SeaMax light sport seaplane reminds me of another aircraft we featured few years ago. The Super Petrel amphibious biplane. If you recall, that airplane had a very similar design and just about every feature. Although I think the SeaMax has a better and more modern interior. SeaMax also is equipped with the Garmin avionics while the Petrel was equipped with Dynon.
Consider the SeaMax a STOL airplane too. This amphibious plane will take off and land within 500 feet. Also capable of landing on both land and water.
SeaMax also has some cool features, like a foldable tail, and the wings are removable. This makes for easier storage and towing.
Who is this aircraft for? well I think for the more relaxed pilot who wants to grab a bite here and there. It is a capable cross country aircraft as it will stay flying for 6 hours if you can take it. Also it uses a small Rotax 912 engine which powers you to 80-100 miles per hour in cruise.
SeaMax Specs:
Engine: Rotax 912
Speed: 115 mph
Useful load: 537 lbs
Range: 630 miles
Price: $170,000

I love seeing your passion for aviation.
Definitely may favourite available sea plane. The Airmax Seamax is an awesome flyer. It will land safely on water with the wheels down, so safer than most. Good to know the pricing, and that its wings can now be removed for transport.
Awesome review ! Thanks
Very Nice!
I enjoy watching your videos, they're informative. However I would like more information on flight deck rate of climb and flight distance.
Seaplane: The Nr 1 vehicle of freedom.
Love your vids Mike. Very concise and super informative. Thanks
Thank you Ssooo much for this review. Couldn't make it this year cause, I had Covid.
Oh yeah the highly over priced Icon's sweeter and more economical younger brother. Would like to have one someday, but still want to build a Sling TSI for a trip flyer then this for weekend fishing trips 😁
Surprised to see an Icon equiv this cheap...
Nice...cheers.
Nice
Yes, but can it turn into a submarine like in the new Bond movie?
Nice plane
Great Video Thanks,
Didn't Ventura come out with an
S-LSA (metal folding wing option) that has a little better mileage for quite a bit less ?
Or is this that much quieter in-flight ? It is pretty for 170-200+ .... it must have an additional luggage area for fishing poles... Lol
cool outro music!
@MojoGrip Do you know if AOPA would categorize the Sling 2 as an Experimental Aircraft or as a Light Sport? Reason I'M asking is because the down payment would be much less as an Experimental than as a LSA.
Greetings from Toronto 🇨🇦 😊
Interesting.
I have one for sale with some cool additional features that this one doesn’t have. Very fun plane and very usable - it’s not a toy at all.
Do they have a model with more useful load?
@@jacobmoore6874 Not that I’m aware of but that’s the nature of the LSA category.
hi I am interested i would like to know more
Where are you located?

Does it do a wheelie when you step out? It looked like the front wheel was floating.
On the back of a 56" sailboat ⛵️ 😎 👌 perfect
I'd take one over an overly priced Icon anyday of the week! Just don't like the center stick only feature.
I’ll buy it with the grs or brs parachute right now. I live in ormond beach and have a a ppl, fresh medical. I’ve called but maybe they were to busy to answer during COVID.
Mô hình phi cơ của bạn rất ấn tượng hay lắm cảm ơn chúc bạn sức khỏe và hạnh phúc.
Can this plane have a parachute line the A5?
Take that bird up!
Very nice . Love water operations 👌💦
Interesting seeing IFR avionics in light sports. From what I understand, LSAs are not allowed to be flown in IMC, and you probably wouldn’t want to if they were due to their light weight. I guess you could use it for IFR training though?
If I understand correctly, it's not that a light sport aircraft can't be flown in IMC, it's that a light sport pilot is not allowed to fly in IMC. So, when it comes to the fully equipped SeaMax, a light sport pilot can fly it, as long as they adhere to the restrictions of their license. An instrument rated private pilot can also fly it, and can fly it in IMC.
ELSA and properly equipped with a pilot holding an instrument rating is no problem. czcams.com/video/TTyXaTHuFPc/video.html
I fly the aircraft shown in this video. Because the Seamax ships from the factory as an SLSA it is not legally permitted to fly into imc, despite having all necessary equipment. However, someone theoretically could register one as an ELSA, which would make imc allowable.
How does one garmin instrument panel cost 34, 000 dollars?
Wow.
@@MrPaige222 LABOR
In fact this is also a brazilian design, desiged by engineer Miguel Rosario at Airmax in Brazil.
Wait the wheels retract wow
Miata of the sky
What about toroidal propellers?
It's not bad. The ultimate (before UFOs) would be a twin jet with high speed aero body yet able to land and take off from water as well. I think it's possible. Pretty cool to jet to alaska or north canada and set it down in a mountain lake where it's the only place to land.
Btw did you hear about the Rotax 916? supposedly a variant of 915 with 160 horse. You can only guess at how unreasonable the price will be but still interesting.
If you touch down in WATER, how can you call it LANDING?
Still, WATERING does sound pretty weird, though.
@@MrPaige222 it's just a word :)

Sigh
@@paigehunt3387 why are you sighing at me, girl? :) your last name is hunt. It's just a word, even if it lands on something that isn't land. The semantics is not that pedantic. Need a hug? :)
Very good This video is excellent.
The A5 has a parachute and a spin-sesistant airframe.
Not sure about the SeaMax though.
And the main reason that the icon went from 190 grand to 460is due to the lawsuits filed by the idiots (their own test engineer included) decided to show that even the best designed airplane can still be crashed.
That’s the roadster of sea planes
👍👍👍
Icon, they con. Forgot about that one til now. Also not a fan of the 'Fisher-Price' instruments in that con plane. So far, out of all I've looked at and flown I like the Super Petrel best. Maybe a real money maker the likes of the Twin Otter is at hand.
👍
I still prefer old school instruments with the added electronic screens. Just how I learned things growing up.
Hii Mike please cover Colyaer Freedom S100. its way cheaper than Seamax.
Which category is this plane: experimental or seaplane endorsement?
🌏🇦🇺
I am 6.6ft tall and would like to have a Sea Plane. But can I fit into this air plane?
With the cabin all closed up with no windows, do you just have to suffer with the heat in hotter locations or does this come with some kind of air conditioning or something?
I'm 6'3", do you think I would fit?
Yea
G5 battery actually lasts up to 4 hours, not 45 minutes.
The price of two new model S Teslas
He said partner! Hahaha “tolerance is not a virtue but rather a sin”.
May Mike make a video comparing the seamax and the super petrel?
Yes he shall
@@mojogrip 👏👏👏
EASY ...THERE IS NO COMPARISON OTHER THAN.... THEY DON'T COMPARE...LOL SUPER PETROL IS THE BEST BANG FOR ANY BUCK....!
Reminds me of the Republic Seabee.
☑️
🥺🥺🥺ngaze ngadlela bhudi I've always wanted to learn how to fly but I can't afford
Too bad, flying is not for everyone😭🤷♂️
It's IFR even! Things that make you go hmmm.
LOL ok I see why 12 people down voted it now, they are the same people who would call the FFA on Tucker Gott 9:35
The owner said from the factory the plane is listed as SLSA. Even with IFR available the plane cannot be flown into imc conditions. Changing the designation to Experimental would allow flying into imc, and assuming pilot has ppl plus instruments.
I also want to join aviation engineering
SeaRey
it should be dual control.
It has IFR avionics. 🤦♂️ I view this more as a fun toy that’s a significant step up over a jet-ski, not something that I would use for a long trip. I’m imagining sitting in that thing and hearing ATC give me my IFR clearance. “Expect FL250 10 minutes after departure…” 🤣
Somebody needs to bring back a design like the Republic RC-3.
MIKE WANTS
Give me a Repuplic Seabea over this for 75k maybe a little more.
Maintaining that 80 year old Seabee will not be cheap.
Yeah the icon is way too pricey
It is what it is it one of those that you can fly without a license
Sport pilot license required with retract gear and amphibious certification. No medical.
@@rogerbee697 You also need a boat licence.
@@nssherlock4547 That never occured to me. That's valuable info! Thanks
Stop calling it a plane. It’s an aeroplane, or aircraft. A plane is a level surface.
I wanted to love this plane but its so ugly when compared to the A5.
cmon, they are almost the same thing
Sorry I had to coment...Thing is with a G at the end of the word not the thin..it is also seatinG not seatin..
Actually, you didn’t have to comment. You chose to. So let me ask, do you routinely question the diction of non-native English speakers? If so, that’s pretty moronic.
What idiot would sell a plane without a brs parachute? It’s crazzzzzzzy to ignore the technology.
bro thats a 70k toy at best
When you charge 34 grand for one upgraded instrument panel, 15 grand for paint, 12 grand per seat, etc. It's easy to get up to 214k.
This is my comment
Now it's mine
