GPlama is such an incredible content creator. Reliable, unbiased, ethical and his editing is top notch. Totally deserve all the success he's getting. Thank you for the interview!
He needs to do more podcasts and just talk, he's a good talker
Totally agree! Seems to be an absolute gentleman as well and genuine. Had a couple of Instagram interactions and just seems a great dude.
GPlama = legend!!!
Agreed… GP is an absolute go-to for those non PR staff written content/reviews… I can’t stand a few others that literally sound like they’re reading a company’s press release! 🍻
ran into him at an airport several years ago. & had a good chat. Great guy, and his no nonsense content & calling it straight as it is, without fear, deserves praise. Too many shills on social media platforms these days.
Yes, another top tier guest. Nero show is collecting the cycling CZcams infinity stones
GP Lama has helped me confidently buy head units, a smart trainer and power pedals - man is a godsend!
Great show guys and Shane. See you at Eurobike! Btw Ganna used the Assioma shi for his hour record prawn watt logging. About the Chinese head units being 5 yrs behind and just tick-boxing marketing specs like climb pro, i dont think in 5 years they will catch up. Its a mindset thing and a BD mindset they need to develop, long term. There are so many fleeting promising products on paper but the backers rarely have the will power to build something special. Its just a get rich quick mindset. Not all, but most in the experience i have - (Testing the cycling stuff i get sent, but also working in China for many years)
Really enjoy seeing your comments and sometimes Hambini on different YT channels, always adds a lot of credibility. Nero Show is a quality channel
Your experience in Asia is also very relevant as China is really getting into the cycling space now, with some great products.
Very happy with my Winspace Hyper 23s, your input was very valuable creating a great product. Thanks PT!!
For communists they certainly are raving capitalists!
@@thedownunderverse communism with Chinese characteristics!
Wicked show. Love to see the legend on this episode as well. Hope to see you all at eurobike.
Matthieu van der Poel was using garmin pedals even through he had the Shimano PM in the bike. The cranks was great for generating lottery winning numbers though
Excited for Karoo 3 & Shane's smirk 100% confirmed he's been testing it 😂
I got my Assioma Pro Mx pedals Thursday and so far they've been boring -- you forget they're there, they just work. Totally solid product.
I'm super envious. Where did you get them?
I thought they were still on pre-order (outside of Italy). And nobody I know of is actually selling them at the moment as far as I've been able to see.
Any insight into real-world availability would be much appreciated.
BTW: Did you go single-sided or duo? ( my wallet says single, but my heart wants both sides!)
Cheers
I registered on preorder 5 weeks ago, could order it 10 days ago (got an email from Favero…) received 3 days ago (could have received them 3 days earlier but Fedex messed it up…)….works great….
@@BrianRPatersonI got a pair also. I signed up for pre-order on Favero's website maybe 6 or 8 weeks ago. A couple weeks ago, I got an email saying I could order them. I did immediately, and they came in last week. I got the dual sided, and they seem great. My only complaint so far is about the travel mode. If you're going to drive to a race, you may want to put them in travel mode if you're not planning to charge. The only way to wake them up is to connect them to a charger. I'd rather there be a way to do it without power, but you can work around it.

I purchased the Favero Assioma Duo back in January 2020. I converted them from the road cleat to a SPD type. Haven't had an issue with them at these past 4 years. Love them.
Excellent vid. No equipment bought without referencing GP Lama and DC Rainmaker.
Always good to see Shane. Has cost me a lot of money buying tech after he shows how good it is :)
Favero makes the best product. Their customer support is outstanding too. Thanks to GPLama for helping my decision to purchase.
Sorry their support is joke. I got peddles 6 months ago for Xmas and they came with an issue which means output randomly halves . They were initially responsive but unhelpful so 2 months I had to pay £60 to return under warranty only for them not to replicate problem. Now it takes two weeks for them to respond to emails
An incredible video, thanks to both the Nero team and Shane for the amazing chat. The highest compliment that you can pay to anyone who does reviews is to say that they are "trusted". Shane exemplifies that idea but goes far beyond that with his incredible video quality and presentation style. Shane is the geeky friend that we all want to have in the cycling space. Fortunately for all of us he has chosen to be on CZcams where we can all call him our friend.
Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon watching Shane Miller.
When I hear the complaint about EDS/ltwoo/sensah that includes "if I have a component fail..." and recommending mainstream groupsets, all I can think about is shimano crank failures.
Yes that is a problem but it will happen really slow. You should notice it before it breaks. ltwoo just stopped working.
What percentage of Shimano cranksets failed? No one ever thinks about the denominator
Also those complaints on EDS/ltwoo/sensah only really are about electronic shifting. I haven't heard about any issues with the mechanical groupsets from those brands. And electronic groupsets will always have some risk of hard to fix electronic failures (or hard to get replacements), irrespective of the brand.
Bonus episode, happy day!!
I will always have a soft spot for Favero. I had a double hip replacement back in 2022 and modified a set of their power pedals to fit on a home made indoor handcycle trainer compatible with Zwift. This was a Godsend for recovery by keeping some fitness during the three months I was unable to walk. Thanks for the video! Shane is an absolute legend!
How are you getting along with cycling since? I need a left replacement soon and I have been worried about it.
@@Harry-qk3cz it was a multi-year journey to get to what I would call "100% recovered", but considering how bad my hips were before, it was positively life-changing. I was back to the pre-surgery levels after about 3months of rehab, and by month 6, it was night and day. The range of motion increase is on another level. I have personally had 2 other friends around my age go through replacements and they have had similar positive outcomes. Check out Caleb Carl's interview on Zommunique if you want some more perspective (we had our work done within a week of each other). My one recommendation if you do decide to go through with it is to find a surgeon that does hip replacements using the 'anterior' approach. The level of trauma and rehab needed is FAR less than the older 'posterior' approach. technology has come a long way over the last 10-20 years. I can even run!
You always manage to invite all my favourite cycling youtubers :D
Love the nero show!
Happy to hear that!
It’s Favero ordering day in these parts. GPLlama on with Nero boys 🎣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve got an old G3 PowerTap laced into DTSwiss hoop. Never had a problem with it in more than ten years. Although getting a firmware update is out of spec now. Compared to the Assimo’s within ten percent of each other. I remember a guy who I respected as a coach tried to get me to buy some of the pedal based PT ones. Which were $h!t3. I did manage to make the SPuD conversion for some Assimos that Shane put up. Been a great choice
Great episode, guys! I agree with most of what Shane said, especially regarding the Chinese bike computers. However, there's always a "but." Their price is tempting, but the user interface is usually not very polished. On the other hand, unlike Western brands, Asian ones often listen to feedback and desire to improve their products.
Otherwise, I'm curious about this year's Eurobike. I met Shane there last year, and it was just as he said. There are so many products that it's impossible to keep track of them all. 😅PS: Comfy shoes are a must!
thanks guys! , great episode/conversation....seems that youtube is diversifying a lot and that the algorithm will have to also start splitting across different types of content/audience to reflect that more. I've actually bothered to unsubscribe from afew cycling channels becasue i just didnt want their shifted more shouty content in my feed anymore. You guys have really caught a solid space here that sounds relevant and real. keep up the good work.
hahaha totally bonkers someone ripped into shane for having bad english and vocab - he's one of the most clear youtube communicators I know!
This was a great interview. I specifically chose a Quarq power meter based on Shane's reviews. I was listening to it while I was working on one of my bikes in the garage. Needed new brake cables and bar tape, made the work go by quicker.
I love your interview episodes, it compliments your other videos very well.
Shane miller! Holy mother of god you guys are delivering lately :D if i need a headunit or powermeter i go to gplama and whatever he tells me to buy, i buy. Its that simple.
not gonna lie, i always thought shane was articulate because i thought he scripts his videos with a teleprompter but this podcast suggests that his brain just operates at 200rpm
It’s an IT thing
Both Shane and these guys....amazing humans....appreciate what you guys do. And actually yes, I would love a video Chris of you guys following GCN on how they do what they do hahaha that would be so interesting!
Great spot on the non-shimano cranks on Plapps bike. I've just looked at the footage and it's an SRM. In the shot on 0:32 seconds in that video you can see the '9' on the spider, which is an SRM.
Finally, my 3 favorite Aussie cyclists in one video! Loved it.
Nice one guys, this has to be one of your best to date. I saw this on my feed at 5:30am its now 7:07am haha no prework ride today.
Hope you enjoyed it!
This is such a good episode. Watched it in 3 instalments as it's quite a lengthy one. Thank you to all involved.
GPLama is my go-to for product reviews… his review of Favero’s PM’s were what lead me to look into them - and ultimately purchasing them… along with my head unit(s) and keeping Zwift when I was gonna cancel it… 😂🍻
Quarq for the win. Significant check in the plus column for SRAM.
Awesome show. Thanks for having Shane on. Keep ‘em coming guys! 👍
Great edition guys, awesome dynamic across the 3 of you.
Great to see Shane Miller on the channel. Big fan of him
Only watched a couple of GPLama videos but what a great guest he made, thank you!
What a great guest!!! You three had good vibes.
Wow that just flew! Well done guys. Enjoyed listening to that
Thx Chris and Jessie you are doing awesome stuff. Long term fan of GP lama. To me his content epitomises the upside of CZcams, like a trusted TV network. His obvious energy shows how this is done on a much smaller budget.
Didn't yall call out the TCR disk as crap in your last episode... cause GP Lama famously featured the 1st gen TCR Advanced Pro Disc...
I love watching bike tech and performance type chats. Thanks for this bois!
Thanks and make Shane a standing piece of your show
Great video. Shane does very professional reviews. He helped me discover Zwift and Wahoo Kickr. So much better than my old computrainer.
Great episode guys. Entertaining and informative
Thanks guys. I just bought the Favero Assiomas duo sided PM pedals. I was on the fence for a while but this video convinced me to purchase them.
Guys during the TDU i was in a cafe and i overheard astana team staff complaining about faulty power meters! So maybe they do care about accuracy?
Also is Gp lama talking in 1.5xspeed? 😂😂 🤷♂️
Spot on with Favero, bought my pair 4 years ago and still going strong based on DC Rainmaker and GP Lama's reviews. Also had a ROTOR 2INpower which I subsequently sold but kept the Assiomas, great product.
great ep. every time you have a guest its an amazing show. so good
Great episode. Most likely one of the best
Great Show guys…….GPLama is the REAL Deal……..❤
What a figure head for cycling CZcams. Pure love of and for cycling.
Awesome talk guys! Thanks👍🏼
Cheers gents! Keep ‘‘em coming.
@jessecoyle... I was a diehard Bolt V1 computer guy for years. I crashed & broke the screen on the V1, binned it. I ponied up for the newer V2 Bolt and habent looked back. It's so much better for training & viewing/usability. Just my input from a retail paying rider.
Another one we’ve all been waiting for!!
Loved that. Solid show boys
Fantastic discussion. Love having Lama the Legend just shooting the shit and being candid. Cheers guys!
Thumbs up at Dangling AH 😂. Great session guys.
You have to remember that Assioma was Favero's second product. They had the BePro out in 2015. That had some issues with the charging port and installation (you had to align the pedal with a lockring). So Assioma is a second generation for them having learning the issues with BePro - Assioma came out in 2017. They also outsourced the cycling bits of the pedal - pedal body and cleats etc to focus on the sensor and electronics which is their specialism. So one thing Favero did well - other than make a very good reliable product - is have patience. They didn't do a ton of marketing, they let their product and their own customers become their sales force by making a good product at a reasonable price. So Assioma is now 7 years old and still selling well. With other manufacturer it would have been replaced or revamped by now.
Re infocrank, completely agree with Shane. I remember back in 2017 when i met someone working for infocrank during a visit to my home city, Perth. I was new to cycling at the time. I had around 12 months experience. The vibe I got was exactly what Shane said. The message was “All the other power meters are shit, only ours is good. We even redefined what is a watt”. I would have gotten it if they said “this is how we are different and why we think it would move the needle”. However, to come out and say everything else is shit really made me uncomfortable.

Llllll
Thoroughly engaging. Thanks
Great ep, Shane is a legend and knows his stuff.
I think I was at that race at Wang. I remember pulling off my booties just before start after last minutes decision by commissarie.
Two 👍👍’s up - another top notch show.
My choice too: Chinese frame, wheels and bars, Shimano Ultegra Di2 12sp. Yoeleo R12 - been great all the way. Had an issue with one bike hub - Yoeleo sent a new hub so easy fix apart from having to wait to get on the bike. Di2 12sp is awesome - like perfect. And yes - I love my Varia!
Shane was a really great Guest
Enjoyed this one immensely
brilliant content lads. love shane
Favero had a great product on day 1 and they have continued to deliver a great product, with a great warranty, at a great price. How many Chinese wheel makers started out with bad hubs, then the hubs got better, but the freehubs were bad, then the freehubs were better, but the bearings were bad, then the bearings were better, but the carbon spokes were badly glued, etc, etc, etc. Some people kind of want to buy a good quality finished product right now and just forget about them as long as they perform proper maintenance. That's what Favero was a few years ago, that's not what a LOT of wheel makers were at the same time.
The magene pedal based PM is P705. weighs 299 grams a pair with 100 hours of battery life. came across them on chinese internet but have not actually seen them. about $380 in china.
Hello guys! Love your pods! Can you do Maven next , like why he quit vlogging. Thanks!
Great episode ❤
The only reason i watched this was because Shane was on it, interesting section on the climb-pro thing; i turn my climb thing off, at the end of the day you've got to muscle the climb my heads fried enough from the incline, THO it's really helpful if you ain't done the road 👍
Love this, good content
One thing that puts me off and has me concerned about buying a power meter is the accuracy vs. my Wahoo Kickr.
The accuracy matters when switching between the bike on the Kickr and the bike I ride on the road.
Similar concern for many. You could run your outside PM on the turbo bike and capture the data simultaneously. Any difference in avg power, that’s the fixed offset you have between the two.
My one tip for Jesse from China - EXS Aerover handlebar. Hard to get hold of but insanely good
Would love for you guys to bring on The Bike Sauce, so he can counterpoint, explaining why paid advertisements disguised as reviews is beneficial.
I like Bike Sauce, but he does recommend some expensive stuff! However, you don't have to buy it.
Love my Favrero Assioma Unos! The charge life is amazing and I ride 200+ miles per week. Every 6 to 8 weeks maybe. The used Factor I bought recently came with the Rotor 2IN Power meter installed so I have been able to cross check my Unos with the Rotor on a number of rides and the watts are either identical on most Strava segments or +- 1-2 watts at most. The avg and peak cadence does vary a bit between the two. The only area I think Favero should invest in improving is the phone app isn't great or particularly functional or intuitive. The default crank length in the app is 172.5 and I have enountered new users who are on 170 or 175 who didn't realize this and it skews your data 🙃
Love, love, love Favero pedals!!!
My favorite powermeter is stages (left crank) because is easy to use, accurate and convenient and only adds about 20g....
Clicked on this so fast!!
Awesome chat lads!
I judge a video by how much I tolerate ads. There were a LOT of ads but I kept clicking skip and wanted to keep watching. Great content guys 👍
will there be a road spd pedal body for the favero mx pro? 🤔
This Is outstanding content.Thanks
Im hoping the sram powertap and time pedals acquisitions gives us time power meter pedals
Banger episode boys! GPlama is the man
Regarding wearables, before I caved in and bought my touchscreen edge I was using my Fenix 7 with an adapter as my bike computer. In terms of data recording it’s nearly identical, the edge has just more specific cycling functions but using the watch would definitely be enough for the average punter.
I actually love my Favero Assioma. Problem free since day 1. I'm a little bit tired of regularly swapping them over between my bikes, so I have a Magene PES P505 on the way, also taking the opportunity to try a shorter crank length. Fingers crossed!
Thanks gents!
Shimano PM - very surprising that the "issue" has gone on for so many years without being resolved. Their Di2 drivetrains continue to be successfully upgraded and trickled down to lower tiers. Just seems strange especially with Pro teams involved. Power2Max PM was recommended by my Bike Tech & it was a great solution that works well with my Shimano. Then again, Shimano has had some big distractions during the last 4 yrs.
The Nero Show on a Monday? WTF? The routine of my whole week is shattered!
great show
Love my Assiomas (6 years now) Downside: My gravel/cross bike (crux) - I switch between road shoes (preferred for gravel, mostly) and mtb bike (cross - required). Crank based would be much easier.
Favero don't need to to sponsor any pros, just look in local club rides plenty of amateur and people use them. They know it's super accurate, affordable, serviceable etc. It's difficult to find a reason to get any other pedals really (maybe if you really can't stand the look cleats system is the only good reason that would come to mind).
Interesting observation at 52:20 about the Apple Watch Ultra smashing into the wrist bone. That has not happened to me whatsoever, but if the watch sat even 1mm to 2mm lower down my wrist than it does, it would, because Apple made themselves somewhat of a hostage to fortune on this particular point by making the watch square and then having the crown at the top rather than the bottom. What saves me is how well the back of the watch and wristband fit me--it is far superior to anything Garmin I've worn though I've yet to try out any Elevate 5 Garmin watch.
Waiting for my Pro MX at the moment. Comms so far has been oddly comprehensive about every aspect of the purchase and delivery.
I'm considering selling my Beluga (Garmin explore 2) and getting iGPSPORT 630s. I was on Istria Gran Fondo, saved course with Connect app, no ClimbPro, bad intersection routing, charger port can't stay closed... 😢 Disappointed in Garmin at that one. Had Magene 406 lite-basic functionality but battery for days and turns off if not used.
