I’m sure that she’s feeling so much better now. I’m watching this from a waiting area in Paris getting ready to go back home after 3 weeks in the UK & France. I have already realized that I simply have too many things & this trip has proven that. If I can live out of a small suitcase for 3 weeks then I can do that at home!

Also just wanna suggest that she should label everything ASAP! It's surprisingly easy to forget what's in bins. You both did an amazing job though, I can't believe this took 1 day. This would take me weeks.
Last thing! Thank you so much for showing the actual REMOVAL process!! This is somehow the hardest part for me. I declutter and then leave a pile of junk in the corner for weeks/months sometimes, ugh.
it's the hardest part for all of us!! Taking it all the way out of the house and off to to the donation center 😅 and yes the labeling needs to happen asap!! Good luck with the move!!
If it's not too late to add this comment, it would also be a good idea to label which room the items are going. We moved 23 years ago without labeling the rooms: many items needed to be downstairs. 😕 Too much unneeded work.
I agree about leaving in a corner what you want to get rid of! I live over 45 minutes either way to drive to where I can drop off things.

You are so right about changing the energy. I had two big boxes in my bedroom (for a couple of months), that needed to be placed in a room that I was dreading reorganizing. Once I finally removed those boxes, the energy in my room completely changed. It feels so peaceful and calming now:) Kudos to your bestie for making progress...Great job👍🎈

Hi Carla! What a good friend you are to help sort out her closet - it was like watching a professional organizer! And how sweet of your friend to be willing to be so vulnerable. It was interesting that she said she felt like she could’ve gotten rid of more. I think that’s the feeling most of us get as we declutter - the more we get rid of, the easier it is to let go of more. And, as always, Sampson did a fantastic job of supervising! ❤️🌷

Great job! I've definitely said, "oh, but I just wore this, I should keep it" to a maybe item before, and then donated it like 2 weeks later. Ruthlessness is hard, but feels so freeing!
What a dear friend you are to help her. Sometimes, just having a nonjudgemental friend to encourage you, be the voice of reason, & help you see if the object has value or not can be extreamly motivating & helpful. I bet your friend feels a huge weight lifted off her. I'm glad you also showed the things she got rid of being taken out of her home. Maybe in 6 months you can revisit her & go through her closet again. It may be easier for her & maybe she will get rid of even more. Great video!

One thing that really helps me when I declutter is thinking about my age. Time flies the older we get. Do I make time to enjoy those things at this age? Idk if that makes sense, but I find that it helps me.
Also, I struggle with decluttering jeans. They are always too small and I keep hoping to fit into them.

someone gave me a great tip when decluttering my closet and they said this does this item of clothing bring you joy.. it really worked I kept stuff that i LOVED and got rid of stuff that I just didnt really like.. you guys did a great job well done!

This was such a great video. It almost made me emotional what an impact a great friend can make. I'm sure Becky felt heaps lighter mentally and there has come off a big weight of her shoulders by decluttering her closet. You ladies are amazing! Im quite a minimalist myself because of limited space and I love clean and decluttered spaces, so I help my friends organizing. I love helping them and seeing them feel alot better afterwards ❤️❤️

That was exactly me before. I started decluttering april 2020 and i barely threw anything out. I revisited areas every 3-6 months and knew “ok i clearly dont need and use these so goodbye” and it kept getting easier and easier. Now i get rid of stuff just as it clicks into my mind that i know i still own it and i get rid of it so fast. My stuff were 80% declutter and 20% garbage and recycle, plus i always had a second home for my stuff to go to. Lots of my coworkers took stuff and some few family members
When decluttering clothes, I have found it really helpful to pick your favorites, and make outfits down to the accessories. If you have things you love, that don't really go with anything you own, it's ok to buy something to pull an outfit together, but it needs to also go with other things you already have. The area to be really ruthless is unflattering cuts and colors. Even if you do wear it often, sometimes you need an honest friend's, "Girl. No!" It's also easier to let go of something you like but that doesn't flatter you if you can figure out what it is that you like about it. Then you can figure out a way to enjoy whatever that is; make wiser purchases in fabric or silhouettes you love, or find sentimental momentos that might be easier to store to remind you of the same experience that sentimental clothes might hold for you.
Impressive. Wow, kudos to Becky for really streamlining her wardrobe and closet. And to Carla for organizing solutions that really work for her needs. Going from overflowing to stuffed to it-all-fits is no mean feat. How many times have I complained about a lack of space when it really was about what and how much I could reasonably keep in it? Still working on that. I love the feeling that comes with seeing items go off to other homes, and folks who need and will love them. It's a win/win. Thanks to you both for this; I'm inspired!
This was terrific!! Not only a MASSIVE PURGE but amazing organization. I love the interaction between you two and your friend’s energy!! What a gift for your both. I love how you set the stage and went through methodically and then figured out the organization. That was probably the most impressive and most helpful to me. Although I have minimized my wardrobe and most of my home (that is one of my goals and also how I grew up) I am inspired to do more and to elevate my organization.
I was cracking up when I saw all of the hats, mitts, etc for cold weather. I live in Toronto, 🇨🇦 and have about a quarter of what she has!!! I think this was also a great example of decluttering without going minimal! Yaaay! Hope you can do more of these or maybe another one with this friend!!!

I was born in Santa Barbara in Cottage Hospital. Lived down there full time until I was 7 and my parents divorced then it was only during the summers. I miss it down there so much. You both are appreciated so much 💓

Wonderful job! Whenever I helped a friend or family member I’d load up the donate and we’d go for a nice lunch part way through to get one round of donations out of the way and then come back refreshed and refocused

So. Much. Stuff. It's so clear when it's not your own. Or when it's not the type of thing you have too much of. Like those tee shirts or the hoodies - I would have tossed all but about five. Or more. But now books or kitchen gadgets... That would be different LOL. That's probably why having someone help - a fresh pair of realistic eyes - is so beneficial.
This was spiritually, mentally, and emotionally cleansing to my soul. It was so nice to watch. I didn’t even think I would watch so much of this video. This was truly a healing experience for me. Wishing you such a happy future. So proud of you because it is a difficult process. 🎉🎉🤩

I over decluttered and actually regretted a couple my decluttered items....
helpful tip for her hanging clothes...once she's worn and washed...turn the hanger to face the other way ..then in 6-12 months...clothes that are still left hanging the old way...can get put in a charity bag...

Good Job Ladies. Decluttering is a process, it's never a one and done. Ask me how I know. I watch videos like this to grasp ideas as well as to me evaluate my thinking on stuff. My main motivation is to decrease the time it takes to clean. My goal is 30 minutes per room.

I've always liked trying to help others with their space. I love cleaning and organizing and have since I was very young. I also love the idea of not wanting to change how she lives (i.e. no intention of trying to turn her into a minimalist) because I think sometimes it can be hard to see somebody living so differently than you and not trying to turn their place into your ideal version, but theirs. That's really neat. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
The one suggestion I would make is waiting to buy the organizational bins until after the decluttering process so you don't buy things you don't need 🙂
Thanks agree so important to let people have the right space for them! Re the organizers… The thing is this is a one day project and we only have that one day to do the organizing so we need to come prepared. Anything we don’t use can easily be returned. It’s honestly the best way I’ve found :)

I once had to declutter my home, then I came with a way to jeep it clean. Every 3 or so months I go round and pick 1 out of ten items on Some places (drawers, closet, etc). Its easier and you feel ok.

I decluttered my clothes in one day also. I retired and decided after a year that all the work attire had to go. My three sisters came and spent an afternoon and I went from 13 leather jackets 40 pairs of slacks suits dresses and 50 pairs of shoes to, five pairs of jeans 4 leggings, 3 pairs of slacks and five dresses and about a dozen tops and two leather jackets! I don’t miss a thing… except I forgot to save myself a pair of long leather winter boots. My sisters left town with easily 15,000 worth of clothes. As a principal I had tons of clothes, as a retired person I was so glad to be rid of my former lifestyle. Now I can wear sloppy t shirts and whatever my heart desires
My closets are fine but you inspired me today to get my house chores all done and even finish a crafting project! Hey, motivation is motivation! It’s all gotta get done. Thanks ladies!
Great transformation! Decluttering certainly involves lots of little decisions. Becky did a fabulous job letting go. This inspired me to let go of a few more items that I've been holding onto for just in case, because I spent money on them or because it was sentimental.

Super great job, as an organizer I always stress a second clean out after a month, guarantee that more is donated. We don't need so much stuff, we wear 20% of our clothing 80% of the time.
