I have heard this as well. How does Bethany manage to stay as slim as a fashion model while being on clozapine for more than a decade? In another video she did mention that she took something to counteract the sedation etc. She must be taking something else for weight loss. It is unfair and misleading on her part to promote clozapine without mentioning the other drugs she takes to counteract the side effects.
Your statement is completely false. Yes clozapine has potential side effects like all antipsychotics, but people do not become vegetables. This medicine has given my son hope for a meaningful life. The symptoms of psychosis are unbearable, side effects of meds can be managed.
This drug is NOT indicated for all patients as a first line tx choice especially for uncomplicated (non psychotic) mood disorders. This woman failed everything, and had multiple evaluations so her diagnosis and treatment schedules were well documented. Each person must be evaluated thoroughly over time by a respected psychiatrist (and get a second opinion if possible), before any “dangerous” drug is instituted.
@julesdownunder it's a death-drug. I almost died from a cold-turkey withdrawal. No joke. I was on 100mg / day for 4 years. I'm still having symptoms 11 years after the withdrawal. Clozapine makes you physically dependent. You cannot simply quit or you will go through hell. However, if you get the agranulocytose (which it can cause and DOES cause) you HAVE to quit immediately. Please stay away from this rat poison. It's a cruel death-trap (as are ALL psychiatric drugs !). Many people have died from this substance already. It was already taken from the market because of this. BEWARE.

It's not just 1 or 2% , this substance destroys your immune system and your brain systematically. So each person will have to quit sooner or later. Neuroleptics aren't better than morphine to treat pain. Of course they work at first. But people are literally playing with the devil here. And clozapine is the worst of all. It IS a deadly poison and prescribing it should be a crime. I survived but my life is over, I'm still hearing voices (which I never did..) 11 years after the withdrawal. I needed 2 complicated surgeries. I lost everything. The doctor who prescribed this drug to me is now a chief doctor.. Psychiatric drugs, especially neuroleptics are NOT an option to treat anything, only as a very short term remedy. It is up there with heavy opiates, I'd say they are actually much, much worse. You can survive opiates but too many people already died from these dirty chemicals. The companies selling these should be put in jail, for lifetime. At least that's my opinion. My doctor took my life, and is even rewarded for it.

My loved one is drug resistant to the other atypical antipsychotics. So her psychiatrist put her on clozapine. Its been one year now, slowly raising her dosage to 350mg a day. It has NOT taken her hallucinations (audio, visual, tactile) away, but it DID giver her constipation, drowsiness and a heart condition (long QT syndrome) and shes currebtly wearing a heart monitor. She was working a year ago and now cannot work. Im at a loss how to proceed, i certainly dont want to up her doseage of this horrible drug.
I wish I'd been on Clozaril from the beginning in 2000. I'd have had less weight gain/appetite issues, (Seroquel) might not have ended up on 'weight neutrals' and might not have Tardive Dyskinesia. No emotional blunting, sleep hygiene, tames my hypomania, in fact, I even read one study that Clozaril only has 3% risk ratio for Tardive Dyskinesia in first five years of treatment. Clozaril is gold standard. I rejoice in the bloodwork. I'm grateful for it and try to make it fun for the lab people. If it weren't for the bloodwork, I might not be as aware of my general health!

I have stopped cold turkey and I am not doing good. But I may have to start tappering. Fucking poison dude. I quit every other antypsychotic and it was ok but there is something wrecked with this one, it is much worse. Pure hell. I am going to sue probably. Fucking tyrants.

I'm on clozapine and have been for 19 weeks and it is working really well.
I suggest you do a slow taper off. This drug is pure hell, it will kill you fast. Please beware of this poison.
