Excellent instructional video with the fence there… But for the love of God, I got about five people in this house worried to death about Tim. LOL. Let’s get back to the story!

I think I’ll go look for an electric battery powered side cutter tomorrow. Thanks! I’ve wanted one for years. Now you’ve finally showed me the ultimate reason I need to act now!
I've kept a bolt cutter in my BOB for over a decade now, along with a Stanley pry bar tool. You never know what you may need to get into or through when you need something. The bag has basically been the same for10 years, and still comes in at under 25lbs.
@@jessicacanfield5408 You can make them. Find two lengths of pipe which will slip over the handles of the pliers/cutters. The extra length of handle will give you a mechanical advantage.
My old fence plyers do a better job on heavier gauge materials than the new ones. Odd that they are in my car toolbox and I just take them for granted... Thanks for the reminder !! Look forward to more insights and reminders !
My brother and I built a shelter in the woods on a friends property (with his permission) and he does not know where it is because we are keeping it a secret, anyway we found an old fence that was in our way. We decided that it would be easier to remove it, rather than to go around it. We figured out a neat way to take down the fence without and tools other than our hand and it took less than 5 minutes. I know that al fences are different so we still have a good pair of Knipex bolt cutters. I love them they are small, light and get the job done.
Hey Southern Prepper1 ,CT Here. Thank you so much for your educational videos. My family and I have been prepping for about a yr now . If you cut one vertical chain link zig zag wire top and bottom, it will unwind like a corkscrew, it can also be wound back in to cover your tracks. The grinder would be the fastest option.
The Fencing Tool for barbed wire installation is a handy tool to carry out in the boonies. It can work as a hammer too. The 'hook' on the other side is for pulling the 'staples' or U nails holding the barbed wire to the wood posts. .... Good to see, the Fencing Tool will also cut through the light duty Chain Link Fence, SoutherPrepper1 had a available for the demonstration. ........ A pair of cheater bars will work to increase leverage, as recommended by SP1. I carry just ONE cheater bar in my car to slip over the end of the Lug Nut Wrench. It's actually from a 'porch swing' ~ The metal to support the swing must be extra strong. I've used the cheater bar to help remove recalcitrant lug nuts. The pipe from a porch swing is lighter than a house pipe. [Of course, SP1 came up with his video years after, I threw away the rest of the swing frame. ~ dang it!] The cheater bar can also be used to give an aggressive dog a Whack too.
Nothing sinister there. It's to keep debris from crossing the median. All those crumple zones, plastic body panels and spoilers will cross a 40' median, and when someone finds one at 75mph, their day just went to suck and there are now two MVAs. And if you're lucky, yes, it will catch a vehicle so they don't cross, but also catch them more gently that traditional guard rails will.
Excellent! Tying in the scenario videos with these type videos. I like the battery operated grinder because you can have such an assortment of tools to cover so many situations, plus you can get the lights and have plenty of lights for night time.
I'll tell you a secret about chain link fencing. Look up at the top where 2 wires are twisted together and at the same 2 at bottom cut up there and at bottom twist 1 wire out like a screw and the fence will open up like a pair of metal curtains. chain link is best because you can add pieces together just by using a piece too basically screw them together in reverse and you rarely have waste this away. Try it live you'll be surprised. Just talk to someone who builds tennis courts. They need to lengthen and shorten court fences a lot to get them tight.
I have used the Leatherman to go through fencing after an accident and extraction. It sucked. but with extra force it worked. If you have a rescue rig, bring big tools.
I carry: Gerber military multitool with replaceable carbide cutting blades and a USMC WW2 M1938 Large Head Wire Cutter Great video!! It would have been fun to see the overly heavy M9 bayonet & scabbard wire cutting mode.
You should make a video about the difference between country folks an city folks because the city folks they need all the help they can get to survive......
You remind me of "SFC. Zeke Anderson" from the TV show, "Tour of Duty". Great show and a great character, though I loved them all! The only thing I think might have put the icing on the cake in this video would've been a final verdict on the bare minimum you could or should attempt to get by with, if you don't get to keep your car.
I have been carrying The fencing pliers in my GHB since the 1990's. I call it the 'Big Brother ' to my Leatherman multitool. I have a hacksaw blade for my Leatherman. It would be slower than the bolt cutters but it will get the job done BTW the Leatherman Wave uses standard jigsaw blades.
If you find a place in the fence that has reduced tension on the wire you can untwist the very bottom of a vertical wire then go to the top and just untwist that vertical wire and the fence will separate. No cutting needed, just a set of plyers to uncurl the very bottom.
It is also neat to hook a log chain, and drive away in yer 4 wheel drive😁 really effective too. Always keep a log chain handy...with big and small hooks. Worth more than gold, when you need it😁
Pretty sure if you cut the ends where the wires are twisted, the fence wire will just pull straight out the top. It should separate and open wide enough to drive through. Don't ask how I know this. lol I used to work at a chain link fence company. The wires just lace together.
DeWalt makes a battery operated chainsaw? Nice! The angle grinder is probably the best option, unless you're trying to be stealthy. The Graff black Diamond blade for metal, will outlast 80 abrasive disks. It throws less sparks, but a little slower than the abrasive disk. I recently seen a chainsaw disk for an angle grinder. Not sure what it could be used for, except cutting small tree branches. Just thought I'd mention it.

Keeping a breach pen or two in you BOB is a good idea. They burn very hot and if you need to get through or out of something they’re very handy. A bit pricy but worth it IMO.
Battery-powered tools have opened a whole new world of possibilities they are very quick, very quiet and well worth having. There are some ethical considerations about cutting fences, should you just cut it and go your own way or should you make an attempt to make it a functional fence again? I would carry at least a a small coil of heavier galvanized wire to repair fences after you've gone through them. There is also a question of operational security do you want to leave a trail for people to follow you probably not. Don't let somebody else's Homestead animals go free, get stolen or run over by the crazy traffic. Hope that other people will have the same courtesy towards your property.
I use hoof nippers a lot. They cut field fence with minimal effort, heavy duty chain link with some effort, but would probably be a poor choice for the cable; would take way too long.
Just tried it and they will go through, it's pretty rough on them and your fingers though. Not sure they'd last cutting vertically through an entire 6 foot fence. In my area the blockers on the side of the road I would want to bypass aren't chainlink anyway, they're oil rig roads with round tubestock gates chained closed. I figure they would make a great place to spend the night if you needed to, usually out of the way with a lot of tree cover. Just have to cut the chain and then relock it with your own lock after you pass through. Makes it tough for anyone to sneak in on you since you either need a big set of bolt cutters, a cutoff wheel, or a torch to get a vehicle through.
One thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn't cut a fence unless absolutely necessary to save life etc.even in an SHTF scenario. Cutting a fence is a very effective way to turn a potential friendly into someone who see's you as a threat and will act accordingly.
Good video and comparison of different tools. In my vehicle I have the necessary tools for almost any job but only carry the wave in my get home bag.
The wave will work under the right conditions. With the cutter, no, I have a notch in the cutter of my first Supertool from trying. The new carbide ones had the same issue. You have to use the heavy wire notch at the back of the head. So while possible, you have to get your tool thorugh the hole in the fence and back it up, remembering that if you fumble it, it's going to be on the otherside. On the other hand, throwing a decent pair of diagonal cutters is better, or a pair of fencing pliars. Or a small pair of bolt cutters that will also take on most chains.
