I love how you actually used each lens for each section of the video. Helps people alot to see how it actually looks! Cheers!
What a fantastic video. Thank you so much for the advice. I love how you made sure to show how each lense actually looks. Professional quality professional presentation. Can't wait to see more!
Thank you for all this great info👍🏽 I will purchasing two of your recommendations.
Outstanding video. I leaned so much watching this 👍🏿
I loved ur video, i have watched till end, thank you.. 😇😇
Hello! I want to THANK YOU for this video! Really helpful information!
I appreciate all the link you put in the description it helps a lot🤟🏼
this video is about a year old. I recently got a good price on the M50mkII with the kit 15-45mm lens. I think it is a really nice camera, small, but packed with features. I bought the regular Viltrox EF-M adapter so I can use it with my Tamron 18-400mm lens and my Tamron SP 45mm lens. (I use both those lenses on my Canon 80D) Both lenses work great on the M50mkII, focus seems to be quick and sharp, photos are clean and crisp!! For those that like to shoot only still and no video, you can always buy old film lenses adapted for the M series cameras. These are still great lenses with good glass, but manual aperture and focus. (I used a Tamron 70-210mm on a Fujifilm X-T3, the lens is a film camera lens adapted to the mirrorless Fuji. Glass was good and took excellent photos!!) That is another option for budget minded photogs. ^_^ oh, great video, thanks for the info!!! :)
Thanks for sharing! I am having for a back up camera the M50, while my main is the Nikon D7200, and I am about to get the speedbooster in order to get few EF lenses!! Your video helps a lot!!!
Thankz for the video, what would be a recommended lens for product videography.?
Amazing Lens. Very usefull tutorial.
Solid video brother!
Hello! So I can definitely purchase these lenses for the M50 mark ii. I’m new to all of this and I have to order everything.
Canon's native 11-22mm fits the camera natively no vignetting and gets a better zoom for the exact same money as the lens in this video, no adapter needed and better lens all around.
Hello!! Does the 11-22mm fit the M50 without adapter? I just bought the M50 thanks.
Bro you're very informative and I enjoyed your video. I wanted to get your suggestion on which lens to buy. I just bought a used canon m50, I've been recording car show, and need a wide lens which lens would you recommend for recording. Also do you have a video on camera setting i should use? Just trying to keep it as simple as possible, it's my first youtube page and I've never taken any class on video or picture taking, I'm sure you can tell. :)
Great video. I have the sigma 30mm 1.4 and viltrox 56mm 1.4 after selling my sigma 17-50mm 2.8. Now I want to get the 24-70mm 2.8. A little out of topic but do you mind sharing what eyeglass frame you had on you on this video?
great video, do you teach the basics for this camera? I received it as a gift and don't know much about photography.
This is a fantastic video, thank you. As a new owner of the M50 MKII I want to upgrade the kit kens and didn't have a clue where to start. Now I know exactly what I need.
Glad it was helpful!
Which did you get?
Watch it all the way and I like the 2nd one because it's affordable. Is this similar to the lens that comes with the kit?
great video!!
Thanks for the video. My M50 Mark II just arrived with the kit lens. I also have some old canon glass. 40mm, 55-200 and Sigma 17-70. I purchased the M50 primarily as a small 2nd camera. Plus I really wanted a newer Canon. I primarily shoot people and scenery. My older Canons were great but low light challenged. I see lots of options. For portraits and landscapes I see numerous choices including the Canon ef 50mm 1.8, the Canon 32, the Viltrox 33 and 56. will have to decide between the Canon 50, 32 vs Viltrox 33 and 56. Not looking to get more than 1 or 2 for now. The 40mm is already mine. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks
I am considering the Sigma 17-70 or 18-135 for my M50 II. How is your experience?
Do you have a recommendation for micro photography? I just bought the Mark ii, it came with the 15-45, but I wanted a good zoom lens too.
Good video. Thanks
50mm with the speed booster the f stops become 1.2 . Its more amazing fact to add to your awesome video.
I got my M50 MKII back in early May with the 15 to 45 kit lens. I ordered the 55 to 200 as my first telephoto and the Sigma 30mm as my first prime. Will be recieveing it later on this month. Can't wait.
Hi, Is sigma 30mm suitable for canon m50 mark ii?
I just bought the one he linked and didn’t fit my M50 Mark II 😞 I’m a newbie to camera so I’m not sure if EOS M50 Mark II is different from M50 Mark Ii
trying to decide between the RF 35mm f1.8 and the new RF 50mm f1.8, can you do a compare?
Very informative video! Down-to-Earth “real world” approach! Nice work!
I am just getting into the vlogging to compliment my nature photography and already own a Canon L 16-35mm f4. Will lose that stop of light compared to the 2.8 you recommended. But since I own it already I figure it would be better than the 15-45 kit lens. Thanks for video! Best of luck!
If you will use it with viltrox speedbooster, You will get one more stop of light, meaning f4 lens will become 2.8. Just remember to update firmware of speedbooster right away when you get it
@@zadejozef what kind of adapter will I need for my m50 if I don’t want the speed booster for the Ef 50mm f/1.8 STM
@@TwanDaEntertainer regular adapter will do the work. Canon efm to ef adapter is the most expensive. Commlite and viltrox do make affordable alternatives
Thanks for the information. I know this is an older vid, but I wanted to know about sports photography. What would be the best out of the options?
None. Get the super fast focusing Canon EF 70-300mm mk 2 and just the normal Canon adapter not the speed booster. As it has a 1.6 crop factor it equates to a 480mm lens. You will need spare batteries as it’s asking a lot from the body, but it definitely works.
Hi from research I learnt if you use a booster will affect picture quality because I am focused on photography
Hey! Amazing video! Quick question, how does the autofocus motor sound on the 24-105 setup? Is it loud?
No as it’s ultrasonic
Great video - thanks! I'm planning on getting the M50. Outside the 15-45 KIT lens, if I were to only buy one lens from Canon, what would you recommend ?
Canon M fit 22mm is excellent , small and cheap. 32mm is the very best M mount lens but expensive.
the sigma trio is (16mm 30mm 56mm) are native to ef-m and they are just amazing and not that pricey you should try them out and they outperform alot of the L series lenses that u use
sigma nuts
The Sigma 16 ef-m is my daily driver. Mostly street phototherapy. 26mm actual focal length. Slightly wide, no stretch.
Whats the best lens for vlogging and also wide screen?
@@Nineteenstarsabove i think the only one that you can vlog with is the 16mm.
@@MountaserHalak : okay. Thank You so much for your reply.
Can I use Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens for canon RP?? Dark circle will come or not??
Just got a Canon M50 two days ago thanks for the info :)
do you take off the Viltrox Speed Booster for pictures? because of the reduced quality?
I have a question. I’ve been having a my M50 for about a year now and am looking to get some better glass on my camera that isn’t too expensive. Im looking for either an M mount or EF mount lens for canon that’s somewhere in the focal range of 24-70mm or 18-55mm and an aperture of F 2.8 or higher. My price range is anything under like $600 or $700. What do you think a good lens for me is?
I'm an entry level user so sorry if this is super obvious, but what lens would work best for nature shots?
Hi could u recommend pls a lens for shooting spots as our son is a soccer player and we would like to get closer action shots of him playing. 😊
Do I need the adapter or speed boost for the 50mm to mount?
What f stop did you achieve with the speed booster on 11-16
I own the Sigma prime trio for my m50 mkii and I can say its a beast trio. I wish Sigma made efm zooms as well like a 16 - 50, 50 - 75 and 75 - 300 all f/2.8. That would be a dream
I was thinking about buying the 22mm, what do you think about it?
Hey, great video. It seems I am in a similar boat to other people in the comments. I am about to buy the m50 to use for CZcams content. The videos will be a fixed scene, me sitting talking to the cam, like your video to a in a way.
Would you say 15-45 is more applicable or 50mm with the speed booster? What would the difference be?
Thanks.
Or maybe the 11-22mm? I will be lit in my shot but the room with be relatively dark.
very informative!!!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi what lens should I use for sports photography?like basketball. I have canon m50 mark ii. Thankss.
Not sure if it’s been asked,..but I mainly shoot outdoor longer distance boating pics over water etc....wanted someone’s thoughts on this lense? Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens
Just got my first camera. And it’s the Canon M50 mark II. Would I need an adapter if I was to get the canon 50mm lenses?
Can you please do one video on canon 250D ?
Going with the 50mm
which is the best for landscape photography?! i have m50 mark II!i i need only for photography more than recording videos!
Man, please help me, I just ordered the 50mm 1.8 lens with the regular adapter not the speed booster, for my M50, you think I could get videos like you did with that equipment or I really need the speedbooster, or should I buy the EFS 24mm 2.8?
I don't understand using all adapted lenses. How is the 24-105 preferable to the native 18-150 or 55-200?
You are in focus see you perfect Tony From Liverpool England.
I would like to ask, I have a canon eos m50 mark II camera, can the canon EF 50 f1.8 STM you linked to be used with the camera without any equipment, because according to canon's official website it is not. I would like to buy it, so please answer me. Thank you very much.
16-35mm or 24-105mm which one will be best for me? I'll do vlogging and take pictures as well. Please help. I only have budget to buy one lense.
What would be your recommendation for taking action shots at motorsport events from the distance? Thanks
70 200 IS F2.8
@@EmotionalTrance what brand?
Question? Do older lenses cannon work with m50?
will viltrox reduce the focusing speed?
I am a beginner vlogger and I just want to vlog. I am a pro photographer so I have prostyle cameras for photos. Whats the best lens to just vlog? I have the 50mm!! I am about to buy the m50 mark ii. I just need to shoot video with this. Also, do I need the speed booster to vlog or is it just for photos?
A-MAZING
what's a prime lense? I am a stater in photography kindly help me know
What’s the point to use big and heavy EF mount lenses on small EF-M mount which was supposed as compact camera? And where are Sigma lenses? For sure they are the best native EF-M options on that system.
Good video
Sigma 16mm, 30mm and 56mm 1.4 for the win as far as prime lenses go. (26mm, 48mm and 90mm full frame equivalent).
Thanks for sharing, Can Nikon Lenses fit to Canon M5 MarkII?
No
gold!
try the sigma 16mm 1.4 too
Thanks, very helpful breakdown. Can you shed some light for a noob like me (going to get M50 as my first camera!)
how is the standard 15mm-45mm (that usually sold with the body) vs the 50mm you talked about here.
and if you think I should put the extra buck for the 50mm
Main usage is for youtube vids and shooting top down of a workplace (table) while doing stuff (drawing in my case :))
Thanks
The 15-45mm lens will work great for that type of video! Unless you have a speed booster, the 50mm might be too zoomed in for overhead shots like that.
@@FoxTailWhipz Thanks, sorry not adding that I did some digging after watching this about the speed booster and definitely going to get it with the 50mm (if ill take it).
Also I do have an pretty solid arm that will hold the camera so I have control over its hight above the table and actually the higher the better because now I use an iPhone camera and it need to be so low its between my head and my hands so really in is my face..
Also #2 I will do some YT stuff filming my self like a "normal" YT so that is important too.
The depth of field on the 50mm looks sooo good.. A bit worried I wont get it with the 15-45mm
@@VeryBlueBot The 50mm and speed booster is definitely the way to go then! It’s great for filming yourself as well.
@@FoxTailWhipz Perfect! Thanks a lot. And Again, great vid. Honestly? The best I could find the topic (for me at least)
Keep it up :)
Hi I’m new to cameras. I’m planning on buying the mark ii and also picking up the 50mm. I was just wondering if I needed an adapter so it could fit on the body? I’m just kinda confused if the lens needs adapter to fit on the m50 or not?
I'm new too. For all the lens he talked about? Yes you need an adapter. Lens that you can use on the M50 without an adapter are called EF M. At least Canon brands are. Cannon doesn't make a EF M 50mm lens, so if you want that you need an adapter. I think the closest you can get is with Sigma as they have a EF M 56mm lens. Then again, using the 50mm with an adapter changes the effect of the lens and I don't want to do that math and I'm not sure what would technically be closest.
what frame rate did you shoot your video in? 1080 or 4k?
would the 24-105mm f/4l is usm fit right on my normal m50, or do i need anything?
You would need an adapter
thinking about getting a speed booster with my m50 eventually, what is the main difference when using one? cause i may not get it right away
Takes photos faster & essentially it turns your camera to a full frame and will allow it to accept those options. Better low-light performance. You can then mount EF lens onto your M50
I love my M50📸❤️ I have an adapter 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I have the 24-105 but not the II
I have the m50 as well! Do you know if I need to purchase an adapter for a 50mm cannon lens?
@@morganlily. .. I purchased one so I could use my EF lenses 👍🏽
Outta all of these lenses what would be good for like music videos?
What lens is recom to use in music video ?
I learnt that the canon 24-105 lens is better for video and not for pictures since it’s an STM lens.
How true?
200d ii vs m50 inturms of picture quality... exactly same image side by side...I noticed some differences 🐼
if you have a choice between canon 24-105 mm and a sigma 18-35 mm for canon m50 which one will you choose?
For image quality 18-35 all day but if you need the longer range than you know what you need to buy.
That was super super.
what kind of adapter will I need for my m50 if I don’t want the speed booster for the Ef 50mm f/1.8 STM
I don't know if you got any answer other than here. I just got the M50mkII a couple weeks ago and I bought the Viltrox EF-M adapter. It works great with my Tamron 18-400mm lens and Tamron SP 45mm lens. errr at least it seems to work well. For video it seemed to be OK, for stills even at 400mm the focus speed was good checking between a few feet in front of me quickly going say 20 feet in front, focus was fast.
does the autofocus for video still work if we use dslr lenses?
Yes it does!
I want to get the sigma 18-35mm F 1.8 for my canon m50 MK is it’s like $630 new
What about sigma 17-50 2.8
I have an m50 mark ii, if I want to but the 50 mm EF lens do I need an adapter to mount it or can I mount it without an adapter?
You need an adapter to be able to use it
hello. does the 50mm 1.2 fit on the m50? with speed booster of course
I don't see why not. I have the massive Sigma 150-600 on my M50. Seemed awkward at first but I couldn't live without it now. You will always have to support the lens with your left hand. Plus with the M50 being mirrorless, you don't have to worry about Sigma lenses not focuses properly.
Does the Ef 50mm need an adapter and is it good for video
Yes it needs an adapter, and It’s really good for video!
You recommend lenses for Canon M50 with an EF-M mount and all you talk about is EF mount lenses... There are some great EF-M mount lenses out there, including some great manual lenses... the 22mm f/2.0, the Canon 11-22mm, The Canon 18-55mm, the Venus Laowa 9mm. This cropped-frame camera is small and light for a reason and all you do is add weight and size.. I don't get it...
I wish Sigma would release the new 18-50mm 2.8 in Canon EF-M mount!!!
The connection of the viltrox speedbooster with the eos m6 markII camera and the ef 24-105 L f4 lens does not work adequately: the camera gives an error about the communication failure with the lens contacts .., and nothing like this is observed with other lenses, including zoom lenses ... who knows what is the reason and how it is treated?!?
Nice video but you need to link the music
What adapter did you use for Rokinan 85mm?
I use the Viltrox speed booster, any EF-M to EF adapter will work though
What will you suggest for Portrait with M50 , 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 ?
The sigma 56mm 1.4 or even the sigma 30mm 1.4
How does the 15-45 kit lens compare to the 16-35 lens from the video?
Sorry if it's a stupid question, but im new to all this :)
The 16-35mm provides much better low light performance as well as better background separation.
@@FoxTailWhipz thank you for the response!
So, if I want to buy the 50 mm lens, it’s better to get the viltrox instead of the canon Ef-eos m adapter ?
The Viltrox will give you a true 50mm FOV and and better low light performance. If you are looking for a longer telephoto FOV the regular adapter will work well!
Viltrox booster only works with ef lenses, if you want to use efs too get the normal adapter
@@georgesmith3022 oh okay, so, I want to buy the canon eos m50 mark ii, can you help me to choose some lenses? for beginner photography and if its better to get the ef-eos m adapter? thank you!
So I bought the Rokinon 85mm I have a canon m50 and I used a viltrox speed booster for it to go onto my camera but when I put it on, it wasn’t letting me take any photos. I thought it was just the camera but when I took the 85mm off and used like my 50mm or kit lens it took pictures perfectly fine, is the Rokinon 85mm not compatible with the canon m50?? Please let me know
Did it ever work? I was planning on purchasing it as well
my autofocus won’t enable with the speedbooster attached. am i doing something wrong? its only giving me the MF icon
Would this be a good camera to shoot skateboarding pictures?
Yes definitely!
Did you try the dedicated Canon M lenses?
I bought the tonika per your recommendation and it does not fit on the canon m50. Am I missing something here?? Very frustrating.
You need an adaptor, the viltrox mentioned in the video and the description
