I really like this gun, in case it wasn't obvious. Easy to get, powerful, fitting to what a legendary maliwan smg should be. It's just right on so many levels
And there are people complaining about gearbox nerfing OP guns and buffing weak guns for some reason (not that the Westerngun was weak). This thing is great now.
The guy at 7:05 wasn't killed by splash but clearly by rickoshet of Indiscriminate. What's interesting though Indiscrimiate value was actually way higher then initial impact value (instead of being 20% lower). I wonder what boosts it, perhaps another hidden Do harm properity?

I need to test its relation to other elemental tree skills more (other than TTB ofc).

Yes - I agree 100%. I had one from Mr. Beans before any of the patches. It was great then. And this was just in NVHM playthrough. Lower levels etc. I hoe they leave it as is! Its perfect!

You inspired me to start a amara charcter after maining moze and its seriously the most fun ive ever had especially exploring maliwan and Jacobs rather than using the same 5 weapons everyone uses in builds, shes so much like maya in terms of gameplay
This would be a great addition to the Trevonator build. I’m using a binary shock/radiation trevonator, low level sellout, hornet, and hellfire with the transformer, storm front, elemental projector, and purple brawler com with personal space and arms deal boosts. The westergun could become a two in one for my fire and corrosive needs and open up another weapon slot.
It's great that this is so farmable since you can get so many flavor combinations. It's a damn solid elemental gun that's good on everyone and if you're missing an element chances are you can get it pretty quickly.
I'm so glad it got a buff. It felt like the classic bl2 maliwan smgs. Kept it just in case of a buff. Then mayhem weekend came along and I farmed BEAN and got a 300 dmg on phaseslam. Super great with a grasp build as well really.
Glad you did this! The Cutsman sometimes isn't the best option and the Hellfire in this game kinda sucks so the Westergun has become a favorite of mine.

ive been farming for a fire and corrosive westergun with a 50% shock annointment for my amara. get that thing with a binary prefix and the large mag and i'll never have to switch weapons.

That guy from roughly the 7:15 minute marker was actually way up high on the second deck and was bubbled by your special skill and then he jumped down (or was forced down) and then got finished off. Poor bastard didnt stand a chnace. Incredible!
Gotta say Private beans is kinda my favourite character in the game. He's a smol boi and he gives out fun loot and he trashes on Ava so I see nothing but win.
Do people actually do 1life challenge runs on Borderlands games? That seems rather pointless considering how easy these games are and the pure over-power-fantasy nature of everything, i wouldn't even call that a challenge. Even a 1 life trilogy run would be cakewalk more time consuming than a challenge. Just my 2cents, i come from the Dark Souls challenge run community borderlands is new to me so forgive the ignorance!
Also i personally wouldn't consider challenge runs because of the amount of save/quitting required to bypass forced dialogue. I watched the 3h speedrun and it was 2 1/2 hours of save/quitting to bypass dialogue and 30min of gameplay. Most % challenge runs would be the same a solid 2-3hrs of save/quitting per run. At least until ppl discover proper segment skips if those are a thing in BL?
Looked around and most challenge runs in this series are fun challenges like manufacturer alliance runs, use what you loot runs etc. Soon as we can disable GR i'll work on routing/planning a no hit run. Depending on the rules one could run a Deathless/ Rough rider combo to stay at 1HP as a simple way to ensure legitimacy. Although you would lose out on self DoT projector relics strats, speed glitch, etc.

The Trevonator is a great weapon and, in cryo, absolutely is top gear for Zane. Zane cranks up the mag size and gun damage too, on too of all that. Ridiculously overpowered weapon.
Gotta love the smell of rads in the morning. The sound is damn good aswell. Derch man, you gotta play with the Recursion, trust me its very interesting, Maliwan has a few gems like this.
Yeah fair enough, Look forward to seeing you play with it man, if my testing is correct I think its a shotgun that can properly benifit from Overkill damage due to low pellet count. Just need to work out if Samsara effects projectiles that are already in flight and if it spawns new projectiles in flight. Sure theres a power combo there if the mechanics line up properly.
The devoted still outshines this on most characters because of the fact that two of them can shoot it forever and amara with phasegrasp allows you to spams 100+ bullets with so more dps and Zane is just Zane lol
Speaking of Maliwan, I know you got a hundred things you want to showcase - is the Cutsman one of them? I grabbed one the other day and finally got a chance to try it out, and instantly decided to build around it. I don't have a decent Maliwan-themed class mod or artifact yet, but it still wrecked ridiculously hard. With apologies to the Pimpernel, I don't typically think Maliwan when I want to kill a boss, but DAMN.
Does the westergun come with annoited perks?If so and it comes with a phaselam 300$ would that be worth it? or is it just better to get hte phasgrasp annoited if it comes with it?

Darch try out the blue fire shotgun you get from the side quest in the Dahl mines (on the way to tannis where you get the radio station near the bugs) it took me from 30 to mayhem (not incl mayhem tho since it was level 30)

Hey derch off topic but I was hoping you could cover the kinda messed up annointed stuff I got a rough rider for zane that starts recharging shields when barrier is deployed it kinda sounds useless like many others, I know u could do this topic better then anyone
I take back what i said about the Maleks Bane. I think it needs either its damage buffed or the ammo consumption lowered though. Its special effect is not worth the amount of ammo it chugs through. Alot of people still make fun of the Lob, its not as bad. You have to hit enemies with the projectile while its decelerating to get the most damage. Unfurtunately the slow speed of the orb makes it ackward as fuck to use half the time. The Tunguska is genuinly bad right now, Its damage is sooo awful for a rocket launcher, especially a torgue, i think Gearbox forgot they even put it in the game tbh. Also the Tks Wave should not be a legendary although the Tidal Wave seems interesting i hope i get that eventually.
Infusion is not "not good" for elemental guns. It is only bad if you use a elemental gun with the same element of your action skill because this would override dots of your elemental gun what would result in a damage loss.
I would love when you would also show up your Relic and CoM when you are testing. Without it there are a lot of mportant informations missing. Also what is wrong with your Action skill Cooldown? Ties that bind normally has 18 sec. and now only 4 seconds how is this possible? I heard there are some glitches when it comes to Guradian Rank and Amara's Action skill Cooldown or Cooldown in general. Anyways this Cooldown is waaaay to fast and it seems super glitchy. Also it is not a good weapon show case at all, because ties that binds does pretty much 80% of the work. I don't think it is possible to get this cooldown with only passives on Relics and COM's so how is this possible? But the Western Gun looks pretty dope now especially on AMara. I will farm some now.
That com gives you like 250% cooldown from rush stacks and then there’s the cooldown from guardian ranks AND the guardian rank cooldown for having full shield. Add those together and it means you can forgoe cooldown on your gear in favour of another stat.
@@Derchlands Yeah I am testing it with my Amara. I have like 7 sec. Cooldown and I have passives on my Phasezerker and my Relic for Cooldown and 4/5 in Restless. But it is crazy that the Cooldown for you is even faster without having 25 Rush stacks on the Phasezerker. GR stats and "Tpped off" Perk are really effective on Cooldown I guess, I get less even with 25 Rush stacks most of the time just because I haven't spend Guardian Tokens so far.

I did the same, used a radiation one on my amara with infusion on, lasted at least 10 levels

Yeah she’s makes a lot of weapons feel very smooth. Her anointed weapons are crazy too. Up to 300 gun damage or 200 melee damage.

The radiation explosion looks like it is dealing damage multiplicatively across ties that bind. Every time someone blew up the whole group got nuked

Just look at the modifiers, +50 smg damage...+45 normal bullet; tested this gun, it’s only just ok and balanced.

That's just rng parts. You could get a critical hit prefix on a slowhand for bl2. While I would like them to fix it, it's not high on the list

The only gripe I have with the Westergun is the visual pollution... Hard to see what your aiming at😄. Other than that, it's just great, post buff.

This gun is really good Anointed with Zane. Additonal damage when you swap places with your clone. Also Traaaaaaauuunnnttttt
You should do these in non-mayhem tvhm, because the modifiers make it look better than it really is
I do all my main previews like that, sometimes I will min max a bit and have fun
Also while yeah the modifiers we're good enemies still had double health and over double sheilds, and did more damage.

What do they mean buffs don't matter? Every buff we can get is great! Also, I don't really understand the point of the radiation element.
It's strong on shields and neutral on flesh with some extra damage vs mobs of enemies. It works a bit better than shock most of the time.
Who said this gun was no good? It was always pretty solid, now even more so (Obviously).
next time better try it without +50% damage boost to SMGs from Mayhem 3 :)
I didn't re-roll modifiers but this is why I do my previews not on mayhem. People complain no matter what.
Elemental Resist was active anyway, so It wasn't creating too much of a damage difference
Hey Derch I hate to ask but I send you a DeadEye com with Jakob's Crit, Pistol and SMG damage passives. I thought I had my save file on read only but I didn't and now I don't have my copy anymore. Can you please send me the COM back. I can send you a copy back if you don't want to set your savefile on read only.
It was the perfect COM for my Jakob's Pistol Fl4k.

I’m not gonna be a prick and say this gun will get nerfed, but the drop rate for it is too high and likely will be nerfed eventually.
The ones you have are meh. If you want it best get a Binary(double damage) with 125 splash anointed also cryo and incindiery then you will see its true power.
