    I was hesitating between the roland TD11K and the yamaha DTX532k and finally I went for the yamaha drumset because it has a moving hi hat (more realistic feel), I found the roland snare too bouncy (like a trampoline), the yamaha snare seems more realistic to me, and I got a bundle on sam ash including the complete drumset + throne and kickpedal for 990 USD. Overall I am super satisfied with my purchase.

      hi i am decided from same reason... yamaha has better price and offer you hihat stand plus real feel hihat including pcy135 cymbals what looks great morethan cy8 in roland td11..... but unfortunately my dtx502 module broke down with aux in connector and the sound of mp3 is mixed with like resonance and reverb so iam dissapointed... in this case but kit looks great for 949 Euro.

    I got the TD11KV-SE, which has all the hardware of the TD25KV (bigger rack, VH-11, extra cymbal, PDX100 snare), and I find it's pretty bloody fantastic, really. It's takes some time in the settings, but I've been able to customise the sounds to get to something that sounds really good, and has been blowing people away at gigs with the sound quality

    I bought a second hand TD11KV around two months ago, it was around two years old and only used in the home. I use in our band room it is great and I can now control the drum sound level very easily, with my acoustic set it was an issue. I still have my old TD6 at home which I still practice with on occasions. The TD11KV pad sizes were an issue but I am getting used to them and they feel more like an acoustic set. You are right about the HiHat Justin it would be better with the VH11, I am also considering swapping the snare pad for a PDX100. The fact that is due for an update is not an issue for me as we really only play 60’s to 80’s music, so I only need acoustic kits and I now can configure the User Kits how I want but that's not to say I wouldn't upgrade if I had the spare cash, I am a 71 year old drummer, started at 16 years old stopped at 20 years old (big mistake) but happily started again at 52 years old, so the portability of the edrums was a big factor and I love them. Keep up the good work Justin, I love to watch you young drummers you are all full of good information dedication and enthusiasm, I wish the internet had been available when I was starting out.

    I own the Roland td-11k drum set with an additional crash cymbal and I personally love it. The sounds out of the box aren't great but with some little adjustments, you can make this drum set sound pretty good. The rubber tom pads are my only real gripe about this kit but they are honestly not that bad, plus you can always find used mesh tom pads that will probably be a cheaper option then buying the td-11kv. But if you have enough money for a td-25k or td-25kv, I would personally go for those drum sets because of the better module and sounds. I still recommend the td-11k, but the smarter option now would probably be to wait and see what Roland has in store for us in the future.

  • @Vdrumtips1
    @Vdrumtips1 Před 7 lety +17

    600$ difference... unjustified. I would buy the K version, sell the 2x CY-8 cymbals for 100$ and buy a CY-12C (100$) and a CY-13 (120$) used on ebay. For the pads I would get rid of the 3x PD-8 (80$) and buy 2 used PDX-100 (100$ each) and one used PDX-8 (80$). This way I would have a better version of the TD-11KV with 10" snare, 10" floor and 2x 8" rack for the price of a TD-11K + 320$.

    Hi! I have owned a TD11KV for about 3 years and i still like it, it does have good quality as it's still in good condition after 3 years of pretty intense playing and some hard hitting( If i play any Rock or Metal), the sounds is for me pretty decent but thats after alot of editing but it's only like one or two good kit sounds, other kits like some Jazz kits etc just sounds like crap if you ask me. I Love the cymbals as they have good feel and like the 3 zone ride and the mesh toms, a few years ago when i bought it i think it was worth buying it(eventhough it was overprized back then to) but now would not recomend buying it new. The reason i have this kit and won't upgrade is because i moslty use it for practice and some playing just for fun but i would never want to use it live, the other reason is that im studying at a music high school and they have the TD30 and many great aucostic kits wich i can play. So a short summary: It is a pretty decent drum kit but it is very overprized and i would not say it's worth buying the 11kv new today but if you find a used for a good deal i could recomend it:) This comes from a drummer with 7 years experience boht live and studio experienced and have owned and played Both aucostic and digital
    Btw i Love you videos Justin! They are very well made and informative, greetings from Sweden!:)

    I actually own the TD11KV and I have to say - I'm very pleased for the purpose I bought it for. I have it connected to my PC and have a VST for the sounds, so all I need the drum module for is the USB plug. I got it for the mesh heads, 3 zone ride, quality cymbals overall and the easy option of having e-drum spliters and connect a few more cymbals off the tom rims so I can mimic my actual acoustic drum set. If I have to be honest - this is the best compact drum set out there. For someone that doesn't look at a price tag as the driving factor and can afford to spend the extra money and needs the compact size to practice - it's great. You mentioned your distaste with the 8" toms' playing surface, but I have to be honest - you need to hit the center of the thing after all. Let's be honest - if you want good drum sounds, the TD30 level is the bare minimum where you can actually enjoy the thing without VST.

    I bought my TD-11k at a big discount as it was a floor model and they wanted to move it to make way for the newer TD-17.
    Not a fan of the rubber pads from the outset so I replaced them with mesh pads.
    I have also replaced the ride cymbal with a CY-12.
    Because of the discounted price of the kit and the fact that I upgraded with slightly used pads, I have been able to tailor my kit to my liking.
    Would not have been possible if I bought the more expensive KV kit.

    I have the TD-11kv and happy about it. Its quiet and small in size, perfect for me. I'm using it for practis and live.......yes live :). Added on a extra crash and a PDX-100 as snare drum....works great. Using Vexpression sync kit in my TD11 module, in my ears it works greate trough the PA system.....the rest of the band is happy to:). Have to say that i'm not a super drummer, never played on a good acoustic drum set....so how a snare drum or, tom or a kick really should sound, I cant say. But I think most of the people we play for can't tell the difference either....I hope:). The feedback I get from people is positive.
    So it works for me, but maybe not for a "real" drummer :).

    The pdx-8 snare pad. If you hit that plastic rim you get a loud thwack . Being a not very good drummer it happened to me a lot so I sold it and put in a 14inch acoustic snare converted with a mesh head and a Roland RT10 clip on trigger.

    I have the TD11KV and really like it. I was able to talk a local shop into selling it to me for $1200 - at that price it was easy to go with this one over the TD11K. I agree that most of the onboard sounds are a bit dated - I mostly use VST's, but will use a couple of the built in kits on occasion. For $1600, I think this kit would need to include the hi-hat and possibly a second crash or floor tom.

    Don't discount your TD-11 module until you have tried the VEX kits for it. I bought a TD-11 kit from a local church a couple of months ago. It is not any of the ones mentioned in the review. I believe it was based on a TD-9SX, but with a TD-11 module and a PD-120 snare -- so I am very satisfied with the hardware. After a few weeks of playing, however, I was already looking for a replacement module. I tried a lot of tweaking, but still couldn't get things to my satisfaction. As a last ditch effort, I bought the VEX Masters 50 Artist kits. I thought I could find at least a few that I would like. As it turns out, I'm having trouble trying to find ones to get rid of to make room. The Mike Portnoy kit is my favorite right now and it sounds AMAZING!!

    Good review as per wait and see for the current 2nd hand/next generation. I'd still go for the KV over the base 11, having had mine for over two years imho the consistency of tensionable, mesh-to-mesh sticking means one less and major distraction of not playing a similar acoustic kit. Another bonus is if you want to use the 11KV's module and small, mesh tom to work as a hybrid add-on for clave/cowbell/ clap effect they can easily be accommodated on a mesh head and rim dual selection; whereas you'd need two, big bouncy pads of the plain 11 tom.
    For recording, the other minor additional cost of an exclusive Roland wi-fi only dongle or MIDI/iRig adapter may also sway your choice for or against others in-brand or from Yamaha etc

    I've got the TD11K as a practise set to muck around on for my first drum set. It's serving me very well and I beat it up with hard Rock music, it doesn't even miss a beat. The kids out of the box aren't good, you'll only want to make your own custom kits to use. The lack of a bell sucks though and honestly you would be better off getting the KV if you had to or ideally, save up for the TD25 (what I'm currently doing) or Alesis Strike. The rubber pads aren't that bad to play either for the toms, they are very loud though when stuck. The snare mount needs to also be addressed by Roland, when hitting the snare it gradually moves down over time and you have to adjust it back up.
    It has it's flaws but all in all a great beginner drum set to learn to play on then upgrade later.

    Hey dude just found your CZcams channel recently... the TD11kv is the set I have but I am not a drummer, I am a guitar player I mainly bought it because our PA system from Line 6 "the dream stage " it will record without a computer and does a pretty good job of it. I think electronic drums sound way better through PA system and also you don't have to worry about whether your drummer knows how to tune drums and they always sound perfect to me I guess it's kind of like if I asked you if you could hear a difference between a tube amp and a modeler... lol
    I think it's a much better deal maybe not $600 worth but duel trigger pads and chokes on cymbals also now they've lowered the price $200 right before Christmas. Got my Kv set for $1000 off of craigslist 2yrs ago and they were only a-year-old.
    You were talking about misconception for electronic drums on another video and I definitely agree with you. I would much rather play my guitar in front of electronic drums at church instead of acoustic ones even a Shield is not enough to control the (been there done that), you definitely need a booth and a well insulated one and Mic's which then brings the price range of those acoustic drums way away from the electronic ones for a church of our size and budget.
    What do you think of the TD15?

    Hello,
    I have been watching your channel for a bit and I really enjoy it! I have the TD-11K and think its great! You said that the sounds were passable for 2012? I do disagree with that. I think the set still sounds great today. You can also edit the sounds on each kit. Its also a great practice kit! I am wondering if I did want to update the kit should I just get a new brain for it? Im honestly not sure. I do think people give e kits a bad rep. I think they are great!

    A bit confusing...the "best for $1200-$1500" video mentions the TD-11K sounds the best out of the competition. The DTX532K is only $100 bucks more now, but it was part of that list. It's also ~5 years old at this point. I guess now is an awkward time to buy as a newbie. I don't see a reason to wait though as I don't see them making any significant improvements. Plus, the 11K is down to $899 new now. I don't see a reason to buy a sub $500 kit and get an inferior experience and just end up upgrading within a few months and I can't justify $2.5k on a hobby I don't know if I'll completely stick with so...11K it is I guess!

    Hi Justin! In several of your videos you mention that a module is/sounds dated or is at the end of its life span. What exactly do you mean by this? Is it that the technology is outdated and won't be compatible with newer stuff or is it that it sounds like something out of the 80s or 90s? Maybe you could do a quick video about this.

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  Před 7 lety +2

      All I mean when I say a drumset is dated: I'm just saying a drumset doesn't sound as good as new drumsets and/or the pads aren't as good as other drumsets that are newer and of the same price.

Or should i go with a roland td11k or wether i should upgrade to the kv for the all mesh drums or the roland td4sx missing one rack tom and with a snare stand for 800$ used on guitar center and btw the roland and yamaha kits im looking at are all used so there under 1000$ thx so much bro if u awnser it helps so much ive been watching ur channel since i got into E drumming over a year ago ive learned and grown so much as a drummer overall thx
