    I’d love to see more shop videos. I think they help folks understand how their machine works and could possibly prevent an error in operation that could cost them. Great job.

    Great vid. Going through the leaking lower shaft now with our cabbed GL5740. 550 hours on it. Big job. Thanks for posting this. Keep well. Cheers from Newfoundland, Canada

    I've got a gst and love it. Wouldn't have any other transmission on a tractor as long as it's an option

    I, and I’m sure many others, appreciate your delving more into the mechanicals of these machines. Many of us who use this kind of equipment are mechanically minded and like seeing how it works and possible issues to look out for so they can be avoided. Personally, the more I see of hydrostatic, the more I appreciate my old gear driven Ford 1920, but admittedly I don’t have a bucket and the need for constant forward/backward movement. One thing I do notice is how much lower to the ground the driving position of newer tractors is. That’s a good thing I imagine, I know how worn out I am from hoisting my overweight carcass up and down from my Ford all day.

    This transmission is way better for most general farm and property work. Better than HST in plowing, blade, and mowing and almost as good at loader work. If people would actually demo it they would probably sell alot of these still. Love my L4630 gst

    It is interesting to look at the guts inside the different tractors. 👍

    Love the GST. Great for loader work where you want a little more grunt into the pile or where you need the constant, consistent speed of a gear drive.

    Perfectly timed video! I've got a friend with a similarly aged 3240 with the hydro and she's got a transmission leak in that area. I'm guessing the two transmissions share a basic structure and that same lower shaft is where her leak is coming from. She's been a little shy about pulling the trigger on the repair because it's not cheap and the tractor would be down for a couple weeks most likely. I shared this video with her so she has a better idea of what's going on inside those housings.
    Thank you!

    Just purchased a used manual Kubota L4400 with only 100 hours on it and while searching for grease points I noticed the little pin valve you mentioned and had no idea what it was. Thanks for the info!!

    Well Mr.Neil , this was a Great Vidio. By getting into the "meat& potatoes" the "GEARS" are what makes a tractor ;A TRACTOR ! Sure glad to see you getting your hands a little greasy. Also seeing a Tractor with some "Real use" ,with some 4000+ hours was grand ( like they are suppose to be used for). This just goes to show the real reliability of the "older Kubota products " with only needing a little bit of "tweeking". Hope to see More of these "Mechanical Adventures". Thank you Sir for the Excelent vidio. Best wishes with all your endeavours.

    I think the GST would work well for a lot of what I do. Nice that it has more speeds than the straight gear drive transmission. I like the 12 speed on my old Ford 1700 compact. It just isn’t quite big enough/hefty enough sometimes…

  • @pjp80s
    @pjp80s Před rokem +4

    Neil… honest answer please: how many hours can you get out of these older tractors? My 3940 is about to hit 600 hours, the good old girl! I bet your viewers would love to see videos on older machines you took in as trades…. That would help you sell kubota’s reliability and get more people remain loyal for life.

    I run a lx2610 for snow work in the winter and mowing in the summer, i love the tractor, but the only annoyance i have is that the hydro whine is so loud!! I know thats probably how its supposed to be, but it does get annoying after a while.

      @@DougieDick We're talking machines 10-15 years where this is relevant. All the current machines are already done this way.

    GST is my absolute favorite without question. I hate HST’s. I can’t believe people are so lazy that all they can manage is to push a pedal and lose 50% of the HP they paid for and listen to the constant whine of the pumps. Oh and don’t forget you need 60 gallons of specialized expensive oil to change the fluids in the damn thing. Sorry I just don’t see the appeal.
