  • In this video, I will be touching on a topic that some people don’t realize is an issue. Oversharing on social media. Yes, SHARING on social media is the purpose of these platforms; BUT everything doesn’t need to be shared. I think people don’t realize it’s a PUBLIC format and we’ve got to maintain some degree of privacy in our lives. I hope this opens up eyes and creates discussions that result in positive change. Thanks for stopping by my channel!

    What you said is so true. It's so embarrassing when people publicly have on and off relationships because they really do seem dumb after they threw all this shade and talked all that sh!t online just to post a pic with them 2 days later. And they're the same type of people to post "Y'all don't know me, you know what I post" or "Y'all don't know my relationship."

      THANK YOU! It's really annoying when people put their relationship issues out there for public knowledge then get pissed when someone makes a comment they don't like. If they didn't want anyone to say anything, they should have kept it private.

    I've learned the very hard way of being too open, vulnerable, trusting, and naive posting private things out of hurt and desperation. I deleted social media for a while and now set all my new accounts to private only showing small glimpses of my life. I mostly post my favorite hobbies and favorite topics/discussions. Online forums are a lot of fun to learn and keep my identity private or anonymous.

    I agree there is too much sharing on sickness, illness and death. Some people do it got attention and it’s a form of eliciting sympathy often to garner sympathy. This in turn is used to manipulate people into doing favors, and giving money and gifts.

    So I’ve had Instagram for about 12 years and seeing all my peers and their walks of life as soon as we got out of high school and we all had our phases, social media trends and what not, the whole #mcm, #wcw, #nationalboyfriendday, etc. we were so new to this platform we posted the same stuff others would post about relationships, first jobs, subliminal quote posts about drama or your mental health. Everything you said is true and I wish we all saved ourselves the embarrassment. Because I’m only seeing more TMI as we are pushing in our 30’s. I blame influencers who show and talk way too much about relationships, sex, postpartum, their kids (my gosh I don’t need to see your kid every day on my feed!) even exposing their kids and their mistakes. That’s another thing I feel bad for the babies of today is having their whole life told on social media by their parents. And jealousy is a horrible thing, comparison is the thief of joy. And while we have our own walks and achievements in life, we don’t appreciate it as much because we want it to be or look like the ones we see from our peers and others on social media. We wish them well but sometimes that insecurity does build the jealousy and no one wants to be the bad guy wishing harm or failure onto the person whose content with their lives. It is good to keep certain accomplishments to yourself to protect those successes.

    • @chaurielle
      @chaurielle  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, us millennials were definitely the Guinea pigs and we didn’t know the long term effects. And influencers have set the standard of oversharing. And I agree people post their kids too much it’s annoying 😂. And children’s should have their childhood protected a little better. And yes, it’s very hard not to compare ourselves to each other! It naturally breeds jealousy and thank you for watching my video ❤️

    I love this video! EVERYTHING you said on here is so on point!!! Yes, I do know people who have photos of their loved ones in caskets. But to post them for anybody who's anybody to see is way too creepy! And when it comes to PDA (except for holding hands or a hug) that stuff should be kept behind closed doors.
    And sorry, peeps, but who truly cares about how wonderful your kids are and family moments in photos online? Unless of course, you're related to those people.

    My take on this is 50-50. It's too lengthy for me to explain but what I want to say is about freedom of expression, motives of posting, the psychology behind the urge, right audience, platform, etc. It is always that there are envious or tired people online but there are also people who likes seeing what others don't want to see or seeing the positive from the negative & vice-versa. One solution is to curate your friends or change platform that meets your needs. Though, I'm not saying that posting naked pictures is ok. I'm just talking about being fair to everyone.

    • @chaurielle
      @chaurielle  Před rokem

      I understand. Personally, 70% of the people I follow I actually like to see what they’re up to. But the way social media is set up, you’ll always see things you don’t want to see. This is because of what the algorithm sometimes suggests and also who you follow (they) share posts from people that you don’t follow, and those ppl can post things you don’t care to see.

    • @meahtoday
      @meahtoday Před rokem +1

      @@chaurielle Yeah. I used to be active in Facebook but lately, I deactivated one profile with relatives connected to it because some of them felt triggered with my posts when I don't mean to. I just want to raise awareness that something is wrong. that most people don't know. But people just like fun. They don't want real talk, psychology & making a change for good & if the audience are your relatives, they would overreact & in a dramatic way that isn't necessary. They think you are in the lowest point of your life & that you're being negative when you are not, just because they don't see you & hear your voice tone.
      I created a new Fb account because I need Messenger. but I quit posting on feed. I didn't add any relatives, only open to strangers & like-minded people. Didn't even disclose my gender, age & nationality because most people choose friends based on these & I don't like these kind of people. Then I created Fb pages where I can post my creativity without being seen as braggy & proud. I am also creating my own blog/website where I can be the king & can be real & can rant anytime I want with class & without being a headache to anyone uninvolved.
      Of course, CZcams is one of the best place for me to speak my mind like now. So much freedom here... 💙😊
