Thanks for posting. It looks good. The only thing I wish you would have included is the one thing that I think is going to be a speed bump for anyone who tried to make this and actually use it to balance their motorcycle wheels/tires and that what to use as a temporary axle and how to hold the wheel in place on that axle when using the balancer? I know a piece of pipe was shown but that certainly wouldn’t fit any wheel I’ve ever had on a bike. Any thoughts?

Ah, yes. The washer and bolt clamp on the inner race so the outer race is spaced away from the bracket. Without the washer the outer race would drag or pinch against the bracket.

Thank you for making this great video. May I ask, what distance is between the centres of the two holes?

Hi Gary, thats about 30mm. It has to be just enough so that the bearings don't touch eachother you know.

You need a way to align the two stands and secure them in place. Otherwise they would move all over the place. And then comes the main flaw: there is no way to level the axle as, except to level the workbench and pray the two stands are perfecty equal in height. Which would never be.

Just bubble level and shim 1 side to level. Then don't move it. If you bump it recheck the level

I believe you own a BMW GS can this be adapted / modified to balance a rear wheel from a BM?

Hi Jack I have made this a long time ago. But any cheap little bearings will do the job 😉🏍

  • @1stofer

Super easy , let me just go get my took box full of bearings out.

This sarcastic criticism makes no sense. “Easy” doesn’t mean you won’t need to buy anything and you can get cheap bearings anywhere. Maybe you don’t know that they are in everything from your tools to your fidget spinner.

After all that effort would have been a good idea to actually show your idea in action actually balancing a wheel 🤦
