Thank you Buska for showing this. All the military bands are excellent. But the Marines love it, the marching the high level of music abilities. Are amazing. Thanks..
Good to hear Lillibulero!
Wow absolutely loved it so proud of our British soldiers 🎖💂♂️🥰
OUR SOLDIERS ARE SUPERB, NONE BETTER ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, VERY PROUD ENGLISH WOMAN. 🇬🇧
My favourite was watching how the drummers synchronized their drums sticks with musical precision *AND* seeing the soldiers playing their flutes on the rooftops that I thought was both fantastic and rather magical... Loved it and thank you Buska for sharing!! 👍
Fabulous, thank you Buska
What a presentation of skill, beauty and precision. Simply awesome. Thank you Buska, from across the pond.
Brilliant, thank you for sharing such an amazing show! I was in absolute awe, this is the first time i'm watching Beatting the Retreat! 🤩🤩🤩This is such a special display of musical and intrument-playing skills, something you don't see everyday! I only wish it were longer...
Thank you. I watched the rehearsal in the rain, now you bring us the full splendor.🇦🇺😊❤️
Fantastic
No other military band in the wold like them.
Absolutely wonderful
Thank you. I enjoyed this ❤
Was this today absolutely fantastic thank you for sharing
I think this was last weekend.
Brilliant video 👍 I thoroughly enjoyed that, I love the drummers, with all the shite going on in this country this video cheered me up, thank you Buska. 👏👏
Brilliant!!
It looks as if all the drums are bearing the cypher of King Charles 111. We forget just how much is affected. Fantastic precision from everyone.
Best in the world. Proud of our soldiers
Royal Marines, they don't like being called soldiers. The ones in red playing the flutes were in their old historic uniforms.
What No.magic flute ?
🥁🎺
Oh ......British traditions on display 🤍 and some try to say we have none 🤷♀️
Marine magnificents
Reminds me of the Swiss "Top Secret" band that go to the Edinburgh tattoo.
Wow
Brilliant but you stand to close we lost of what the drummers were doing
He may not have had a choice where to stand!
@@annstuart7076 I agree
👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊😊
The British millitary do not play flutes. The instrument you see & hear here is a FIFE.
Never heard of it
The instrument we hear from the roof top is the piccolo, aka flute soprano.
In the official video from “2022 Beating Retreat”, close up shots confirms piccolos are the instruments being played.
The fife is a lovely instrument, but over the past 200 years, musical arrangements have evolved, making it impossible to play on a fife. FWIW, I studied the flute at university.
Tks for info...I am not musical other than like listening but I do notice the difference with the different units.@@deedeesc1078
Maybe a bit pedantic but they ain’t called flutes but fifes. But an excellent show altogether. Thanks for uploading.
Tks...I did not know that....thought they were all called flutes...they did sound different I must say.
They are playing piccolo, which are one octave higher than a flute. At most, a fife has five keys and none of the holes are keyed. The instruments being played, as seen in closeups on other vids, show all holes are keyed. Over the past 200 years. Musical arrangements have become more complex and would be near impossible to play on a fife.
Also I studied flutes at university.
Why do people bother going to such wonderful scenes as this when they are so ignorant they talk all the way through it? Very distracting to those around them I’m sure.
