    Your video helped me prepare for a quick and easy install. Thank you. Tip for future installers, the bezel can be removed from the front. After you remove the anchors in the rear, head to the front of the bumper and enter your pry tool in the top of the bezel and shimmy it out with no trouble. Another tip, there's some play in the tow hook which changes its angle sticking through the bumper. make sure it looks straight before tightening down and closing up the wheel well.

    Tow hooks should be standard equipment on 4x4 trucks, I have a 2018 Ram no hooks on it, for $52000 it should have them, geez I had an East German car (WARTBURG 1000) in UK in 1965 that had them for pulling out of snow etc.

      I just did this to my 2022 1500 Bighorn today, took about an hour to do so. Getting the big bolts to loosen up in the first place was a pain, but you’ll manage. Especially if you have a breaker bar. But other than that, it was simple. Also, I turned my wheels away. So on the Drivers side, turn the wheels all the way to the left and then all the way to right for the passenger side. Makes it that much easier. And just like the guy said, be careful with the automated spoiler. Good luck!

    Pro tip whenever accessing anything from the wheel well.. jack up the vehicle let the suspension drop and you’ll have a little more room.. but for 60seconds work removing the wheel makes life a lot easier 😅

    I thought I might install hollow bezels and use each bumper hole as a single foot step when checking the dip stick or topping off fluids. Was able to reach in between the air dam and bumper and loosen the top 8 mm nuts with a wrench by feel, without turning the wheel or removing the wheel well trim. Don't need to remove the nuts, just loosen each nut and pull the nut and screw fastener combos back together. Then press down on the bezel top from the inside and pop it out towards the front. My 2020 did not have or need bottom retainer washer clips. Install of hollow bezels was similarly easy if you feel from the inside to have the bottom knobs fit inside the two holes. Foot fits in the hole great, the chrome metal bumper easily supports my weight (175 lbs), and the bezel protects the bumper from shoe scuffs. However, balancing on one foot means you have to support yourself with one hand and only have one hand free to work, negating the advantage. Also, the bottom of the bezel is not fully supported by metal so the bezel could deform or crack with repeated use. Also, the open hole is bad for aerodynamics and would allow road salt to get inside the bumper and blow onto the air dam joints. Best to keep the closed bezels if you don't install tow hooks and just use a shop stool big enough for both feet when working on the engine bay.

      @@foofstarr4856 Okay Ass Wipe, I just did a little research and experimentation. Didn't work out so great, but I posted the comment to save others the trouble. When I check my oil it's usually at the gas station while I am filling up with gas. I have never seen a step stool or ladder for customers at any gas station. Probably too much liability if someone drives over it or falls off of it. Would sure be handy to reach the dip stick and oil fill at the gas station and that was all I was trying to solve. You're a jerk for insulting me when I was merely trying to contribute.

So I never really had a chance to see what the truck got for mpg in stock form. The 2-3 mpg is just a guess based on other vehicles I’ve tested but I honestly don’t think I lost more than that. @@kennethpelczar6638 So that 18mm existing bolt is like 10” long. I think it fastens the truck body to the frame, so it’s gotta be tight af. Definitely use a 6pt socket to deal with it. AND if you reach up you can feel the thread end of the bolt protruding thru the fastening point - you might be able to see it from the top with the hood open. Hit those threads with some WD40. Great video - Thanks Tony!

      The steps? I believe the ones I had in this video were the Black Horse brand ones, although last time I checked, they weren’t available. I do have a video showing the install on those, and another video installing OEM steps and another video showing some yitamotor brand steps.

    Where can i find red tow hooks? or would you recommend plastidipping oem hooks?

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  Před 4 lety

      I don’t believe they make red tow hooks for the new Rams, at least not factory ones. I wouldn’t recommend doing plasti dip if you’re actually planning on using the hooks though, as after one good tug with a strap, it will undoubtedly peel. BUT, if you reallllly wanted them red, you could have someone powder coat them or spray paint them yourself before installing. It wouldn’t hurt to do a little more digging on the ‘ol Google, but I wasn’t seeing anything like that for these trucks at first glance. Even the Rebels don’t have red ones from what I’m seeing.

      Haha no this won’t affect your MPG. We’re talking .0000001 mpg if anything due to added weight of the hooks but you could also argue that the holes in the bumper around the hook allow more air flow and actually make it more aerodynamic.
