- Camtasia reaction videos are easier to make with Camtasia Rev. All you need to do is allow Camtasia to record your camera, screen, microphone & computer audio and once it's rolling, press play on the video you want to react to!
When you're finished, Rev will walk you through all of your creative options. Can you do more editing after? Sure! Do you need to? That's up to you.
Rev can launch the Camtasia editor, create a local video file, or upload directly to CZcams for you.
If you've got a CZcams channel, you know how crucial it is to regularly have new content to share with your audience! Have you done reaction videos yet? Let us know!

I've been utilizing Camtasia for video editing needs, but I'm looking for additional features to enhance workflow. A particularly useful update would be the integration of a 'Record Screen (video) While Reading Script' function (not Voice Narration, ensure to maintain eye contact with the camera). This feature would significantly streamline process by allowing simultaneous screen recording and script reading, ensuring better synchronization and efficiency in projects. There's no need to invest in separate teleprompter tools.
Thanks for the feature request! We will pass this along to the team.
@@techsmith 🙏
Wow that looks cool...i will have to try it
Just gets better and better. You guys are tirelessly committed to enhancements outpacing your competitors. And it seems you unleash the power of everyone to create tutorials. Everyone but your newest hires for non-technical positions like admin == and , who knows, they may be next.
Camtasia is so powerfull.... and I cant yet to put images of football team shields on the faces of people moving in a video to make my jokes😄
Very nice, Camtasia. As a lover of automation and Gen AI, this might make me come back to Camtasia. Does the Rev also work in "normal" creation and have you created materials around that? Kind regards, Anders
thank you for the tips & tricks
How can I centre fix Timeline playhead all the time in camtasia. All the time running after timeline playhead is annoying.
We don't have an option for this, but we encourage you to pass that feedback along via our official feedback form. techsmith.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0fAxNg2cVlwWNbo
Now I know at last what's this new 'rev' toggle button. Thanks! I'll try Camtasia Rev on my next video 😉
Absolutely! And if you want more info on Rev, we have another video about it here: czcams.com/video/p3ZQUYHX-H4/video.htmlsi=jVkVosQe7_V7S2wb
Hi, is it possible to change the size after you switched to camtasia from Rev. To get the same Video once for CZcams in 16:9 and once in 9:16 for Insta and Co?
Not YET, no. But stay tuned for the next Upgrade announcement. We're hoping to implement that.
How to come into Camtasia Rev, if the video was recorded longer time ago?
Right now you can't, but we are working on improvements so that SOON you'll be able to launch Rev after the recording phase is done. Not sure how THIS example would work (if it would) but I'll suggest it as a use-case to the dev team!
Meanwhile, ALL of these effects exist within Camtasia 2023, so you can definitely get your videos to this state, it just requires a little more effort without Rev.
@@techsmith Thanks, this would make it a lot easier.
If I screen record a region of the screen instead of full screen (heard it uses less data) and then use that recorded file inside Camtasia studio but the project and file scaled to 1920x1080, will it still use less data this way or would it be the same exact data size if I just screen recorded full screen and then project settings 1920x1080?
Yeah, the scale of your recording (and duration) will play a factor in file size, but if you're going to scale it UP to meet that size in the end anyway, you're going to end up with a much lesser quality product. It wouldn't be the same file size, because the recorded footage will play a larger role in storage consumption than the project size, but again, it's going to look worse if you are scaling up over 100% in the end.
@@techsmith Ok thank you for that info. Just to understand correctly, recording just a region of the screen produces a smaller file size (recorded file), and the video quality would get worse if I scaled that region recorded file into 1920x1080? Im gonna have to do some tests to fully understand these methods.
@@SpacedOutDoonie Testing is your best bet, I can't say for sure how negligable the file size differences would be. And scaling the pixels UP (assuming you record smaller than 1920x1080) isn't a good idea.
This is only possible if you record with your webcam? I love Camtasia and do reaction videos but I record seperately on my iphone and then the editing becomes really challenging....
I'm curious if anyone else does reaction vidoes without recording on webcam
(Andy here) I've used my iPhone as a Continuity Camera (wirelessly) through Camtasia with great success! If you do vertically however, continuity camera will try to flip, so that doesn't work.
I want to know HOW@@techsmith I only do horizontal and use my iphone....how do you use Rev..I mean what is ''my iPhone as a Continuity Camera (wirelessly) through Camtasia'' I really want to know...
@@RachelSmets Getting that set up is a Mac support issue, but try starting here: support.apple.com/en-us/102546
Oh no...@@techsmith I don't use Mac but Windows, so it's not possible for me?
@@RachelSmets Continuity camera won't, however internally we have some people who like using the Camo app in that situation. Download the Camo app on your iPhone and it should take you through that set up (I believe it's free).
So you don’t have to use green screen?
Nope! Here are some best practices to make sure Background Removal works optimally, but no need for the green screen! czcams.com/video/o-ff7xUhBxM/video.html
@@techsmith thank you I’m going to use CAM… for reaction videos on my CZcams page
Well... it's been a little quiet on the channel, could it be Camtasia 2024 is getting ready to drop? 😎 24+48 fps support = instant buy fyi~~~😉
Not really all THAT quiet. We do a new video every few weeks typically, and check our Shorts feed. We've been playing with those a lot lately.
Camtasia 2024 IS coming up this spring/summer but no date is set at the moment, and 24/48 fps is not on the list this time around.

To be honest, I am not impressed with REV, you have just made some of the attributes available before the editing. I do most of my videos in OBS, and the good thing about it is that you can control the elements (on-off) like texts.
REV is not a new improvement, it is just a rework of the 2022 version. The clue was on the filters.
It is basically 2022 with a different layout.
That's alright. Rev isn't for everyone, and that doesn't take anything away from the product which is still the same if you don't use Rev. But you'd be incorrect if you're inferring that Camtasia isn't still completely customizable (or as you say, on/off). It is. Nothing is locked in place until you export it. This will save a lot of time for newer users especially once they're in the editor, becasue even if the default template they chose isn't their favorite, they can go into the Properties panel and adjust everything.
