When I started doing this, I was on a very small and narrow board. Having a offset or V-straps was throwing off the balance and not giving me as much toeside leverage. It was awkward for a day or two when I switched, but after getting the feel, I found I had more control. I tried in on my bigger boards and found it to be equally as effective at increasing control.
