It's always sad to see that people slip through the cracks in society, and as you correctly pointed out, Thai culture and society help these poor soles along.

Yes it is, Steve especially for those not there due to drug and alcohol abuse.

With the amount of revenue governments receive from tax payers and many many other sources, , It's hard to believe that this is so wide spread it's it Ray? If a small fraction of the money spent on Military pursuits by most countries were redirected per annum. the problem would be "all but solved". It's not gunna happen!

Bill I don't know the numbers. I see them every day in little ole Chiang Rai, but I believe the highest percentage live in Bangkok, Chon Buri and Chiang Mai.

Wow Ray, I'm so behind on my viewing of your channel and this is the BKK or Any part of Thailand that never really gets covered at least on here. There are new homeless in the streets where I live in the San Francisco Bay area and less than 2 miles from where I live. Sometimes I buy them fast food thats better than nothing or give them cash and I tell them I don't care what they spend it on. These are people who are old like me but not always. I often think how did it come to this? They were once, infants, toddlers,......somebody raised them. When I lived BKK the mafia beggar mothers, ( and they don't get to keep much of whatever they bring in ) with their rented babies,...they must be drugged cuz they are always asleep never looked very hungry or desperate but I did see a girl about 6 or 7 one night and she begged and I can't remember now but I said in Thai, ..".go home, go to sleep, and go to school",...she said, F^*C YOU! and than gave me an ear to ear grin that I can never forget. It was sorta adorable actually. I only gave coins to the blind. Great job on this subject Ray.

Thanks for that glowing comment, Graham. I suspect but am not certain, that a big difference between here and the USA, is that the majority of homelessness in the USA is drug related, whereas, again I suspect, that the majority of homelessness here is no money and no family.

@@AllAboutLifeInThailand Thx Ray :-) No doubt drug use is a significant numherfor the homeless here in the US but just as significant is the mentally.ill and the actual working homeless who have jobs but dont have enough to pay rent so they live in their cars...or the streets. California spends billions of dollars annually and it just proliferates but this Vlog was about Thailand and I sincerely feel for the Thai people iliving this way. Once again, excellent Vlog

@@grahamreid2132 Of course, I forgot about all the mentally ill who were basically abandoned, as I recall, but I never knew anything about working homeless. Thanks for telling me.
