Nice rescue guys. That’s a solid car, a lot more than my tr4 was before restoration. Glad you got it, always good see another one saved… take care guys….
After 28 years in the open on its own this car looks fine indeed. With good care these TRs really seem to last.
Good with your new project
I looked at that car (and the two others). I figured that they were just parts cars because they were all too far gone to restore economically. However, you have the skills to do it! I’m glad you’ll be resurrecting that “beauty”.
Elin, you saved another one!! Good on you. For having sat outside for 28 years the floors and trunk are in great shape. It really is a diamond in the rough. Patina smamina. I hope Thomas the T4 gets a new coat. ( of paint)
One week. I just finished a one week project. No engine work. No interior work. No body work. Just brakes, suspension, wiring and install engine/gearbox. Two of us worked 10/12 hour days for 18 days. I understand wanting to save a car but as long as you add new projects to the schedule you will never get the old ones done. Great seeing you and the Chef together.
well done ...you have great persistance...its whats needed with these old yokes...its also important to be able to prioritise and not to keep on taking on projects otherwise you can become stressed. great video....well done and the love you have for these cars is so nice to witness.
Elin you are providing a public service keeping these vehicles on the road, great work 👍👍⭐⭐
Cool Another one! All hail Tiara the Fourth!
I can't believe that bolt snaped.
Great new project Elin!
Love the new project! BTW - The bottle cap is from a Rickards Red Beer bottle.
Nice! Another Signal red TR4 (kinda)
This car will run beautifully after a couple of weeks of your attention
i had a 65 tr4 in 72. black with spoke wheels. fond memories. fun car.
Wow, it really is better than it looked at first! You didn't mention the door crease. The TR4 is in good hands for sure. On the engine, I was kind of wondering if something in the drive train caused it to sit for so long. I once bought a spare engine to swap into a car. It was from a known 'good guy' in the BMW community. I wanted to reseal it and also replace the head gasket, and found that it was locked up like yours. Rings rusted to the liners. Sooo mad. But, it led to my first engine rebuild, and that was a great experience!
In the past we used pour Marvel Mystery Oil into the cylinders and let soak a day or or 2 or 3 and then put the car in gear (2nd gear I think) and rock the car back and forth to free up a seized engine but after reading one of the comments regarding pressure plate bolt that come free and your seized valve, I don’t know if that might not possibly cause more damage. We were young then and very lucky in the 60s.
I was going to suggest that you have a freshly rebuilt TR4 engine sitting right there (shhhhhh... I won't tell Cheftush, if you don't.) But I guess that wouldn't be very nice. 😃
Kudos on the save and good luck on the project. Love the videos.
I bought a ten year old bmw 2002 in 1978 that wouldn’t turn over. To make a long story short, one of the clutch pressure blade bolts had come out and jammed between the flywheel and the bell housing. Once I pulled the transmission it turned freely
That is what I did with my Spitfire! Just a rustoration and make it safe for the road but I had done mine in 6 months! I also have another car in the works and will be reveling what it is in a couple weeks. I sure hope you can get it running and to the 6 pack trials because I will be there one way or another!!
They’re better on the road than sat waiting for a nut and bolt resto! Plus it’s a shame for you not to have a drivable Triumph. Any idea where in the US it was imported from? Given the low rust and visible sun damage to the paint and rubber maybe you lucked out and got a dry state car?
Elin - is this a joint project with you and David or is it just yours? Love this model.
Just Elin.
3:25 "It's going to be fine!" As Chef Tush stated, so we all must believe. Count your blessings Elin, Tiara the 4th rolled out of the driveway with no drama, so that was a good surprise. Will you do a 'Post Mortem' on the engine once you yank it out? I'm curious to know if engine damage was why it was parked all those years ago.
I hope the GT 6 will ready for the street some day, there is not so match to do on the body, most of them is done. The other projects can wait without the Miata. I think a little help from Cheftush and the GT 6 will run faster than you think.
Well you are closer to having the full Triumph line up Tr3 Tr4 Tr6 spit x2 half way there Tr2 , Tr4a,Tr5 /250. Still to come. Enjoy and the fun of working on them and enjoy thr drve whenever you get the chance.
We didn’t really want to see Anna the Mk3 GT6 painted and back together this year anyway !
At least the complete Triumph sports collection to match David’s is coming along…. Plus somehow I don’t think he will get a Spitfire or GT6 ! 😊
Great project car, looks like it has only been stood outside for 5 years not 26 wow! You could nick Cheftush’s engine 😂😂😂
Did all the krap inside the car blow out while you were driving it home?
Nothing like being addicted to the TR eh? Obsession
A “not happy ending “ would have been a rotted out frame and major structural repairs. Just needs a good plan and a little bit of your talent to be a driver. Good luck.
😎
Is'nt the crank bolt an opposite thread? In which case you have just undone it!
Not on these cars..regular thread.
I have a spare TR3A overdrive.
Thanks Dave, can you email me at elin.yakov@rustybeauties.com I am interested. Thanks
What you paid for it?
Gentlemen. That is the cap from a bottle of Rickard's Red beer. I am so disappointed in you both.
I’m not a beer drinker, sorry 😉
aha first
…. Doh! How did this ‘second’ red TR4 Rustotation slip in front of that gorgeous GT6? I mean c’mon… that GT6 is very upset and thinks you don’t love her at all! Lol 😂.
She is right there, inside the garage, all the parts are there and you ignore her like she’s just a piece of GT trash. Lol!
I bet she even has an engine that runs!! .. but Noooo, you find another Red TR4 ‘MESSterpiece’ and you get all excited. I’m calling the GT6 Foster Parent hotline to find a new home for that GT HotBabe! She’s deserves better! You’ll be sorry when she is all painted and looking super fast and sleek, and you’ll look at yet another Patina Princess and realize you could be diving and hot head-turner GT! 😂 Lol
Just razing you! 👍
You’ve resurrected way, way worse cars. I’m certain you can do this one, too.
Heineken??.... Where's the Stella gone... Unsubscribed 😉
It was “emergency beer” from the corner gas station 😉
