- Ohm, featuring Chris Poland on guitar, Robertino Pagliari (Pag) on 6 string fretless bass and Kofi Baker on drums. This was recorded live in studio at KPFK 90.7 Radio in Los Angeles in 2003. The energy of this performance is incredible and shows how a spontaneous live performance can sound. Raw and off the floor as it's played without polishing.

Chris Poland's playing is so masterful, and magical. I'm so proud to say he's my biggest influence on my guitar playing.
Me to man. Chris Poland is a guitar master and he's humble about it and doesn't brag or show off.. he just loves to play...
Chris Poland and David Gilmour are my two biggest guitar inspirations and influences... I hope one day I will be as brilliant as them in my own way
Haha, thing is man... The reason why geniuses, like Chris Poland are so humble is because they don't realize how good they are.. or that they're even a genius. And It just comes so naturally to him, he's just doing what he loves most.
They don't find what they're doing as difficult or as good as it really is just like with most genuine geniuses. When in truth, no one can sound as unique and smooth, and just over all amazing as him. You can tell someone is truly talented when they're amazing at what they do, and are genuinely humble about it and do it because they love it. In truth, he's probably if not one of, he is the best guitarist on this planet. I've never heard anyone else who makes me hold my breath and cling to the edge of my seat, whenever they go into a run quite like Chris Poland.
@@MrEyebrowz Guthrie Govan is in that league for me also.
Me too man! One of my favorites!
@@MrEyebrowz amazingly said and 100% on point.
New to Ohm. Wow! Twenty years too late! This still holds up!
The first time I saw them they were opening for King's X in Phoenix. When King's X came to town the local promoters would put 3 or 4 typically horrible local metal bands on as openers. Apparently Ohm played with King's X the night before in LA and King's X asked if they'd like to come over and open for them in Phoenix as well....so we no real idea they were on the bill until that day and we had no real idea what to expect as I had never hear them before. There were two or three bad metal bands on before them and then they came on. Our jaws hit the floor. After a couple songs Pags asked, "Hows everybody doing?" Some guy next to me said, "Better now!" I couldn't have agreed more.
I saw them again in Phoenix a few years later and at the end of that show I felt like I was musically "full". Like I'd just eaten a really good meal. I was inspired. It was so different and original. Just amazing!
Y'all know, it's actually wild. If that change in management hadn't occurred, we might have never gotten this wonderful recording of one of the best performances from one of the most incredible fusion acts.
that last jam is one of the craziest guitar slayings that has ever happened. damn.
I was there that night inside Kpfk radio- totally awesome and Again i2015. Nice to see something like this in lLa's dying musical culture because of lack of venues for creative artists.
Chris Poland is just a beast. Great performance man, this is just so great to hear. Ohm has so little performances on record, and less still that were recorded with this quality.
I spoke with Chris at the Key club back years ago. I likened hearing this for the first time to the feeling I had when I heard Brand X- X Communication for the first time. He nearly shit and said, Hey Robby did you hear that?!!! These guys are so grounded they really dont know how great they are, or at least they hide it well. Honestly 2 of the nicest guys around. Chris and Pag that is, Kofi was really cool too, funny guy. Drummers come and sadly go for these guys. :(
No not at all, he was great! He was so humble he was blown away that I would make any comparison to the great Brand X X Communication. Yes they have had very bad luck with friends and drummers passing as of late unfortunately, very sad stuff. Kofi going a different way was a huge disappointment for me as a fan of the band. He was the best that played with them in my opinion. I meant nothing negative in any way by my comment. Dont know how you got that from my comment.
I realized that later, no worries. They are great guys all of them and I am very sad for all friends and family of David and Nick. Unfortunately I never had a chance to see them live with Nick. I did however get a chance to see them with David. He was also very kind and genuine after the show. I had always wanted to see him play after hearing their first Cd. I really hope to see them playing at the Baked Potato again soon. So far not on the calender :(
I fuck it up and it is my only language lol. I hope you get a chance they are very approachable and easy going.
The way this music just flows is just amazing. Like water running down a brook!
Those ring-modulated war cries, though… ❤
Seriously masterful music all around, with real ideas and melodies to go along with the godlike chops.
Amazing work by Chris Pag and Kofi…!!!One if the Beat moments for Ohm
That... that bass tone... good plays, such love! :)
What should i say, this guys sound amazing!!!
I love this mix :Jazz, Blues, Rock, simple wow!
Thanx 4 the upload, such an great gift, for x- mas!!!!
Damn! That Machine Gun homage at the very end! ❤
This cd is in my top 5 of all time
Pag is the actual shiznittt!!!
He is so damn creative with his 6 string fretless bass, and how he bend or stretches sounds with the wah wah pedal is beyond common playin.
I try to check ot out for few months, it is worth practicing.
Check Rob's lines out, and you become a better bassist!!!
He is a true master, like the other two magicans, too.

KPFK... 😊 Since 1985.
Eargasmic!!!! Long live OHM!
Thank you visualphotos for such rare and great upload
incredible performance! sound is amazing too! thanks so much for sharing this. Chris Poland kills. This entire band is working so well together here!
Such raw sounding tone unlike many other solo guitarists whose playing is aided by the compact effects ....but not even a slight dull moment of simple scales and notes ....the master of off notes and mystic scalings...m pretty sure Kirk Hamlet fans will stop listening after the first five seconds 😁
What a great lineup and gig! Chris is awesome as always. Never fails to impress!
Excellent tone here! early Ohm:!!!
Shovel est I agree...
Thanks for posting
i struggle with fusion though love how he put it megadeth, however, i just read the thing here.. live improv!? holy shit! i played most my life and can't even understand how lol, the bass and guitar are doing chordal shit, implying chords, modulations, soloing, reharmonising.. it's funny too, it's clicking for me a bit now.. incorporating tiny bits of CP's style, i would get sacked from my blues gig if i played it at gig though or maybe not, we rock out sometimes too :D
Theory knowledge and instrument mastery.
Great performance.Chris Poland doesn't need Megadeth.
Anybody out there know the set list?
