In this video however, we find that there are EVEN MORE nations in Victoria 3, although these are completely hidden from view. Some are historical while others are alternative and others still possible in the future!
Join me as we check out the best hidden and secret countries in Victoria 3, and why they might be awesome to try out! Personally, it made me so happy to see Venice make an awesome return.

Is THIS the next Paradox game?! czcams.com/video/GJNiPxLDeuE/video.html
Didn't even mention Deseret. Can't believe you didn't know about the best (and only) Mormon Theocracy to exist.
Their flag is cool too
Been playing Deseret since launch and the challenge is intense
I've been playing as Texas, I completely forgot about deseret. So many crazy ways the United States could have gone, also at the time the US fully intend to annex Canada into the United States once England was Board playing with it, but that ever happened and the UK held onto it to this day, (technically)
Jan Mayen is the best releasable country imo.
Especially when governed by Karl Marx himself
@@turnmeonaliveman bears need their clothes and Jan Mayen got em :3
I just found another but this one is actually in the game, and it comes with a beautiful red color: The Roman Republic, reform the papacy into a Republic and you get it and a very satisfying red color.
I think a part 2 for this would be amazing! Could be a cool series idea too since there are so many releasable nations.
Would love a sequel
Babylonia exists in the files as a localized tag but not as a formable itself.
damn interesting!
@@AndysTake I think that it's leftover code from some copy and pasting early in development, but if you want a secret nation that is a Schrodinger's cat of it might exist in the future or it might be removed we just won't know until they update the game.
@@fredrickvonstien861 Relic from Imperator maybe
@@Pigraider268 More like a relic from Victoria 2, it was formable there by westernized Iraq in any borders, though considering Paradox went into political corectness and westernization is not a thing I have no idea how it would work
I've seen some playthroughs with released Poland from Russia. Start from looks of it is rough (starting as 58th nation), but access to things like coal allows one to quickly build up an economy. And well, rebuilding Poland as yet again powerful European nation is a fun concept by itself.
I live in Oregon USA currently. So I wanted to play as British Columbia since Oregon is a part of it here and historically but I didn't want to be part of GB. I started as GB, granted independence to British Columbia then switched to British Columbia. I was blown away to find that the country name changed to Oregon. Complete with the beaver flag and all. It was most definitely not the easiest start. Around 30,000 pop and like a logging camp, and that was it.
I wish there was a way to pick certain subject nations form the get go and try and rebel instead of just being given independence which feels a little cheap
Im sure you could use commands for a similar experience. Or release and declare on the country then switch over to make it an independence war
If you're a subject nation I can tell you that you will have to fight for your independence
Just do it the other way - release yourself as a subject, then fight for independence
That’s awesome how they did this and ramps replayability even higher, great video 🤘
Thank you, Punggles! :D it’s awesome indeed!
Replayability? xD You play every country the same way xD
What's funny to me is that New Afrika uses the Pan-African tricolor made by Marcus Garvey, who was born 50 years after game start.
well you can also create byzantium, but that thing fell 400 years before game start
@@AndysTake Point taken
Well New Afrika was first proposed by Malcom X in the 1960s so….
First thing I did was play as Venice, soon the average Venetian peasant enjoyed a better lifestyle than Russian aristocrats
Accurate considering how lavish Venice is.
Doing a game where everything is released could be so much fun
Assyria looks interesting
So happy about New Africa.
Liberia was the only country in vic2 with African Americans as main pop, so I was always trying to colonize Florida as Liberia
yeah it's a really cool faction!
New Africa was in vic2 to
@@vipersuit2652 only in mods
@@friendlyneighbourhoodanarc3039 the soyreddit mod known as gfm where they also removed the best mechanic
Is new africa historicly speaking a thing? never heard of it
andalucia having a core in extremadura and being a releasable at all in the 19th century is pretty horrible, same deal with catalonia having a core in murcia
I didn't expect to see Assyria
I have fun with this, i start a new game, release all nations, puppets and such. Make all available regions free at start, play on highest AI agressivness. I usally play as Scania, formed from releasing in sweden. Its fun to see a "shattred" world, and how it develops. Its nice they added so you can switch between nations.
Born and raised in Michigan and love that its actually a playable nation. Will do a playthrough if it after I finally get my Transvaal one done.
Thank you for the information friend
My pleasure, mate :)

@@aussie_skeleton Hey my pleasure, friend, I hope you have a great day as well, and that you’ll stick around for more! :D
@@AndysTake I will
A new game to spend our time to relax.
They all make sense except for New Africa which is possibly the stupidest thing I have ever seen in a Paradox game.
Wow someone discovered the release and play as function. Revolutionary
Lanfang is kind of fun. Its a Chinese democracy in Malaya so it has a ton of resources + access to the Qing market, which usually stays 1-2 biggest economy in the world
Restore PLC? I'm buying this game!
I love the hidden national titles based on governments. Papal States unifying Italy? Kingdom of Heaven. Monarchist America? United Sovereign Archduchies. Gotta get those flavor wins too!
What a cool surprise! Thanks for pointing this out. It gives the game so much more variety. Good job!
Thank you, I totally agree!
Wow they have Iroquois(Haudenosaunee). I also saw releaseable Mayans in AlzaboHD's mormon video.
My first play through was as new africa
Hei Andy takk for videoen veldig informativ😀
Gleden er på min side, Malactica! :D hyggelig at du likte den!
I saw Assyria on the list it could make for some interesting games later
Absolutely!
Dai Nam is pretty op in SEA region
This is cool can’t wait to get the game
Right?! :D
I sadly can only play it on low graphic settings
@@theranredguardist1949 yeah it’s quite demanding honestly!
A real shame it's not possible to release Victoria at game start (given, you know, the name of the game)!
(Perhaps it's possible later as it didn't become a crown colony, independent from NSW, until 1851.)
Almost all if this was formable even in Victoria 1. How's that even hidden or secret.
But props to Paradox for including Assyria and Kurdistan, nice move.
I love New Africa. Definitely a cool nod
Really awesome to see so many hidden nations. This game has so much RP potential.
Absolutely!
Holy shit, New Africa?
Wtf man you mention you can release Andalucía and not Navarre
You can do that in Vic2
Partitioned Poland: Am I a joke to you?
Well, probably because it is partitioned between prussia, austria and russia instead of just a part of a single nation.
@@alexandererhard2516 wouldn't that make it the most secret of all nations? You have the Krakow free state and can release Poland from all three but never all at once.
I’d be interested to see if you could play as the Comanche who were a powerhouse during this time
It would be interesting to see in V3 can represent their style of mobile warfare… if the smallest military unit is a battalion, what would the Comanche field from their population of between 7-30k…
@@scott2452 Good point! Also, there would have to be a financial incentive to go to war instead of territorial gain, gaining a large amount of money from small engagements would represent Comanche raids for horses.
You can. You can even play as Tawantinsuyu (Incas), Haudenoese (Iroqois) and country called Council of Three Fires
@@Pigraider268 The council of the Three Fires are from the area of the US I'm from, hell yes! The "Iron Confederacy" are another group that also have a cool name
would it be best to break up all of austria first and thne hit play as on th one you want last? I havent played yet but il trry a small country first, a free ireland prob
lol you did just that like 2 minutes later
Haha have fun!
now when i search victoria secret to see model, it comes to this clip hahaha
Hahaha!
i didint know u could release kurdistan, thats so cool
My first playthrough was releasing Ukraine, it was really fun!
A cool nation to play - although not secret - is Sokoto! I'm having a real fun time with that one right now.
Where is Sokoto located? :)
@@AndysTake Western Africa!
Bro discovered releasables for the first time. 😂
I think we're all wondering one thing... where's my newsletter Zeppelin??
Release Grand Duchy of Finaland! Protestant Peasants rise up! Lol Cudgel War 2.0
Bohemia is a cool choice, they were fun in both CK3 and EU4.
Yes, Bohemia is awesome! Although I might do a Venice play first…
Can you do the same with Bosnia and play as the state?
Didn't even mention reforming the Byzantine Empire as Greece? Lol smh
That’s a formable nation, this video was about releasable nations lol smh
You forgot the hardest one to play, Israel. If you play it right from when you can open it as independent country, you would lose very quick.
I am playing Armenia right now. Unfortunately I didn't develop it as Russia so I had such a rocky start and had to rely on the turkish of all people to get Azerbaijan and Iğdir and later Georgia. I'm now a Spanish protectorate so that I could escape the Ottomans and prepare the campaign for Western Armenia. Although my industry is still shoddy, mostly because I ran out of pops
cool video
6:30 Huh. I would have thought if slavery was allowed, and only one culture was enfranchised, it would necessarily be the disenfranchised cultures that got made into slaves, so I was expecting it to be a role-reversal on the Dixie Pops.
think this is supposed to be a case of the player getting control and supposed to start whit abolishing slavery.
just because a black president is choicen for the nation it does not mean that slavery is instantly abolish and if its is it need to be abolish in practis and not just in a public statement.
Clickbaiters can go to hell.
Poland!
none of them are really hidden
Anyone know how to create India out of the British Raj/East India Company and not through conquest from the Princely States or other Kingdoms nearby??
scripted event Sepoy Rebellion
You mentioned the Baltic countries but didn't mention Finland?
Finland is already a nation you can play, same as Norway, no need to release them
@@AndysTake ahh, good point. Though I considered Finland as hidden as well as it was under same color and needed to know where to click to pick it yet no need to release it. In such sense. Still need to fight for indepence though.
Didn't expect the developers to include all territories with historically significant Ukrainian population in the game as part of the releasable nation.
They remember that but can’t create a decent combat system
@@ryanelliott71698 To be honest, a detailed combat system is the only significantly good thing in HoI4, Vic 3 is about economy and politics.
@@ryanelliott71698 I’ll take the front system over the god awful micro in V2 any day

I really wish i could release Palestine as Israel immediately rather than waiting 50 years...
I'm sure you can, using some modding to get the nationalism as Britain etc.. right when you start, there are ways to get stuff done faster. And after that you could stop cheating, prob is, playing as Israel that soon would put you in so much disadvantage that you would die pretty quickly.
This will come as no surprise to Victoria 2 veterans.
You forgot about Poland...
Vic 3 is underrated
Is it just me or is Ireland Kind of unplayable at the Start of the Game?
Sikh empire guide
It just seems false that you can just release the nation you wanna play... I mean there are hardly countries which would release other nations
Yeah, and you wouldn't if you wanna keep your empire intact - but you COULD release countries as strategic buffer zone subjects - or to roleplay as them. That's alternative history for you :)
Well, NSW released Victoria in 1851. But that's exceptional given the difficulty of ruling a city that's >700km away with very little in between and given NSW was just a crown colony, not an independent nation. Having said that, Victoria is not releasable in game (in 1836 at least).
Not counting releasing colonies, the only example I can think of of an independent nation releasing another nation was Italy releasing the Vatican (if you think they owned it to begin with, which is debatable). So, yeah, not super realistic, but as long as they AI never does it you don't have to either, so it's just something that gives players more options, which seems good to me.
Yeah not too many. Last nation I remember that did that was Singapore
@@chaoticsequencer There’s more - Sweden “released” Norway from the personal union in 1905 after the independence movement. That’s reason enough itself to have this feature present.
@@AndysTake sure but take for example austrian empire. You wanna play Bohemia or Hungary and you start with austria and let those countries be independent. It just doesnt make sense because it would destroy the whole empire and historically there was the 1848 rvolution.
It would be much better if you could start as a rebellion faction within the country and fight for independency.
Oregon is a good one. Quebec is also playable
