    If you look closely at some other videos of this Master, you can actually see the force, both in the way his opponents react and you can see it in the Master before he pushes. They are demonstrating the power of chi, not fighting. Therefore they are not "coming in hard" as criticized in comments below. They are not trying to land a punch on this old man, they are trying to learn from him. But I don't think most young men would be able to strike this man, whatever his age. You can see they could not get close enough. I'm glad they have this man on CZcams so this can be preserved for posterity. I'm sure there are very few who can ever hope to master his skill. I hope he has passed down his knowlege to some disciples.

      Yes he did pass on his wonderful skills, but more importantly his method. I did some intensive training with him back in the 1980's, and so did a number of others. You write with good understanding and intelligence about this so misunderstood art especially at Master Huang's level. The only other master from the C20 of Huang's level, maybe slightly higher due to starting at a much earlier age was Master Ma Yueh LIang.

    Taichi master Huang was demonstrating push hands in Taichi. In a duel if your opponent's hand/s touch the Taichi master, a soft power spontaneously came up to bounce the opponent away. When does this soft power come from? It comes from year after year of concentration on relaxation. When you are totally relaxed, your body can detect the weight and direction of force placed on you, then you can redirect the force and reverse the direction and send the attacker as far as the force he had exerted on you. Whether you sit down or stand up, the force is with you. This film id absolutely genuine. I have seen this done many times. Call it the soft power from relxaation and concentration which paradoxically become one!

    • @david1234lee
      @david1234lee Před 9 lety +2

      the force comes first from contact and then the master can "listen" or feel the force and redirect it. A friend of mine, a taichi teacher at San Diego, was allowed to hit the chest of a taichi master at West Lake, Hongchou, China. He was bonuced back a good 8 feet , fall and almost broke his arm.

    why is some foe blame of tai chi, but no one blame aikido. The chi is not big diffident then tai chi.
    in japan they call it ki, in china chi (but more allround)
    Like chi is all around, so like when you trow a ball to an other person, so if
    Tai Chi is fake you cant trow a simple ball if that was true.
    Well magic im sure real´y means manipulated energy and all know from d&d that energy comes from somewhere.
    in base understanding a pc is magic, course we control the energy by metal to do work for us.
    Reason why they back then called it magic is to be able to hunt witches more effect full.
    Just try say it: Manipulated energy she is a witch.
    compare to: Magic witch
    Magic is a alert word in the 1600s
    for that matter whit my 12 years i can prove that the power is true in tai chi.
    and for science foe tai chi is not a religion so about Taoisme.
    this different about Ateisme and Taoisme.
    Taoisme dont say there is or not a god and there will all ways be a reaction to what ever we do. Basic. so if these word is how you see it you might more Taoist then Ateist.

    • @kongkong1364
      @kongkong1364 Před 8 lety

      the reason why people don't call aikido bullshit is because aikido makes it into a science - you know exactly the how's and why's of locks and throws. sorry, there is no, or little chi/ki involved. when old masters like huang teach/taught locks, graps or throws, they seldom, if ever say: "if you lead the momentum/force this way, let him over extend then you divert the energy this way, it'll lock his joints, and you can then push him in that direction and he will have no way to resist, so he will fly like a rag doll." i think it's a disservice to tai chi to rely on myths and pseudo-science

    • @gepardmic6003
      @gepardmic6003 Před 8 lety +1

      Kong Kong 12 years knowledge i know that tai chi and aikido are 90% alike. Chi is not magic as you foe think, its simply the same Energy as Gung Fu soft form, the tai chi energy when master it are just more low hz shock wave you start from contact of the hand in some case, there make the person lose ground to he cant balance and there by fall back. Even as non grand master like him, i can do things abit like him.
      Wee kee jin are one living grand master and he is great i have learn gong fu stand, and learned to ground that stuff do not help you a lot vs his chi.
      Chi are Chinese word = Energy, and shall not be compared by Wizard thoughts.
      Science are not all there is course how can we then still find stuff we dont know about? i see science nerds there blame stuff more like the holy crusaders wars all over, stamping foe down if other dont thing the same.
      Tai chi, gong fu and so on are not religious, they found out natures effect when move your body right. More simple can not be sayed.

      You are only Fit to book dudes nothing els, world do not fit in to book, quantum physic will tell you that. you can only say where a ball can fall when trow but never tell 100% where it landing.

    • @kongkong1364
      @kongkong1364 Před 8 lety

      perhaps you are right. and that ten percent difference make aikido a more respected form of martial art. your chi/soft form/energy, is still mumbo jumbo magic. until chinese martial arts, including tai chi, drop this mumbo jumbo, it'll never be able to catch up with more mainstream martial arts. it is still a fact (sad?) that todays tai chi is not represented in the modern major sporting martial art arenas. don't bs me and say real masters don't do that, because master huang was famous for his match with a wrestler in singapore. ip man was so famous exactly because he was able to stand up to challenges from other masters

Physical , in-your--face exertions by others,will test where you say you are; it's an excellent form of biofeedback training. If you get a smack in the chops, YOU are at fault_usually because you are too full of yourself to actually pay attention to the now moment in front of you. You are completely wrong my friend this is only a seminar where the late grand master Huang Sheng Shiang is showing to his student different ways of issuing chi. Of course Tai Ji is not only fighting it is an art that can be used in everything, it's up to you! Today not many are studying the real martial aspects otherwise it would be called Tai Chi Chuang. It is the method that is martial but the scope is not to be able to push the people around...

    • @pw6titanium
      @pw6titanium Před 8 lety +1

      simeon simeonov the outcome of taiji training is to demonstrate physically that you understand the concepts. Understanding is when you can put awareness into action. The GM was demonstrating the students relative lack of skill in understanding_this is what push hands is for.When you have more self-awareness and know others but they don't know you , you have just demonstrated your
      greater ability. As for the metaphysical side of it; if you can't get the physical part down , how will you progress to the shen part? You would be putting the cart before the horse.You have to learn to invest in loss at every level of taijiquan development. There is no getting away from lots of hard, hard slog. The spiritual side of it is perfected in the crucible of the physical.Never mind the metaphysics, that will always be there when the time is right. Too much talking, not enough practicing.

"Competitors" in that sense have some sense of security being in a controlled environment. I believe that's removed from Mizner's view of practical taiji, and, having spoken directly to at least one of his top students on this subject, you'd find they have 'real life' experience in terms of martial conflict. I can only agree, as a generality, you can't really discern ability from You Tube vids, but that is true for all arts not just Taiji.
