I bought my first Panerai 3.5 years ago. Sold it soon after... then got to missing it... a lot. Bought the same model back again (at an even better price), then another one... and another... I've now purchased 20 of the things. Twelve are still around in the collection. They have their own watchbox. One is for sale, so I guess I haven't completely lost my mind. :)
Anyway, I guess you could call me a fan. I have other watches in the collection, some really nice ones in fact. Yet when it comes time to select the watch of the day, Panerai gets the honor much of the time. I think that they are some of the best pre-owned value out there today.
For instance I have an Equation of Time that cost me not much more than a run-of-the-mill Omega. For a high complication like that?? The watch has so many parts to the movement that it weighs more than a gas BBQ. To get an EoT in one of the other few brands producing one is approaching mid-five figures. Setting aside the question of who actually needs an EoT, it is a cool and unique complication.
I also recently picked up a red gold, 1 of 150 LE. Stunning. It has an in-house skeletonized movement that is finished so well I would put it up against Patek. Not the same brand cache, but nowhere near the same price tag either.
And then there is the legendary PAM 190. The movement is actually a JLC 877, with the Panerai OP designation of course. Incredible movement. I now know why JLC is considered the watchmaker's watch.
YMMV, but once you get into the brand, you realize how different each piece is, despite the initial impression that they are subtle variations on the same design. And if you're into straps, as I am, so many options to change up the look.

I’ve been obviously longing for a Luminor Marina for years but I’m a 39/40mm watch guy and didn’t think id ever be able to pull off a 44mm with 53mm lug to lug on my 6.75” wrist. I have to be honest, it doesn’t look nearly as big as i thought it would and your wrist is even a little smaller than mine. Do the lugs curve down a lot or is there some paneristi sorcery at play here? I think its still too big for me personally as much as i adore the watch, if I’m going to spend that much money I’m going for a Speedy. Cheers my friend!

Pateks - wait a minute - I never had the means to own a Patek (ha, ha). But they would be tiny for me as well. G-shocks!!!!! Yeah baby. Those fit me very well. But I prefer Panerais over any other watch. Period.

If you don't buy a Panerai for yourself, man, you're wrong, on your wrist it looks great! I got the pam 1084, splendid watch and superb strap.

I did a custom build with an NH35 in a Panerai-style case that's this same style, but 40mm with a 20mm lug width. Wears so good.

Sorry, but nothing beats a real Panerai.

@@bigmacdaddy1234 Probably not, but beatrate is the same, looks are exactly what I wanted, and cost was less that $150. I don't try to pass it off as a Panerai either, it's my own custom build, and I don't try to hide it.
