  • A cool, old Otis Lexan traction elevator at Bayers Road Centre, near the CGI Building (former Zellers) in West End Halifax NS. Possibly installed in 1971ish, with the malls first big renovation and expansion. This mall opened as Bayers Road Shopping Centre in 1956 as Halifax Regional Municipality’s first indoor shopping mall, then was renovated and renamed to The Village At Bayers Road in 1997, then was mostly de-malled and renamed to Bayers Road Centre in 2009. Filmed on 04/09/24.

Originally there were 2 elevators side by side here. I have no idea why they took one out.

Really? That’s weird! Thank you for that information! Did they remove it when they remodelled it into The Village At Bayers Road?

@@artselevatorsgamingbeyond6644 They actually removed it when it was still a shopping centre before The Village renovation.

@@myotismon767 Right. I’m aware that it was a great mall! I didn’t realize I was born for the Zellers until last year. Lol. I was born in 2003 and Zellers closed at the end of 2006, so I would have been 3.5 years old.
