what I was going to say. I would suggest she finds a friend who can keep it for her. Much less chance of it getting damaged as well.
Hope She keeps and repurposes the beautiful Antique that was her Mother's and actually use it in her new home. Instead, She should let a number of the modern cheaper made bookcases, shelves, and other things go.
Yes, I agree! The green cabinet is very functional too.
That's what I was thinking.
As someone with TWO storage units, I beg you not to go that route.
I think thereâs room for the vintage green piece! If itâs important to you, donât let it rot in storage.
Please keep it!
Even if you had to, could you put it in the carport?
The vintage piece is gourgeus, please use it in kitchen with plates, glasses, a cute vase...đ€đ
Definitely looks like there should be room for it near the kitchen đ€đ»
@@tracaroonI saw that too, right inside the doorway!
She simply must bring the green hutch to the new home, it will make it look more soulful. Also the big bookcase because itâs vertical storage. Small furniture in a small place looks busy, and ineffectual. Look forward to next one!
Becky is going to be in plant heaven at her new place! The moving part is emotional and bittersweet but having a friend there to help guide you toward what you want and through the scary part is priceless. Carla, what you are doing is allowing people to move forward in their lives. No small feat. đâ€ïž
Wow, thank you for putting it that way thank you thank you beautifully said!!đ„°
@@TheCarlaProject most welcome!
Antique green thing might fit to the left of kitchen peninsula . The wall is inset a bit, too.
I was thinking the same thing!
I would do whatever possible to keep the vintage pieces...especially the family pieces. Smaller bed...bar stool at counter for eating...not a full size couch, etc. Along with the memories they cannot be replaced. I don't know what all she has to move but I saw a couple of options in the entryway/kitchen. From SE Kansas đ»
her new place is absolutely magical! such a big opportunity for a fresh start, can't wait to see it all come together
You can totally fit the green cabinet, repurpose if needed. Beautiful new place and great light for plants! Congratulations đ
I just spent the whole weekend helping a friend move her elderly parents out because they are going into assisted living. When I tell you that I havenât seen that much stuff in a while, itâs no exaggeration. The family was having decision fatigue. They ended up renting a storage unit and putting most stuff in there. UghâŠ. I Would have thrown 85% of the things out!! I have never been more motivated to de-clutter my place now!!!
My husbandâs family did the exact same thing! They moved Arizona furniture (southwest decor) to Chicago and put in storage unit for four years! No one in the family wanted most of it so eventually had to pay someone to take it all! What a waste of money!
@@berniea.3255 storage units are a total waste of $!
What a beautiful setting she's moving into !!
Isnât it charming and gorgeous!
Please don't get a storage unit. Keep your money.
She doesn't have a lot of things but, a storage unit is a waste.
I'm surprised Becky was able to get through her lunch, she was saying "throw it away" so often đ Well done, Becky!
Since you love the vintage green piece, you could repurpose it to be your chest of drawers. Please don't store it.
And put keepsakes and candles on the shelves.
I kept an antique buffet that was close to my heart and put it in the bedroom and sold the dresser.
I agree!!đ
It could also make a beautiful storage display for your bags and purses.
I agree! Dont let it go! These are great ideas! đ
What an exciting move, trading one spectacular view for another! Becky will have her own private forest outside her bedroom door, how cool is that!? A plant lover's paradise.
Two things: This is THE most California of move-ins with the cleansing ritual and Becky wearing the "Manifest" shirt!
Second, if you've watched much of Chelsea Fagan from The Financial Diet, she totally talks about her dog as if she gave birth to her, it's so funny. I love Samson...that gorgeous fluffy doggo--husky maybe? --who showed up? So beautiful!
Can't wait to see more of the new space come together!
Yes husky! She was like the all white version of Samson who is part husky!!
I had an oval stand mirror too which I never had room for so I took it off the stand turned it sideways and put it on my wall over my bed. I love it!
We all need a friend like Carla. Like many other viewers, I hope she finds a place for the green antique piece. Looking forward to next weeks video â€
PLEASE donât get rid of the green cabinet. Itâs beautiful and I genuinely think it deserves a space in every home you move to.
It's beautiful especially the original color Green..Keep it vintage style..â€
Rain with new beginnings is a show that the new chapter will be blessed, so that is another good sign
I absolutely love watching you help your family and friends. You have the best relationships đ
The photo of her parents has been tinted, which was common before color film.
That is so great to have your own place. Even though it's smaller it looks quieter and the back yard looks peaceful. Sometimes something comes along that forces you to reconsider things and in the end you're better off.
The green antique piece can go right there at the front door; to the other side of the window.
All types of things can be stored in this unit. đ§đ€
Storage units you'll be kicking yourself for wasting the money. Think of the money you can save. You could save right in your pocket to buy whatever you want.
She did so well!!! Canât wait to see more. I did not want it to end!
New beginnings are so exciting (sometimes with a serving of terror on the side đ±)
I'm excited for your friend and this new stage of life. You're a wonderful friend to help her with this transition.
I'm looking forward to seeing her new home when she's fully moved in.
I like your channel so much!â€
Thank you so much!!â€
II just moved this week after being in a place for 6 years.. It is exhausting. I declutterred some things before the move and now that I am in the new place I will slowly go through and declutter more. I realize as I am getting older I just donât want all the stuff. I am adopting the motto life is about experiences not about material things. I love Beckyâs new place. So much character!
Hi, we moved 22 years ago from a house to a 2BR condo. We lost an attic and basement. Declutter and don't get a storage unit. Take the green hutch and tall
bookcase. Tina, Al's wife
We all were missing you, Samson. Wellcome!
You two have such a fun vibe when you're together. I was actually shocked by Becky's decluttering powers. Wow... I didn't expect that she would have so much courage. It's so liberating. Great job and all the best in your new home! And a huge hug for Samson đ
Bring the green bookcase/sideboard. It's not that big and is very nice storage for books, mementos, linens, etc.
The green unit can be a beautiful pantry for the kitchen since storage is so limited in that small area.
Hey, I thought I had the original Mona Lisa, she hangs in my bathroom đ Good start on the declutter, canât wait for the next video. â€
Thatâs where it is! đ
Im moving across the country and needed this video tonifht to get the motivation to declutter all the crap i dont need
Perfect timing!
The more plants the more positive energy!
Way to go, Becky, you will be so much happier in your own place, don't let unnecessary clutter get in the way of your future happiness.
Her new place is to die for! The garden is so amazing đđ»â€ïžđ«¶đŒ! Canât wait for the next video! Love the green vintage piece, please work it in to your home!
Canât wait to see the progress of moving. Please show us the next level of decluttering and take us to the journey of arriving in the new home and decorating all her personal stuff. Please push her to bring the green cabinet in and maybe let go something else.
Hi Carla, it looks like she could place that vintage green piece of her moms as you walk into the front door close to the counter. I hope she does not get rid of it. My mom has been dead for 20 years and Becky will want to see something of her moms in the future.
I would keep the green cabinet and the book case and not take any of the wood boxes or small cabinets. What ever fits in them is what gets to stay for treasures and craft materials. Good luck with the move. â€
Fantastic decluttering Becky! I hope youâll be able to take the patio set for your new backyard oasis. Looking forward to seeing the process and the finale when Carla helps to organize. Itâs going to be awesome! And take the green piece and maybe repurpose it for the bedroom. đâșïžđĄ
Omg! Tell her not to get rid of any of her plants.. they all are so amazing. đđđ
Could you take the mirror off the stand and mount it on a wall or door? Could any of the plants live outside?
Congratulations đđ Becky I love the new place. The look on Samsons face when he realized that you were with another dog đ was precious.
KEEP THE GREEN PIECE!!! love love loveeee the new place, that garden and the apartment, just aahhhh
âWeâre professionals. Weâve got a wagon!â Lovinâ it!
No storage unit ever unless itâs ONLY 30 days otherwise you are paying for your crap over and over and over again
I hope she finds a spot for the green cabinet!
It looks like the green hutch can fit on the wall by the island. And for sure make a way to keep the large bookcase.
If Becky doesn't have room in her new place for the sentimental bookcase, it would be perfect in your bedroom on the right when you walk in. This would be perfect for placing items that are usually put on the floor in your room.
It's crazy how when we live in a big home everything just keeps fitting in it until the move to a smaller home and we don't even realize how much extra stuff we had that was of no use or forgotten until the declutter/move and when we let go those things our mind and home feels so much free and lighter
Me and my family had to move to a smaller home 3 years back and when we saw the amount of unused/forgotten/old stuff our minds blew and we were just so much happy to let go of all those things and if we had decided to keep those we needed atleast 2 big rooms just to store them
Hats off to you for letting of the things and clearing your mind and home for so much good things to come your way
The cleansing of the home made me tear up a little! Your friendship seems so special.
I have lived in this five bedroom house for 45 years. Decluttering to move will be a chore eventually. That guest house is adorable!
Sounds like it would be a good idea to start now and do it gradually rather than having to do it all in panic mode.
I hope she keeps the hutch!
I love Becky's energy! She's full of light. And you helping her declutter and move will only bring more of that light forward. I'm looking forward to the rest of this declutter and how she sets up her new home. And I agree with everyone - keep the green vintage piece!
Love the new place! Congratulations! Please keep your momâs green piece of furniture. You need height in some pieces. Also , the bookcase just decluttered could replace your dresser. Use bins for clothes and add books and memorabilia. Smaller bed , try to downsize fast furniture bins. Your plant collection is gorgeous and nice art to fill your walls. Make a mood board online and stay true to your dream. The backyard is magical! This is such an exciting time in your life. Purge, purge , purge.
That backyard space is one of the best I have seen. Incredible.
Another huge challenge for you and one of your bestiesâŠit can make or break a friendship. You have the knack of bringing the best in people and Iâm impressed with how much has been declutterred already. Canât wait to see the next ep. â€â€â€
Girl, you are moving into heaven. You don't need to take anything with you but your good memories. â€
Yah!! Congratulations on the new place đđ! Moving is so stressful Iâm so happy to be along for the journey. New place is beautiful!! Canât wait for part 2. Love the plants đȘŽ đ„°.
Beautiful new apartment. I couldn't give up an antique buffet I'd had for 40 years even though my new house had no dining room. So I put it in the bedroom and sold the dresser instead. She should put the cabinet in her bedroom and put clothes and shoes in it. Repurpose. Always keep your favorite things.
So true!
Iâve moved 6 times in 12 years. Before that, made two cross country moves. It isnât difficult once you realize you have too much stuff that you donât need to be happy. Declutter before each move including plants that arenât living up to their full potential.đ Moving is like a cleansing. So exciting. You are both doing a great job!
12 times in 3 yrs...all cross country moves I might add
Love the green cabinet!
I wouldnât get rid of or store that beautiful green cabinet. That would be a piece to make sure you had room for!
I hope she brings the green piece of furniture and Frida Kalo!!! and all her kitchen stuff!!
Just moved my mother from a 1 bedroom to a studio apartment (with separate room for kitchen) this past week before she retires.
HUGH amounts of work but it turned out well and she's happy with a view of the water
That sounds like a great outcome. âșïž
@@janohare916 Thank you =)
That is awesome!! And water views đ
Carla, I am still loving bangs. I love Becky so am tickled she was able to find it. That backyard is so worth giving up stuff. I laughed so hard at the whole plant conversation in the elevator đđđ. I can't have pretty plants like that either đđđ. Can't wait for part 2.
This is inspiring.. I am maximalist..Last week I went somewhere.. Oh my goodness every single flight ticket pamphlet I take..
Two years ago we moved from a large 5 bed with a double garage to a very small one bed cottage - best thing we ever did, and we got rid of sooo many belongings in the process
Hello, ask if she could have a little shed in the garden, that might help. i live in a tiny ex hotel unit, 2 windows and one entry/exit door. my suggestions, use suitcases as storage, when on holidays those items can sit on the bed and use suitcase. go up, use tall storage items. i am short and still do that (5ft) and have a little ladder. my bed is one that lifts up the mattress and store items underneath. it is amazing how much you can store under there. have boundaries once set up, such as this box is only for candles once the candles escape the box, you have to declutter some. i love buying things 2nd hand and i find boundaries is the best method especially for books! i think she could use the green item (Mums thing) for so many ideas, maybe a kitchen/pantry/office storage, or shove in the wardrobe as use for clothes. think outside the square. all the very best đ
The new place is just adorable... love love love itâ€. Those high ceilings *chefs kiss*.
I'm excited for you! the new place is so cute. No storage unit please!!! But try to find a way to use the green cabinet. It's a keeper. Maybe in the bathroom or bedroom even.
Congratulations Becky! This is a great new beginning for you. Itâs so rewarding to declutter and start fresh.
Sending love from beautiful sunny Poland from a British girl on holiday chilling and watching my lovely Carla
Enjoy holiday!!!đ
The new home will be awesome. Perfectly curated for her.
Wow the backyard is amazing!!!
The new place is gorgeous! I wish her the very best.
Great video! So satisfying. Last time we moved was 10 years ago and we moved from TN to GA. My husband's company at the time paid for the move, but even with that help, it was still so much work! You truly don't know how much you have until you have to move! â€
Yes, that is so true! You donât know how much you have until you have to move!!
Moving house was what got me going on my minimalist journey way back in 2014!
I hope she can find a way to keep the green cabinet. It will be a great piece for storage. Iâm probably the only one who loved the hummingbird pic! Lol
I loved the hummingbird pic, too!
What she did is so brave
đ That green furniture piece in the beginning that was her mom's could easily be in her new bedroom for storage. I personally would have it as a night stand, honestly. Who says you have to have a tiny @ss table for a night stand lol?!
She is on a roll, she did a wonderful job decluttering!!! I hope her new home is filled with so much joy and peace, in Jesus name.â€đ
I just realized that I cleanse old energy with bleach and rum lol. Hey it's working so far. The new place looks great, especially that backyard! I just hope she doesn't end up getting rid of anything she'll regret just because there's no space, like her mother's cabinet.
I moved in 2010 ish and I'm terrified when I have to move againđ„Ž
Dang, she did GREAT â€
I wonder if she could make the front room an office/dining area and her bedroom more of a living room w/ a fancy daybed that turns from twin to king. She did say she was probably getting a new bed... I think she'd be able to keep more of her wants. đ
Would the green furniture not fit in the bedroom on the other side of the door? I think the furniture can be worked into the new space, especially as it is a loved piece.
I hope she keeps the green cabinet, you girls did good đ
I'm so happy for her! The new place has great vibes and it is beautiful! đ
I was introduced to your channel from Evelyn From The Internets (she mentioned you in a recent bathroom declutter she did) and I've been OBSESSED ever since! I binge watched your sister decluttering series and watched too many videos now to count. You have a wonderful energy and you have a new loyal subscriber!!!
Oh thank you!! Iâll have to reach out to Evelyn! So cool you found me through her đ
I love her new place. I have been living in the same rental for thirteen going on fourteen years. I plan to move at the end of the year so I have been ruthlessly getting rid of things to make the transition easier.
Can't wait for part 2. Keep the green hutch and repurpose it in the new place.
Definitely keep the green hutch
I would use it in the kitchen to store dishes and special items :) could also put some plants on it â€
Love your channel Carla
First, What a great place!! She def scored!! And still in Santa Barbara wow! I think the green hutch can go in the kitchen.. So glad she's not getting the Storage Unit...I think paying for storage unit is such a waste of money - as it's a place used to avoid decision making...unless you know you will be moving into a larger space in the NEAR future & the storage space is simply to hold those things you will be putting in the larger space!
Your friends are SO lucky to have a beautiful person like you in their lives. You're my kind of person. I think we'd have a blast together! You're doing amazing work helping people sort out their lives. -Lety from Chicago
Wow, thank you Lety đ
