Brief and very late correction, but what you translate as "with the rebellion's sharp sound" is actually a reference to "lud" (sound is lyd), which is a term for an older kind of soap made by mixing animal fat with sodium hydroxide. It would be translated as "with the biting/sharp lye of rebellion". The implication here being that the rebellion will serve as a kind of soap or lye which will "cleanse" Denmark from its occupiers.
Rebellion is also wrong. It's not "med oprørets skarpe lud" it's "med opgørets skarpe lud" as in "the showdown" or "the confrontation". As in now we're going to cleanse the occupiers and collaborators from the country. Also, "skarpe lud" rhymes with "skarpe skud" which I don't think is unintentional. "Skarpe skud" means live ammunition. It's probably alluding to the fact that it had been decided to reinstate the death penalty temporarily and apply it retroactively to traitors and collaborators and they were executed by firing squad. I'm well aware that many places has the lyrics as "oprørets" but that is simply not correct. The original wording was "opgørets" and if you listen closely you can tell.

well --- thank you for that, but seriously.. the entire occupation was mostly a series of political "yes sir" ism.. in 1943 there was a general strike that finally forced our politicians to give up goverment ,they continued , but it was from then on a German occupied country.. our finest hour was when we managed to evacuate most of our Jewish population to Sweden ,but actually the German top dog in DK mr Best warned Danish politicians about the coming raid .. not because he had any sympathy for jews, but because he had learned that the best way to exploit Danish resources -- mainly agricultura and fish -- was to keep ppl happy.. but ofc, a warning is one thing, another is to evacuate these ppl to Sweden.. the resistance did that .. that we saved our Jewish Danes is our finest hour in the occupation for sure.. but actually you should also think of Sweden, boxed in between Norway, occupied, and Finland, friendly but still German allied , the Swedes was forced to go along with many sad things --- but, in secret, they took in everybody from Norway and Denmark and Finland that was on the run from Germans and then even in late-war put up a secret training camp for Norwegien and Danish resistance and armed them in uniforms and moderne weapons :) so they could be ready when the allieds would finally show up, to aid the fight against the Germans.. never came to that, but still... Danish resistance stole a god damn ferry, a big one , and sailed it to Sweden.. Germans wanted it back but it was impounded -- until the socalled Danish brigade went home over the channel.. Sweden had and has many arms factories ,back then they secretly produced pistols , not marked in any way, and let resistance in DK and N have them.. Sweden was a big help to us, but ofc in secret.. Norway, that was the really tough ones back then, kept up a fight for 2 weeks and was then occupied from then on..

As in most of the occupied countries in Europe there was a lot of collaboration at the top but at the same time there was a growing resistance down below and for a long time there was a bitter struggle between the two. But eventually, with the help of the Allies and also neutral Sweden, the resistance became an effective force and won the support of the great majority of the Danish people. So by the end of the war I think it succeeded in redeeming and reviving the soul of the Danish nation.

@@RebelSonBand I mean, part of why the politicians were forced to step down was also because they refused to accept some of the more insane demands of the Germans and regarding the Swedes, yes, they did help, but maybe hold your horses a little as they also let the Germans use their railways which helped them transport troops to the Eastern Front, the massive amounts of iron they exported and possibly even Jews to death camps... Regarding the 9th of April, it was a symbolic fight, you don't refuse soldiers to dig in and only give them 20 extra rounds and a couple of anti tank guns if you expect it to be long term and flatlands are a lot harder to fight in than snowy forests. That is something a lot of people seem to forget. Not to dismiss what the Norwegians did but I kinda wish people would realize these soldiers were sent for political reasons (even if they didn't know it) and not because it was some fumbled defense, which is sad and really deserves criticism but from a different angle.
Resistance was and is very dangerous work as witnessed by the movie 'Hvidsten' Gruppen' about a group of people centered around Hvidsten Kro (Inn) who helped collect weapons drops from the british among other things. Many of the moviegoers where old enough to have parents that have lived through the war some old enough to have lived through it. The theater was very quiet when the movie ended.
