      Hi! I’ve been watching videos, including yours, to help me decide on which camera I should get. I’m a beginner and enjoy taking photos using my iPhone 12, but I’m looking to upgrade to a mirrorless camera like the canon m50. Should I buy it this year or wait for a better one a few years from now since I really wanna up my photography but I’m willing to wait for a better one. Any suggestion?

    I just bought this camera a couple weeks back, largely due to your videos and reasons within! I'm completely new to photography, and only recently developed an interest in trying my hand at it, as well as streaming, and this camera seemed like the perfect tool to start learning. So far the camera has been fantastic, really makes learning f-stops, shutter speed and ISO easier. The only real complaint I have so far is the ergonomics of actually using the body - I have larger hands, and I've found the grip to be a little too shallow for me, making it really hard to reach buttons, especially the turn-dial around the shutter button. It would have been the perfect camera if the dial was built into the navigation-pad of the body!

I make CZcams videos about audio equipment and for the longest time I've been using an older iPhone 7 as my camera. Here lately though I've been really truly wanting to upgrade my camera set up to something that takes more beautiful video and more cinematic video and just has a better quality to it. I've been eating up videos lately between the M50 Mark II and the lumix G7 Heck and even the Sony Z1F, and no matter which video I watch or what video test or whatever review I watch I always come back to the M50 as being the best camera that's going to create the best results the easiest.

  • @sambowen
    @sambowen Před 3 lety +1

    The swivel screen is an absolute must I feel. I dont know how I managed to use my 20D with out it lol. It makes getting low shots very easy. You can get right down to the ground and not have to lay down if you dont want. Handy for trips to the beach with our 3 almost 4 year old and our almost 1 year old.
    One day I'll get a gimbal too and that'll make it even easier.
    The clean hdmi out is cool too. I've got the mk1 so it doesn't have that and my laptop probably couldnt handle full hd recording/streaming anyway. It barely gets by with the eos web cam utility for zoom.
    I plan on using the HDMI out in the future when I get a computerized telescope and a new laptop. Then I'll use it to stream views from the telescope, either of the bald eagle nest in a cell tower down the street from us, or views of the night sky.
    I use the eos utility program to control the camera remotely and then u use the capture window feature in OBS/Streamlab OBS to stream to youtube. Like last night I did a 3 hour stream capturing images for a timelapse.
    Anyway yeah...the m50, and the mkii are great cameras for what they cost and what they do. Anyone considering buying one should just stop now, scroll back up to the links and do it! 😎

    Just watched both videos you did on this and found it very informative, I have a curious question. So I used to shoot on the canon t1i throughout college from 2011-2016 and still do here an there but haven't since. So my question is, would this be a good upgrade or should I just go the route of getting the t8i or 77D?
    I've mostly done landscape both nature and urban and some portraiture shots, but lately been wanting to get into trying videos like trips or say a build video for lego, models and so on or action like skateboarding. 4k doesn't really matter to me since I've mostly done still or action type shots. anyhoots awesome videos and if you happen to see this comment then thank you for your time

  • @or10nsharkfin
    @or10nsharkfin Před 3 lety +14

    The M50 was my first experience at a semi-professional mirrorless camera and I mainly used it for streaming, but was disappointed by the lack of clean HDMI. I figured I could just use the micro-USB cable that I bought separately along with the dummy battery but I wasn't too keen on the quality of the camera's picture through USB. So I returned that and exchanged it for the Mark II.
    Holy damn what a difference.
    While functionally the cameras are almost the exact same to one another, the additional features for content creation that's included in the Mark II makes it an astronomically better value for me and, with it plugged into a capture card, I'm able to get that rich quality at 1080p 60fps.
    The Mark II is such a great camera.

    I think I watched 10+ of your videos back to back. My wife thinks I'm crazy (or lazy), but damn, this is research! But now I'm even more confused to which one to buy. Is there a camera that checks all these boxes?
    1. Mirrorless
    2. Easy of use
    3. Great color accuracy (really like Canon's colors)
    5. Fast auto focus
    6. Articulating LCD
    7. Minimum 1080p 24, 30, 60fps
    8. Minimum 4K 30fps full frame either natively or with the use of a lens
    9. Fast burst shots
    10. Clean HDMI out
    11. Under $800
    Help!!! Thanks!!! 😁
    11.

    Absolutelly agree 👍. After having both. The M50 and M50 Mk II. I can say, colors are too beautiful and natural that come even on 0 saturation settings out of this camera. Not speaking if the parameters are tuned up a little 🙂. It's very easily possible to get the same results like from a FF camera. Photos can be edited later on in Lightroom. Where a lots of things can be tweaked. Highlights/shadows, texture, clarity, sharpness etc... Like the fact that the M50 Mk II is small indeed, lenses also. Which is big plus and advantage to me. Depends from which angle you look on this camera... but it's even smaller than my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G 😆😅🤣. Overall what the M50 Mk II can do is incredible and camera itself is actually extremely cheap for what it has. Best buy for me so far 👍

    With the upcoming R10 and the seeming death of the M series, would you still recommend this camera? Or would you recommend something different now? I was excited for he M50 Mk2 but am now leading towards the R10. Seems better in every way.

    Hi man, thanks for the video. Is there a firmware upgrade/hack to save HD video in higher bitrate? I would love to have that. And secondly - is there any way to connect headphones to the camera? (using usb or hdmi etc...) Thanks.

    Ι have the SL2 and want upgrade or buy a new camera. Do you recommend me the M50 MarkII over the SL2? Or should I keep the SL2 and buy the M50 as well?
    Just to let you know that I bought the SL2 back in 2018 after watching your review about the camera.

    I know this was posted a 1yr ago but I am looking at buying one. Coming from a Canon 7D how is this camera compared and can I use my older lenses with this camera. I generally shoot HS Sports and Real Estate. Looking forward to your response.
