  • My father was my hero and losing him 2012 was something that I still haven’t fully recovered from. 9 months after his passing I was in Tofino BC ready to start a journey that we had planned on taking together “one day”. However life happens and plans get pushed down the road, but I was determined to make sure that our trip would be carried out and that we would do it together. This video is the showcases my journey across Canada on a bike, solo in memory of the greatest man I ever knew, my dad.
As I cycled through the heart of Canada, I encountered a range of experiences, from the tough uphill battles to the peaceful and serene moments on the road. I met new people, saw different places, and embraced the beauty of the natural world that my father loved.
Throughout the journey, I carried my father's memory with me, honoring his love for adventure and the outdoors. The ride was not just a physical challenge but an emotional one too, as I came to terms with his loss and found solace in the memories we shared.
Join me on this heartfelt journey, as I pay tribute to my father and the love he instilled in me for life's simple joys. Experience the beauty and solemnity of Cycling Across Canada Solo in Honor of My Father.

Living in zone 3 on the Canadian Prairies presents unique challenges for homesteading and herbalism. The harsh climate, dry and nutrient-poor soil, and risk of drought are just a few of the obstacles we face. However, we have found ways to adapt, using new technologies, crop genetics, and gardening techniques. We also source plants from other regions and dry and store them for future use. We are excited to share these tips and techniques with you.
We are inspired by our grandfather, who taught us the value of determination and the importance of living in harmony with nature. His love for gardening and herbalism has stayed with us throughout our lives, and we are honored to carry on his legacy.
On our channel, you will find a variety of videos, including tutorials on homesteading for beginners, organic gardening methods, permaculture, and backyard farming for food security. We also share tips on natural living, eco-friendly living hacks, and traditional skills for modern homesteaders. Our herbalism videos cover topics such as homemade remedies, herbal medicine for natural healing, and wildcrafting.
We are excited to connect with you on this journey towards a more self-sufficient and sustainable lifestyle. Thank you for joining us!

Oh Cody, this is amazing, thanks so much for sharing. A lot of those shots, especially towards the beginning of your trip, look like they could be in Alaska! Must have been a beautiful experience. I've been dealing with grief from losing my younger brother and it's been an incredibly painful time, lots of up and downs and I definitely feel most at peace being out in nature when I can muster the energy, even just going for a walk. Way to go on your journey!!

This is going to be a long comment so please don't feel you need to respond.
    First off - EPIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're so glad you shared this. I lost my Dad a few years ago. Very tough.
We live about a ten minute walk from where you where in Victoria.
I driven to Calgary and back every year and have mad respect for how long that must be on a bike. The ice was NUTZ !!
There's a indescribably powerful feelings that come from solitary and sometimes tedious journeys that very few people could understand, let alone do.
This epitomizes, life's short, stay awesome.
Something that can never be taken away.
    Cheers Jason and Colleen
