Honestly, I really hope we get a fist fight combat like you said, and the ability to be on a feature to replay as the Locust, or General Raam.

@@nadaesfacilonly if they do a remaster of graphics. If they simple do a collection and upscale gameplay with the newer technology without a full graphics overall and port it to steam to grow the audience it would be a perfect hype build up before e day
hoping Beast mode makes a return, it was very unique. Maybe even a mode where you play against actual players as Gears then the opposing team Locust that vary from drones to corpsers. Like a L4D2 versus approach. The Gears have to defend while the locust try to breach

Gears actually experimented with this type of Game mode in Gears of War: Judgement it was called Overrun and it was a Horde mode and Beast mode Fusion, was actually pretty fun.

With talks of the city and level design and if they want to keep elements of open world, a game that combines linear and open world elements really well is Halo 3 odst. Its levels were linear but you had lots of options to traverse in. Flanking routes, back alleyways, catwalks, large courtyard battles.
Also would be cool to finally see the 4th carmine brother in this game.

Char was definitely a messed up and creepy moment from GOW 3.
I hope they take the retro lancer charge off the reload button
That completely threw me, my friends and some of my family off when they figured this out in gears 5 and they refused to play gears 5 for this reason because this wasn’t what they were used too
Also having the bayonet on the reload button has a few problems especially in the heat of battle I have died many times when my character reloaded instead of using the bayonet and vice versa
yeah the chainsaw rev being the same button as reload was ridiculous
Personally it wasn't a big issue for me on my runs but I also see adding the slash in place of bayonet / chainsaw is kinda redundant so i see where you come from
Just make it the B button and it’ll be fine. Hated it being on the reload button
The thing is, that we already had the same issue with Bayonnet/chainsaw beeing on the melee button. That was cluncky, and with the new melee combo it wasn't possible to keep it on it. You just need to be used to it. But i think that even if its "cluncky" its still better than the melee button.
Well according to Gears of War lore E day is basically where General Raam and Queen Myrrah initially link up to begin their assault, so we should definitely be seeing Raam in Gears of War E day I would think
We all know RAAM is appearing. They gave that smirk like, "You're damn right he is" lol.
I want more Berserker levels. And stayout of the dark Gears ⚙ for you know what lurks in those shadows

Berserker's appearance wouldn't make sense since Marcus never encountered one until Baird told him about it. They could appear, but they would have to appear in a way when we weren't in control of Marcus or his crew. It would be cool to see them again though.
In gears 1, Marcus or Dom never were like surprised or asked questions about who Raam was and kind of fought him without questioning and won "easily"
(He was surprise when he saw Kim die but that's not the point)
So because of that, I think Marcus would have a small history with Raam, if you play ultimate edition, after Raam kills Kim he looks over at Marcus like he recognize him. Plus Raam was a leading general for 14 years so you think Marcus would know who Raam is.
Would be cool of its a flashback told by Marcus fenix before the final gears 6 future war
Halo and Gears of War are like the same game :you play a Gear Spartan a badass soldier fighting for humanity tagainst non human monsters covenant and
Locust but the story is dark and gritty about how the enemy is endless they have Almost wipeout everyone and you the player play a soldier fighting tons of enemies that makes feel important
Side note: E Day is giving me Halo Reach Vibes I guess my a fan of stories about hopeless wars 😢

Would be really cool if they explored the Locust/Lambent War that led to E-Day like in the comics. Where you could play as RAAM or Skorge while switching back to Marcus/Dom's story.
Ik it’s super unlikely because
1. It takes place during E-day
2. Escape wasn’t very popular
But I do hope some version of escape comes back in this game. In particular maybe a game mode called hollow storm. Where you drop pod into the hollow plant a bomb somewhere specific then get out

I'd prefer a big overrun scale mode/big team battle and next level horde mode, I never liked the escape mode

Cheers for the video, fella! I'm excited about the new game, but also not expecting that much as The Coalition have proven, over their 3 games, that they are NOT the stewards for this franchise. UE was technically inept, 4 forced something onto the players that they didn't want, and 5.....well, that was.....best not spoken about anymore. Still, as Gears fans we live in hope!
It makes sense, I remember playing gears 1 and it did have the horror, and then you got the human element, where you felt the team. A unit of badass bros, grunt voices and Marcus spewing “awww sh**!”.
This is going to be good, I’m glad we’re going back. We may get to see how Marcus got his scar as well

My prediction on Gears of War E-Day
Considering it’s taken place during the first day of Emergence Day, I would expect the story beats match up to the books and will end in Marcus going to prison, thus leading into the first game.
Characters - because Marcus and Dom never met Cole and Baird and typically each gears of war game has to have a squad of 4, I think Tai and the 4th brother Carmine would be supporting characters in the E-Day game.

I recommend reading Jacinto remnant talks about the time around e day kind of eye opening. And also digs into Maria and how she kind of lost her mind. How bad dom felt leaving her. It also elaborated on light mass boom when the were losing

I'm hoping to see some of those cut enemy concepts from that video on all the cut content in the gears series like the Boomer master with the metal whip having to train wretches to attack people or the drones with wretches on leashes hunting survivors from the initial emergence to capture

I think we kind of all need this in our lives
We need a gears game where the main character is apart of the UIR, seeing the UIRs struggling view as they get invaded would be unique
Hopefully we get missions where we can also play as the common Cog soldier except we usually end up dying due to: being overwhelmed/having Hammer strikes being called down on us/being left behind during heated evacs. Something to truly show is just how fckd the Serans were on E-Day and onward.
Gears 4 had a mission where you defended a spot with a Hammer of Dawn while Kim went inside to gather data. Near the end you get an update that the Hammer was offline followed by your squad being killed by a Reaver’s missile which sucked but was also a cool because it showed you didnt always win against the Locust Horde

The only thing i wont like about Gears of War E Day is that we wont be able to see anyone from the Carmine family😭 all of the brothers are too young in the lore during eday to fight the locust & the only carmine who is old enough to fight the locust freaking dies within minutes of the locust emerging in the comics😭😭😭

Honestly, reading that interview, it seems like Matt was giving a lot of passion and pride into what he thinks is gonna be a knockout for the Gears of War franchise. It makes me excited to see what they have in store.
I do wonder if the classic chainsaw lancer would be a one and only prototype used by Marcus during maybe half of the story...
That would make it both Lore friendly and make you felt you are witness some history.
It's going to be like super shot gun for doom guy or Grave Gun for Gorden, at least during some times of the story, maybe in the last few part the gun was put into production.
Or maybe we can upgrade this prototype Lance to make it more powerful ?
As I recall, the origin of the chainsaw is that Tai used a chainsaw on a locust and it proved far more effective than the bayonet (which reportedly was ineffective in penetrating the locusts thick hide... so one might expect a broken bayonet mechanic in EDay) and then Marcus's dad engineered the chainsaw bayonet on the modern lancer.
Therefore, I think it would require some revisionist history to include the chainsaw bayonet in any form if the game is centered on the single day of E-day and doesn't span a longer timeframe.
I'd have to go back and look at the specifics, but I would expect that whether we see the chainsaw bayonet or not will depend on how long a timespan the game covers.
I think it's likely that you will see the modern low-kick lancer as the Standard equipment rather than the jumpy retro style in order to give some kind of familiarity to the feel from the other games.

I hope Raam does return for atleast a brief moment. The krill, theron guards, and berserkers from gears 1 cant come back because in gears 1 marcus says "wtf is that" basically every time lol. But with Raam he basically has no comment about seeing him before or not so they could use him. Im so hyped
Painful scenes with Dom and Maria? yeah i'm not ready to open that wound again
New locust monsters is a dream, I love the locust vibe and appearance, and seeing a new locust hollow monster or boomer type would be hella good
I'm so psyched and ready, but one question that I'm having is mostly in regards to the weaponry. The main issue is the Lancer. I know they didn't have the Mk. 2 Lancer on E-Day, but seeing a Gears game without it feels so strange and surreal. It's THE signature weapon of the franchise, and I hope they find some way to work it in. However, to make that choice takes some balls, and I respect that and am willing to give them a chance.
RAAM is my favorite character out of them all. I remember when I first played and seeing his design especially with the kryll shield at the end of the first game he looked so badass I really hope they have him in the game.
It makes sense since this is the start of the locust invasion which means lead mad scientist of the locust army ukkon would develop much more deadly sophisticated weapons and mutations utilizing the effects of illumusion
For the last 2yrs I have been talking with my son and siblings about the next Gears Of War game/Gears game. And told them the franchise absolutely NEEDS to return to the older vibe and, OG characters. Whether that be by a Gears 6 that would somehow involve time travel? And in doing so, some things slightly change. Like saving Dom and his wife? Or something...but, they needed to go back to the OG style. Thankfully they are. I would comment on their social media posts a lot about how they needed to do this. And that the majority of us want THIS! They actually listened to all of us. Really hoping that they make the controller layout like the OG layout too. Not like Judgement or Gears 5.
Be cool to be able to finally ride in a king raven or have a king raven mission I’m sure always loved those scenes in gears 1 n 2

This definitely brought me back to the series. I been a veteran Gears of war player since Gears of war 3. Yes I did play 4 & 5. I still prefer 1-3 still to this day. I dis like 4 & 5. Ain't it for me. Can't wait for E-Day
it would be nice to see something like Beast Mode where u can play as different Enemies or play. as the locust when u beat the game where we could see what the locust went through before E-day which make a good Dlc if they did that it would add a lot to the. story and make it work well so it can grow the lore because in gears of war 3 where u get to play as Raam. shows it is possible to do something like that since it would show u how the locust would been fighting there war with lambent and the Humans so it would expand the gears story so we would see how the did things and what led up to E-day just my thoughts.
Maybe we will get to witness the first time marcus crosses paths with tai

Krill, beast riders, berserkers Karn and the sires would be a good entrance to the game. Even tho we don’t see the sires until after we enter Niles lab. This game is gonna save the franchise from its teenage esthetic coalition decided to go with. I hope we get fist fight combat, be able to use our knifes as a weapon, and be able to actually free roam Jacinto.
I hope we get some content like RAAM's shadow DLC from GoW3. They could make the story like Halo 2 where you see different sides of the war from the view of the faction in question. Or just bring back Beast Mode, since that was awesome in it's own right
Hey Abz, I remember you do crossover theory videos and stuff. I'm curious on your opinion on who would win in a fight. One of the Aliens from A Quiet Place, or a Berserker from Gears. Both are incredibly powerful, impenetrable skin, blind and all that. I'd love your insight on this. Since some of my favorite content is your crossover videos.
It all depends on speed, honestly. Although it the Berserkers' cry is a high enough frequency, it could be disorienting to the Alien and expose its weak spot. It's just a matter of who finds who first.
Mode wise what we need is classic pvp horde beast & that overrun game mode from judgement customisation wise we need full weapon cog & locust customisation like gears tactics this will literally save gears & be the best yet if they deliver on the these things
I hope we get to see Baird and Cole, like how e-day went down for them.

I recently stopped playing pc games, and my pc broke months ago anyway, recently I switched to ps5 and Xbox series x ,I have heard of gears of war , I think I played gears of war 2 , 3 on the Xbox one , but now I’m definitely pre ordering this when it comes out
I'm hoping to some early versions of locust enemies that were phased out later in the war as the locust horde got better equipment or understood the fight they were having better. Also hoping to see old enemies brought back like the kryll
If you ask me lore wise it would also make sense to have the locust bigger and stronger as their troops are fresh and haven't been stagnated from a long war or having the hollow flooded and sunk.
This is gonna be exciting! They better not screw this up
We have a decent idea of the key locust figures during e day, so I'd be surprised if Raam didn't appear in some fashion! So hyped either way 🎉
If they're going to have a melee system they should make ammo somewhat more scarce and the weapons themselves more powerful

Since it's the early days of E Day they need to bring back the ragers, deviants, disciples, zealots and bring back the hunters to reintroduce the torque bow

Definitely will be interesting to see if the gameplay shifts some to better represent the CoGs inexperience against immense soldiers. Being ragdolled around by drones would be crazy. 😅

It would be a waste not to give us a more realized beast mode, make it sort of like hive busters where players have to survive as gears but other players have to stop them as the horde? Idk I just play video games

You known, I would love to see the weapons from previous gears of war games, like the classic hammer (the hammer from the first gears), the booshka, the breencshot, the tripwire crossbow, the stim granedes.
I didn't like judgement all that much but the booshka was my baby
Do you think we’ll see characters like Theron guards, Kantus, and berserkers? I was replaying gears 1 and the first time the group encounters the Theron’s is in the ground at the imulsion pump. By the dialogue it seems like it is the first time the group encounter them. This is the same with the berserker as well as the kantus being underground for the beginning of the war.
there is so much story in the comic book of the locust point of view, i really hope they add the point of view in the game so we can get locust's point of view. (spoilers ahead in case they actually add it)
i really want them to show how Uzil Sraak died by Ra'am, and how Skorge and Ra'am became like Marcus and Dom, brothers. they need to show how important the locust's war was with the lambent and how serious it was.
Low key I hope Maria is a playable character in multiplayer
