- Today, we install 1/4" wheel spacers up front and 3/8" in the back to get just a tiny bit more pop from the factory wheels and get them flush with the fenders. I also show how much of the factory mud flap I needed to trim while running the 1.5" leveling kit and stock 20x0 wheels with 285/65R20 BFG T/A KO2.

Terrific ! Looks awesome ! Like the way you did it , really nice video ,Tony ! saw your license plate Minnesota , really excited , Actually , I am Asia, love truck, love Vikes ! Like always ! I used to live in Chanhassen , now I live in Sweden . Again , nice truck
Yeah chanhassen isn’t too far from me! Sweden, eh? I bet that’s different haha
Thanks for your video. I have the same year Ram Laramie model and i have the stock fender flares. I wanted to put spacers like you and I didn’t want my tires to stick out of the fenders but a little more aggressive like yours. After watching your video i was happy and more confident in ordering the right spacers. I’m going with the same setup as yours .25 & .375 from Baer. Thanks!
Yeah, I found it to be a nice happy medium. You might decide you want a thicker bolt on spacer down the road since you have the flare, but this should be a good starting point. Just make sure to torque the lug nuts and check them again after a couple hundred miles. I never had any issues with mine.
Thanks for the info🤙🏼
Tha is for this series of videos. Got a 2021 Ram Night Edition and want a more aggressive look, and your minor changes make a huge difference!
I agree, thanks for watching!
Just put 35 12.5 20s on my lone star 2021.
The sound of the rub hurts my soul!!!
Workin on it. Thank you for the info! 🙏🏼
Haha I don’t blame you. Stock wheels still or did you go with an aggressive offset?
@@TonyTheTruckGuy stock wheels but I made the mistake of going with a 2 inch wheel spacer. Kinda put myself in a pickle. I just looked more into it and I’m hittin the metal piece under the plastic in the wheel well. Might have to get rid of the spacer.
But I love the look it gives it though!
@@MrSinton68 Yeah I was looking at the same options but knew I’d run into issues which is why I went this route. You should be able to run them without the spacers I think. Just keep an eye on if the inside of the tire contacts ball joint or control arm, etc.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy 10 4 man.
I appreciate it.
@@MrSinton68 You got it! Let me know how it turns out without the spacers!
awesome video, nice nice nice. thank you!
Thanks, Tony! Loving this stuff😀
Again, top notch vid Tony.
Thanks!
Bro your truck looks badass.
Thanks man!
If you had custom wheels would not need no spacer, I got custom on my 02 Tahoe with Federal MT's on bullet wheels and don't need spacers. Bout to get some customs on my 05 ram 1500 so I don't need spacers an it will pop out a little past the fenders
Yeah I liked the look of the stock wheels and didn’t want to blow a bunch of money on wheels haha but yeah you can definitely avoid spacers if you get different wheels with the right offset.
Really enjoy your videos man. Would I be able to run these tires with a 2 inch spacer level kit? Plan to add the spacers like you did.
Yeah I don’t see why not, I just had 1.5” level and the mud flaps are all I touched. 2” might let you get away with no trimming at all if you have OEM flaps.
I added the 3/8 spacers also on my RAM. I also have a slight vibration in the steering wheel, which I had before I installed the spacers. Did you figure out what was causing that? Out of balance tire? Love the videos by the way!
Thanks! And no, mine doesn’t have a steering wheel vibration, just a very slight overall truck vibration at highway speeds, which I also noticed before installing the spacers. I’m guessing they just didn’t do a great job of balancing the tires.
This is perfect!
My 4th gen after the 285/65’s and level and new upper control arms. Rubs the inner side wall a bit at full droop. So 1/4” spacers would be perfect. Any vibration issues? Or these spacers so small it doesn’t effect anything?
No vibrations or any issues yet. Also retorqued the lug nuts 2 weeks after putting the spacers on and all lug nuts were tight. This specific brand of spacer seems to be made pretty well.
Tony The Truck Guy definitely have to grab these!
Thanks fir a speedy reply 👍🏼
No problem man, good luck!
Would that work for my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 as well bro?
So love the video.I put a 2.0 lift on mine w/RC wheel spacers but spacer has too much wiggle b4 wheel goes on and causing a noticeable vibration at higher speed. I’d be curious to know if your spacers fit snugger on bolts/centered on hub vs oval like. Thanks T
Hmm. I guess I’ve never seen the RC ones so I’m not sure how loose they are. These were a pretty good fit and I can say I never had any problems with them.
Looks Great!
Thanks!
Wonder if different tire pressures would make a difference in rubbing
I wouldn’t think it would change a whole lot since the tires are reinforced by metal wire strands essentially. But subsequently, you’d also get uneven tire wear if the tires are overinflated or under inflated, so you kind of need to run them in the sweet spot, which for me was about 35 psi
Tony I have those OEM flaps coming , should be interesting without any leveling kit and the same tires your running currently on the ram. I canceled my appointment for a 2” level kit to go on i actually like the look without it and the 285/65r20’s . Those OEM mud flaps are the best looking ones I’ve found. I know they’re just mudflaps but every little detail adds up in the end.
@@bossstrick Someone else just told me the other day that they ended up getting these same tires on a 4x4 without the level and it fits. If anything, maybe some mud flap trimming and you should be ok.
How many turns on the lug nuts did you get after installing the 3/8 spacer
I didn’t count exactly how many turns I just measured about how many threads would be left as seen in the video. I never had any issues after installing the spacers with any sort of vibration or lug nuts coming loose. I checked them periodically just in case and they were always torqued to proper spec still when I checked them. I definitely wouldn’t go any thicker with spacers though unless they’re the bolt on style. I did also tow a few campers and haul my ATV in the bed several times with these spacers.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy ok thank you so much for reply. I am gonna do exactly what you did. Awesome looking truck thank you for the video
@@ryancushman1744 Thanks! No problem, glad I could help!
Did you have any issues without having a hub lip with the slip on spacers? Also, if you went to a 1/2 inch, do you think you'd have to do any metal trim? or just plastic?
No issues so long as you properly alternate and torque the lug nuts since they're conical nuts and should self-center the wheel. My main concern with 1/2" spacers is not having enough stud left for the lug nuts. Even 3/8" was pushing it in my opinion, I wouldn't want to go more just for piece of mind. That being said, I don't think you'd have to trim any metal if you have similar leveling setup and wheel/tire specs.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy Yeah, after I watched your video, I've been running the math in my head... I guess the X-Factor is the depth of my aftermarket wheels where the lugs insert. Basically, when I did the math with .5" spacer, the thickest the wheel can be where the threads insert is about .65", otherwise the size of the thread, it seems would be too short... from what I read, they said we need at least 12mm of thread for it to be safe. That all said, it looks like you made a good call w/ a 3/8. The crazy thing is, that adding .25" in the front required that much cutting. I checked on my 21 w/ one of those custom DIY hacks w/ cardboard and the .25" does make a massive difference as far as scrub radius clearance :/
@@ais122 Yeah I mean I also only have a 1.5" level and the bigger tires so i'm not really surprised that i had to trim the flaps.
I have the same exact truck.. did you lift it! I still have the stock wheels and tires on it and my tires are getting bald. What pm brand and what size tires did you get? Do they make a lot of road noise? Any information will be appreciated thank you
Yeah this truck had a 1.5" level. Stock 20x9 wheels, then added these spacers. 285/65R20 BFG T/A KO2 tires. They didn't make much noise, but they were a higher load range tire, so they rode more stiff.
What rain guards are those?
Factory Mopar in-channel style
Thanks 😊
Do you think you'd really notice any difference if you did the 3/8 or 1/4" spacers on all 4 wheels? I have different wheels that you, still OEM, but I also don't have fender flares on my truck and they are damn near flush now. I was looking into spacers before, but the Bora style spacers would have to be at least 1.5" thick and I think without flares that is way too much offset.
Yeah the reason you mention about the bora spacers is why I went with something like these. You could do all 4 the same, I just have OCD and wanted the front and rear track to match lol
@@TonyTheTruckGuy I don't think I will notice the difference, I ordered 1/4" for all 4
@@TonyTheTruckGuy waiting for it to warm up in Michigan, I have a 2" leveling kit and Rough Country upper control arms for my truck that I haven't installed yet. It has the off-road package so it will be 3" total lift. Also eyeing the Mopar off-road running boards.
Hi Tony, can you please provide an update on how the spacers are holding? Any vibration? Any issues? Thank you.
Very very small vibration, almost not even noticeable, but I’m 99% sure I had that before I even added the wheel spacers. I think they didn’t balance my new tires the greatest. I’ve also retorqued the lug nuts twice since installing these and that wasn’t even necessary as the lug nuts didn’t turn at all. I’ve also hauled my 700 pound ATV in the bed and pulled a 26 foot camper without any issues.
Great info. Thank you so much for your reply!!
How are the wheel spacers holding up after a year of having them on?
No issues with lug nuts coming loose or breaking. I’ll be rotating my tires shortly so I’ll visually inspect them for cracks or anything weird. Haven’t had the tires off since I put the spacers on haha.
What’s the overall tire height? Are those the stock 20x9 rims?
Yeah stock 20x9 wheels. The tire is something like a 34.5 and actually measures right around 34 I believe mounted and on the truck with weight on it.
Perfect. I’m looking for around 4” lift total. Mopar 2” lift and this size tire seems like it will achieve that.
Did you have to cut any wheel studs?
Nope. If anything I was worried that the studs wouldn’t be long enough, but I’ve not had any issues so far and I retorqued the lug nuts a few times, never an issue with a loose lug nut.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy Thank you
@@robz4825 No problem, good luck!
Are rams reliable?
Depends what year range you’re referring to haha
What brand wheel spacers?
BAER I think. I have them listed in the video description
