I grew up in Iran. 4 years after revolution i graduated from high school and applied to take the university admission test (a mandatory test) and received a letter back that I was denied to take the test and further any admission to any universities because I belonged to a religious minority. I knew I would be denied but I applied anyway. Years later I left Iran and came to US and continued my education and got my Bachelors and master degree. I’m so proud of Iranian women to fight for their freedom and their rights. Please support them by spreading the word through social media. They need to be heard around the world. I hope you can one day visit Iran to see how wonderful the people of Iran are. They’re kind, friendly and the new generation are super smart.

I was forced to live a lie, my religion was a lie, my sexuality was a lie, my family was a lie. I'm tired of being P.C about it, Islamisation is going to be the biggest evil in the coming decades and we need to be prepared from NOW before it is too late.

Thats not what happened in east germany (more like a unspecified promise in a tv speach after weeks of protests that lead do the opening of the wall (that clearly showed the government the amount of resentment for the regime, forcing them to make reforms...))
that requires some degree of confusion over government policy on the part of police chiefs. compared to Iran's 'morality police' and other paramilitary units the former GDR authorities were a beacon of empathy

It was a pure miracle that Jon Stewart found someone capable of replacing him. Look at how many times they’ve tried to redo the Colbert Report and failed. The odds of finding someone again to fill the shoes of the daily show are pretty slim.
I hope he starts his own podcasts or a weekly show like John Oliver's which is less taxing than the dailyshow.

I scrolled all the way down to find someone else who also appreciated it. As an exiled Floridian I can tell you that many neighborhoods in Florida are home (or former homes) to Alligators, snakes, mosquitos, possums, and other "pests". Realtors always neglect to mention that when you build in the swamps, these things are part of the neighborhood.

Those women and girls in Iran are so brave, I myself know I wouldn't have the courage to do something like their movement. It's amazing that they're coming together to fight against a government thatcontinuously oppresses them. I really pray for the change they want
