  • In this episode I get the chance to really put the Klein Attitude gravel bike to the test. During this 10 hour epic bike ride I discover new places, get to grips with my bikes handling, and completing my first off road (mostly) 100 mile ride.
    Come along on this mini tour of Dorset as we follow the famous 'Dorset Gravel Dash' route and have a great day of adventure in the best weather that the UK has to offer.
    Beautiful countryside, tough ascents, crazy descents and even a woman caught peeing on a path! (I felt so sorry for her!!)

    This is a GREAT VIDEO! I started gravel riding a couple of years back (Giant Revolt Advanced 2) and really enjoy the challenges of the gravel - kind of like your downhill run. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten to the bottom of a washboarded hill and commented, "YAY! I didn't DIE!"It is almost December (2023) here in northern Virginia (in the States), and I won't be riding gravel again for a few months, so it's great videos like this that help get me through! CHEERS!

      Thanks for your kind words, it was a great ride, and yes the gravel bike is just a little harder to survive downhills on! Here in the UK it is often quite hard to find gravel paths like we often see people ride in the states, but we try our best. Hope you enjoy getting back put when you can, take care and happy cycling 🙂👍

    Great video, looked like a phenomenal ride! I have watched all 3 parts to the “New Attitude” series (all today) and have already managed to get my hands on a 2004 Attitude (hopefully; I’m supposed to pick it up next week-fingers crossed!). As a side note; I own a collection of metal working equipment (CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, and manual mills/lathes) and would be happy to make or help you make any needed parts in the future (it would be an honour to contribute to your channel!). Thank you again for making these videos; I look forward to more!

      Wow, you did not hang around when deciding on your build. Thanks for the kind offer of help as well - I may well be in touch in future! Klein frames did change a bit in terms of disc brake comparability once Trek too ownership and disc brakes became more of a standard MTB component. Hence my bike will probably differ to the one your getting in terms of disc brake compatability - it could well be easier in terms of a project. Best of luck anyway and let me know when yours is finished! Good luck!

      Time For Bikes Yes, I really took the bull by the horns! I did a quick search and to my surprise there was a near perfect condition Attitude available locally (I live in western Canada), so I jumped on it! The bike is fitted with disc brakes already (so quite a time saver) and it does appear to have the modern standard mounting on the frame. I will definitely provide an update when it’s done (it will likely be my winter project for days when it’s too cold and snowy to ride). And yes, please feel free to reach out if you ever would like a hand making a component, I would love to help (we may be on other sides of the globe, but packages usually get between our countries in a week via post and a day or two when couriers are used), that being said; I tip my hat at you for your brake adapter bracket, nice work!

      Thanks Neil. I think the brakes on yours sound like they will cause you less trouble for sure. While mine was a bit of a pain it was a job that was well worth doing - I actually enjoyed that part. Enjoy your project. I am sure you will get a lot of pleasure from it. Once again, thanks for your offer of help, let's see what kind of project I take up and you never know I might well do with your help. Thanks again for commenting - best of luck.

    Great video, giving me some trail ideas. I've just bought a gravel bike after road cycling for many years. Also, I was surprised to you on RW in the last scene, I live just round the corner! Thanks, John

      Thanks John! We are so lucky to have such a great area for riding off road locally. Get out there and explore more for sure. Gravel bikes certainly give you that freedom to ride almost anywhere - that's the beauty of them in my opinion. If you see me out and about one day then say hello. Take care and happy cycling.

    Can you share the GPX file?

    • @timeforbikes
      @timeforbikes  Před 3 lety

      Hi Jack, the best I can do is share a GPS of a ride that is almost identical to the one I rode. The only real difference if the ride from where I live to a start point closest to my home town - those extra miles too it to over 100. Please bear in mind that this route is of a well know comes from a well known event that I think is well worth entering when when covid relaxes. The name of the event is in the title on the following link: ridewithgps.com/routes/27487604?lang=en
      Hope that helps, also if you likes the video then be sure to like it and subscribe to the channel to be updated when more similar rides are posted.

      Hi James, I am not too sure if I am honest. I will do some digging for you. Are you local to the Dorset area?

    • @jamesfirth2392
      @jamesfirth2392 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, live in Poole, Fred dropped off the Time Trial radar a couple of years ago, just wondered if he'd moved

      Wessex RC is a small, but great club, and a quick chat with a committee member has cleared this up a bit. Apparently Fred left the area a few years back and now lives up north. A very important guy to our club. Thanks for getting in touch, and maybe see you around. say hi to the Wessex guys!
