Woodturning an Acorn birdhouse from a whole log. Made from a spalted red oak log.

#Woodturning can be an expensive hobby. With the amount of money we spend on the lathe all the tools and gadgets things can add up quick. You don't need to spend a lot on wood to make something nice and interesting. In this video I make a birdhouse out of a log section that someone was discarding in a brush pile next to the curb. The log looks to be pin oak a type of red oak that has some good spalting in it. This is an easy project that anybody can do to practice end grain hollowing while making a functional turning.
