    The problem with Jalen’s whole comparison to Daniel and Fales is that those guys were backups not starters. They were being paid backup QB money. Kaepernick was never going to go back to the NFL for backup money. Malcolm Jenkins never even took a knee and he's still in the NFL so he was able to work on that deal. The owners refused to have Kapernick be a part of the meeting. A lot of the players weren't involved in that meeting like Eric Reed and Michael Bennett, which said Jenkins didn't have permission to speak on behalf of the players and asked him to stop communicating with the owners without them being involved. Kapernick was black balled so you can't hold him accountable for starting the conversation but dealing with owners who were unwilling to invite him in on the conversation.

    Very often I find myself sharing similar points of view with Jalan Rose. I don't in this case. And I think it's a stretch comparing Tebow's kneeling as a celebration to Kaps protest, but I respect his opinion and point of view.

    • @CorbCorbin
      @CorbCorbin Před 6 lety +2

      Jay Senise If Kaepernick had said he was kneeling to thank the Christian deity and respects everything like Tebow, it wouldn't have been an issue. You can't trample on religious freedom.....oh wait you can....and.....showing respect for lost lives, instead of a flag, that has different meanings for many people, that's a "take your career away" offense.

    • @jaysenise3501
      @jaysenise3501 Před 6 lety

      CorbCorbin: I hear what you're saying and I get it. Personally, I don't think Kap should have essentially thrown away his career over this. That said, Kap didn't really think this through when he began protesting. He offended too many people without having a plan on how to transition his protest to the dialog he'd hoped to create in an attempt to inspire change. So what instead happened was the focus was on the negative aspects. Of course I am saying this after the fact where in hindsight it's clear he could have handled it better, and I get that. But he also said that if he got a job he'd stop protesting. I can't read his mind so I won't try to figure out why that is, everyone can have their own opinions on it. However my point to Jalan is the same point I'd say to you. Obviously if he knelt and said he was kneeling in prayer for lost lives or something that could be interpreted as respectful there would not have been outrage, but he said something very different. Something that at least half the country took as disrespectful. Just my opinion and reply to your comments.

    Kaepernick turned down NFL contract and then he found a way to make money through the "social justice", doesn't make him anything but an opportunist in a capitalist society, I can respect that. I think it is fair to say if he didn't protest he would be in the NFL, but he did it to himself by making the distraction he brings far outweighs his impact on the field. We seen players get pushed out of the league for things like domestic violence while their playing ability is still very good, now this might be an extreme example to compare but from a capitalist point of view it is the same thing, the return you get will never match the distraction they cause to your bottom line.

    Five simple things that EVERYONE can do to avoid jail and negative encounters with the police. And they're really this simple:
    1) Don't do drugs. ANY of it. And until Weed is legalized at the Federal level, then it's probably a bad idea to carry around pipes and baggies of weed on you. Especially if you're the type of douchebag that draws attention to yourself because you have to feel important. More on that below....
    2) Don't associate with questionable people. And yes, that might mean you may have to make hard choices about who you hang out with. Man up and kick them out of your life.
    3) Don't give an attitude to the police. Playing lawyer with a cop on the side of a highway while he's trying to write you a ticket....isn't going to make that ticket go away.
    4) Stay out of problem areas, or bad areas of town, unless you absolutely HAVE to go there. And if you live there, then stay in doors and lay low. Go straight to work, school, and/or home, and nowhere else. Work hard and earn the money to move out and start a better life elsewhere. Going to jail or the morgue because you decided to be a dumbass with the law or the police is going to hinder those plans, isn't it?
    5) Don't fight with the police. Stiffening up instead of putting your hands behind your goddamn back when they try to handcuff you IS RESISTING ARREST. Period. Unless you are doing EXACTLY what you are told and cooperating 100%, you are RESISTING A LAWFUL ARREST. And if you don't think it's lawful, then argue your case in court like a decent citizen, instead of fighting with the police. Reality is not a TV show....you don't get to negotiate with the police and beg or plead with them about anything. That's not how reality works. Save it for COURT.
    An honorable mention: don't draw attention to yourself in any way, shape or form. And contrary to popular belief, cops don't just stop black people because they're black. That's a myth perpetrated by the Liberal media. We're not living in the 1960s anymore. Drive with your seat-belt on and obey all traffic laws/signals, pull your fucking pants up when you are walking around town, turn your cap around on straight, and don't loiter around outside of businesses after dark. Sagging pants make you look like a dumbass with that cap, and loitering for no apparent reason is suspicious, and thus: attention worthy.
    There. Simple things that ANYONE can do, regardless of skin color. And it didn't even take a protest. All it took was a little bit of common sense. Your skin color is no excuse for ignorance of reality and how the law works.

      You cant say simple things we can do regardless of skin color. Because we dont get treated the same..... Like literally. So all the antics you just spoke only shows how white PRIVILEGE is very real. You don't know what it's like to be black or what we have to go through. How you can be doing nothing wrong and still get killed.
