Could Dr.Idress do a side by side with Dr.Bae in the same room regarding why you do/do not need a moisturizer after hyaluronic acid serum?
Please more explication about serum and actives because for me a retinol cream (active) or vitamine C (active) is a serum. Thank You!
Is it safe to use Vit A after getting off (years ago) of Accutane?
I’m officially offended by all these dermatologist with flawless skin & beautiful personalities
Lilianna B same!!
It makes me wonder what if you're somebody like me with stubborn adult acne who wants to be a dermatologist
@@erinwhite8456 Same, I have bad skin too but I'm thinking becoming a dermatologist, may be a good career for me because I can learn how to take care of my skin better while also helping other feel better about theirs.

Can I use Apple cider vinegar as cleanser?
*cue the shade at the influencers* “everyone’s an expert nowadays” LOL
Well she did go to school for over a quarter of a century + a decade of medical specific training/fellowships/board certification/continuing education... So yeah people probably come to her all of the time questioning her because they read a blog once and have zero background or training and she has to defend herself -- it can be a little tiresome 🙄
Kate S. Exactly! It’s crazy people are soaking up info from non medical influencers. Absolute insanity. Example: Kylie Skincare
Cue Susan Yara
Yeah I'm so glad HB did this. That also applies to all the comments that ask for Susan Yara (?) to review the go to bed series and honestly knows very little about she's talking about
I love her😂👌
DR. BAE DROP YOUR HAIR ROUTINE NEXT!
SERIOUSLY!
❣️ Yes omg
Yassss
Yasss please and a freakin skincare line
*BE ASIAN*
This series has taught me that even dermatologists have different opinions on skincare.
Correctt, humans afterall not perfect😂😂
YES! In another DermReacts video a dermatologist said the exact opposite about HA serums and following with a moisturizer afterwards... Good luck with not being confused after that.
Yeah that’s why the best thing is to get a dermatologist that way they can cater to your specific skin
@@steff.5580 Well I guess it depends on the environment and skin type and all the dermatologists do tell us to consult our own dermatologist to customise our own skin care. If you're in a very humid environment and don't have dehydrated skin, you wouldn't need an extra moisturizer because the HA would pull in moisture from the environment but if you're in an environment that has less than 70% humidity you would need an emollient so the HA can pull the moisture from the moisturizer.
@@kys4s4c FYI HA is not that powerful. Many dermatologist, medical aesthetician have said HA acts more as tape than a magnet, if it's in contact in water, it will absorb it. It won't draw in water from the air in your environment, that is why they say to pair it with. As a humectant, HA will help keep moisture into your skin, if you skin is dry asf, adding HA won't do anything except sit on your face.
It’s official. All dermatologists look so beautiful, even mine in singapore has flawless skin and I asked her if there was any dermatologists that she knew who has bad skin? She told me ‘yeah but we all know how to fix it’ lol she followed up with saying ‘have you seen any gym instructors who are in bad shape?’ As she flipped her hair 😂
dermatologists in my country have a freaking flawless skin.
dermatologists in my country look like the average person with paler skin 😂

I would love to hear an expert's opinion on body skincare!! It gets so overlooked and I have as many issues on my body as I do on my face, if not more.
Isidora S. Yes! Por favor 💕
I’m the same way, what helped me a lot was scrubs but on my body not my face, I use lush sea salt scrub and it helped a lot with my back acne!!!
@@bradleylouse7808 exactly! before isotretinoin my back acne only got better with scrubbing it every day or every other day. Lush scrubs doesn't have microplastic so are a must
I've recently been using chemical exfoliating pads (neogen lemon ones) on my back tjen following it up with a little bit of the oridinary retinol and I've really noticed a change.
Parps That product has a lot of alcohol in it, I personally don’t like it, if your looking at chemical exfoliation I recommend glycolic acid. Krave Beauty Glycolic Acid costs about $25. For me it lasts about 5-6 Months.
I want to know who did Dr. Bae's makeup. Classic contoured eyes and glowing, clean complexion - beautifully done!
YASS!!
It’s a classic Korean 10 step skin care + makeup..sunscreen, primer, foundation a shade lighter (which brightens the face and no bronzer
I don't know why she bothered with her nose, as she's already had a nose job which borders on overdone, though I like it, overall.
Why does it feel like she is a dermatologist by day, by night she fights crime.
lol!
Are they never gonna talk about sunscreen? I’m gonna cry I need to know everything about sunscreen ASAP! I break out so much because of it
We'll def add it to our list of comments! Stay tuned 😉
Harper's BAZAAR thank you!!
I tried Korean sunscreen because normal sunscreens just didn't work for me. I'd seriously recommend them. Klairs, krave, Missha have some graat ones.
Have you tried micronized physical sunscreens in the US that's pretty much eltaMD, but most of the Asian sunscreens are bomb -- Anessa, Nivea, biore etc
@@CookieDr007 I've tried La Roche Posay and Vichy Labratoires, my logic is the more expensive the sunscreen, the better it is but they aren't working out for me!! ( i live in canada )
All these women dermatologists are jaw-dropping-dead- gorgeous. like wow. btw, Bazaar, can you add hair care to these series too? Hair is also part of the skin...
Having a dermatologist speak on these things is rly important as channels like the mixed make up ones where Susan reacts literally spreads one very limited opinion on skincare whereas dermatologists who have studied and have scientific knowledge of these things are much less subjective and judgemental, I like how she's like yea that can work or it may not and that's rly important because everyone is different but CZcamsrs will have you thinking you have to do everything one way
Amen!
Smart move by Harper's bazaar. Using the same concept yara is doing, but with actual board certified dermatologists. They definitely saw the popularity of Yara's series essentially bashing their content, discrediting them, probably bordering defamation. Beat her at her own game. I really don't understand why people follow Yara, because her opinions are always changing (based on who's sponsoring her or advertising *cough* Susan and Sharzad show *cough*), and she hasn't had any medical/aesthetic formal certification either.
Is Susan a dermatologist...? Or esthetician?
Joyce Lima I think she said she was neither.
@@joycelimaks nope, a glorified beauty reviewer who worked in the skincare section in retail

It’s genetic. My dermatologist said those who were born with the not so lucky disposition for good skin will take a lot of work and money to achieve a better skin but comparing to someone who was born with the good base (genetic) it’d be hard to compete against it.
However she empathised this is dependable on how you take care of your skin regardless of your genetic base. consistency and maintenance is key - you might get away with abusing/neglecting your skin in 20s but once you hit 30s/40s the consequence of your past neglect/abuse will begin to show.
She also told me your skin care should change depending on your skin cycle for example, during menstrual cycle the hormones can make your skin extra sensitive so she told me to avoid any exfoliating/strong skin products and simple is better focusing on moisturiser and sunscreen.
There's a part of genetics for sure but I also think that in the long run they will lose that skin if they don't treat it well. I've seen it on friends who got older and even on my husband who his getting is first wrinkles at 30 (he was 24 when we met and had a gorgeous skin).
Noor Taiyeba it’s called genetics. People have different skins and also have more or less problems with their skin depending on their genetics.
I am oily and live in a tropical country (the humidity is insane), so hyaluronic acid is enough as a moisturizer just like she said. 😆
I am skinny and live in a cold northern country (humidity is low), so hyaluronic acid is not enough, but in the cold I will remain longer than you 😆
yeah it's true that hyaluronic acid (especially the high-molecular weight kind) can provide a moisturzing film on your skin to prevent moisture loss
But generally she should have point that it acually is a good advice for people who don't live in humid climates..
Same same... That's why you tend to change your moisturizer at summer or winter.
literally EVERY Derm has a different opinion I DONT KNOW WHATS RIGHT AND WHATS NOT
Ok but i want HER skincare routine
me: picking at a pimple
dr: "you want to be very gentle with your skin"

This is my favorite new feature on the internet. Yes. xoxo. 10. A+
Having a professional give advice on this social platform absolutely helped me learn about some mistakes I was making with my skincare routine. Personally, her advice about tretinoin and other things (like when certain outcomes of skin products are particularly bad or good for the skin). I've had some problems about skin irritation and dryness due to acne cream. Dr. Cindy Bae answered all of my questions/concerns.
👏
Dr.Bae- what’s your skincare and hair routine???? Thank you !!!
I love Dr. Bae. She is honest, kind, and super smart!

I love how she brings the science into it mentioning the pH of our natural skin and the possible climate of the area
Omg Dr Cindy Bae is drop dead gorgeous ❤️ I want skin like hersssss 😍
Dr Bae has the most beautiful voice
I love this series. Education from experts 💜
CZcams “skin experts” actually misled me to believe that I need moisturizer. I started breaking out and my derm told me to stop using it cause I’m in a humid country and I have oily skin. Then bam acne gone
Marie that just means your moisturizer wasn’t suitable for your skin
you may not need moisturizer but you didn’t break out because you don’t need moisturizer and you used it. again, you broke out bc of the moisturizer you used.
True! Not everyone needs a moisturizer, if the skin has a heathy barrier and enough moisture it doesn’t need products.
Dermatologists and estheticians will tell you to find a moisturizer that's good for your skin type. The point of a moisturizer is to prevent trans epidermal water loss, which can happen even in humid climates.
asteroides what kind of lies are you spreading? Every dermatologist says you need to use a moisturizer to protect your skin.
I love this series ❤️ Getting to learn so much about Skin
THANK YOU! I always thought I was overdoing it by using tretinoin because I don't see any celebrities mention it in their skincare routines. My mom got me into Retin-A early in my twenties and honestly it has been a saviour for my problematic skin. Just moisturize and do NOT forget the sunscreen.
That skin looks UNREAL. Literally flawless.
I know in the last “Dermatologist reacts to CZcams Comment Section” video, a lot of us wanted to make another reaction video, and I just wanted to thank Harper’s BAZAAR for noticing us ❤️❤️❤️
💕Stay tuned for more episodes! Share and like this video, too! We want to make this an ongoing series ✨

(I lie, I could focus, I guess I just wanted to be distracted XD)
Omg! Can she drop her skincare routine?!?! Her skin is sooooooo PRETTY!
Those videos are GREAT I really love them!
If you have oily skin ALWAYS use a moisturiser. ALWAYS. It actually stops your skin from overproducing oil and gives you a healthy glow while softening your skin and preventing acne.
Thanks Harper’s Bazaar on this series. Really help dispels all those confusing info from so called beauty “influencers”. If you want to get it right, talk to a certified expert. Me like 💜👏
There is conflicting information here. Dr. Idriss said in another video that HA is not a moisturizer. I agree that is it not however your environment is a huge factor how effective HA is on its own.
I think that dermatologists have different opinions on certain things, Idk, that’s what I think.
Not everyone has the same opinion. And it’s okay even for dermatologists!
The science behind HA is the same and is accepted by all dermatologists. It's how they apply that knowledge to their practice is where the differences happen. Yes i saw Dr. Idriss's disdain for HA in her channel.
Doctor Bae is so beautiful!😍
This lady is hypnotically beautiful
Very informative! Thank you
Why do I enjoy these videos so much??
I've been using the Aztec healing clay on my face. It cleared up my acne. My face is minimally oily now. I hate the pulsating sensation it gives and your face is so dry after but it really really works for me. All I do is wash my face with any cleanser, apply the clay mask and moisturize.
I LOVE these videos. Thx doctors!!

So true, Med school is exhausting and a long career but worth it :D Thank you so much Dr. Bae
I would like to know how to get rid of the scars/redness left by blemishes!
Dr.Bae congratulations on your pregnancy.
I put on humectants first. Then, sunscreen. I follow with my favorite occlusive--petroleum jelly. But I feel it is important to use a humectant and sunscreen that has no fragrance. Fragrance can cause an allergic reaction. This is simply to avoid a reaction that can arise from prolonged--sealed--contact with the skin.
Sunscreen is supposed to be the last step
1 year ago, my skin was full of acne, big and small and scars, the first time it happen was because I'm using blackhead tools, but now my skin is flawless and glowy, I'm using kangen water from japan (acidic and beauty water for acne, and moisturize), safi gold essence for the texture, and good old beauty routine like face wash, chemical peel to erase the scar, for 1 year though
I live for these videos
i love how she used mathematical terms such as multifactorial and common denominator in the video LOL
Doctors have to go through at least a Calculus 2 :)
What blusher is she wearing 😍 l need that.
I wash my face twice a day - once in the shower (morning), and the other time (at night) in the bathroom sink with a face cloth (not to be confused with makeup cloths). Is that okay? I know face cloths might be old school, but I have been using them for 20 years at night. I don't scrub harshly or anything, I just use them to remove my gel cleanser off my face.
Yes we love this
Love her hair
i went to a dermatologist, i asked what can i do to borrow those sun freckles and pigment spots, fine lines and some milia, gave me a tretinoid based cream that i have to get from the chemist...is taking some time but it does help, i use it at night and a sunblock the next day...not bad
I need her night skincare now!

When she said “you don’t always have to use a moisturizer,” I almost choked on my pasta.
Of course, taken in context, it made a lot of sense. But I’ve always thought that rule #1 was to alwayssssss use a moisturizer, whether or not you have oily skin. It’s good to learn. :)
Samantha-M. Siiiissss I choked with you! I legit paused it and screamed!!!
...on top of HA acid. Especially if u live in a humid climate or have oily skin. She didn’t just say u don’t always have to use a moisturizer in regular everyday contexts. Edit: or maybe not. I’m still watching the video at the serum section so maybe she mentions it later in the video.
YES! When i heard her say that i immediately paused the video and went to the comments (And saw yours). Its odd hearing a Dermatologist say that .
In the book Beyond the Skin, Dr. Sandy Skotnicki (a canadian dermatologist) says the same thing. If your skin is already moisturized and you live in a humid weather, there’s no need for a moisturizer.
A moisturizer is generally either one of, or a combination of 3 things: a humectant, occlusive and emollient. What they are defined as will often depend on the dermatologist that you see based off of where they studied etc. You don't always need all three of them depending on skin type and climate. An occlusive prevents your skin from losing moisture to the surrounding atmosphere. If you are very oily the natural oils that you produce already act like an occlusive, similarly if you live in a humid environment, you don't have to worry about losing water to the air. Emollients are present in a variety of products already outside of things labeled as a moisturizer, and the HA in this case is already the humectant. Without knowing the full background of a person and the products that they are using you cannot say for certain any of these things are missing.
EDIT: She literally goes through this towards the end.
Please do a video with a dermatologist about hair loss especially hereditary one.
Amen! Finally a derm with some semblance of a conscience to recommend differin gel instead of peddling some rip-off retinol to people!
