- The Black Watch Pipes and Drums (3 SCOTS) leading the Royal Guard from Balaklava Company, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion (5 SCOTS) out of the gates of Balmoral Castle & Estate in August 2021. These representatives of The Royal Regiment of Scotland were preparing to welcome Her Majesty the Queen, as she arrived for her summer residence in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Also present was the Royal Regiment of Scotland's Shetland pony mascot L/Cpl Cruachan IV, with handler Pony Major Mark Wilkinson.
A few years ago my mum and dad were invited to a wedding and dad wanted to wear highland dress, but couldn't find one in Forbes tartan so wore Black Watch instead. First time we'd seen him in the kilt and he looked AMAZING! Thanks Black Watch for coming to the rescue. Sadly my mum passed away two weeks after and dad passed away five years ago. I miss them both and thank them for instilling in me the pride of being a Scot. Hope to be back home in Aberdeen before too long. xxxxx♥️♥️♥️
Well you may see some changes in Aberdeen! Union terrace gardens is getting a make over, however no one knows when it will be finished! Depending when you were last in Aberdeen, Marischal College and the church at the end is all cleaned now and looking amazing. Hope you get home soon, fae an Ellon loon!
Many tartans are more universal than some people think. Black Watch is okay whether you served or not.
Even over on our side of the pond, the General MacArthur museum sells a bit of MacArthur tartan. Though I doubt ol' Doug personally ever sported the plaid.
My grandad served with the Royal marines commando in the Burma theatre. He was absolutely hooked on Scotland from his time at achnacarry. I think he considered himself an adopted son of Scotland. He was A lovely man my grandad.
I’m English but I’m proud to sharing a country with the Scot’s , we certainly would not have won the 1st and 2nd war without them
Scotland the brave !!!
As best said there will always be a England as long as they can get someone else to fight and win their wars.
@@irishjw mr mcsherry that reply was under the belt , you’re obviously a proud Scot which I admire but England have and do fight their own wars , the Scottish army is closely aligned to the English, it’s called the British army
@@peterwebster3423 Part Scot large part Irish [ don't tell anyone some English can trace back to Plantagenets ] Just let me say anyone English needs to work on there humor. Which is why I try to keep English in my bloodline quiet.
@@irishjw wow!! Ok now you’re implying I don’t have sense of humour, with respect it’s difficult having a sensible conversation with someone with underlying anti English motives
Live long and prosper mr mcsherry
@@peterwebster3423 Humor has a problem when cross culture lines. My post was American deadpan. If want I can give you Irish drunk jokes. OR the trouble between America and England is we speek two different languages.
The toughest guys ever to grace the kilt
Combination of pipes, drums and uniforms is brilliant.
GOREGEOUS SIGHT!! ABSOLUTE RESPECT TO YOU ALL!!
👏👏👍👍👋🙏🇬🇷
I saw the Black Watch here in Richmond, Va,Thanksgiving Day,in 1970,and fell in love with them. I have been a fan ever since.
They fought at the first Battle of Carillion (Fort Ticonderoga) in 1758 during the French and Indian War, refusing to retreat and suffering many casualties in what was a devastating loss for the British. There is a cairn dedicated to them on the French Lines at Fort Ti. Our public Library in Ticonderoga is called the Black Watch Memorial Library
Fort Ticonderoga was a joint operation with American Rangers. Same as in one of battles in Middle East war on terror.
They were referred to by adversaries as 'yhe ladies from hell'. That is ladies as in girls❤️
Im American born, but my mother, who's parents were from Dundee, raised me to be
Very proud of my Scottish heritage. The sound of the pipes is emotional for me. My mom took me to the games from when I was very young. I love this, and that at her age, her majesty is still quite Independent
You are bogged down, running out of ammo and out numbered. Then in the distance you hear the sound of the pipes approaching. What a sweet sound that would be.
My family members on my grandpas sides were in the black watch. Long live SCOTLAND
Wonderfully inspiring and heart warming!!! I LOVE the adorable mascot!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! Those uniforms are the best. So proud of our armed forces.
Love the unison and tap sound on the shoes, and even the pony looked ready and at attention, lol. Beautiful.
I've got goosebumps all over (wee lassie fae Scotland,)
Impressive. I could watch this all day!
How smart and professional. UK 👍
I'm not Scottish and I love bagpipes, amazing.❤❤👏👏
my gr. uncle with the Blackwatch that stormed Vimy Ridge 1917..Germans called them...ladies fom hell...last war to wear their kilts into battle.he was shot in hip but.1 in 4 of Blackwatch died that day..gr. uncle suffered shellshock and i remember him a gentle quiet man hiding in the shows...the bottle his solace...
Fun fact about the nickname
The Germans never called them "Ladies from hell" the Germans usually called them as well as the canadians, Australians, and New Zealanders that spoke english Englanders. Just like the devil dogs this nickname was probably given to them by the other Allied forces.
Awesome!
Your uncle probably new my great grandfather. He was in the Black Watch during WWI.
Splendid comment
These proud, stubborn Scots, know how to live, how to fight, how to die , true ladies from Hell.
Be proud!
It was napoleon that called them a bunch of amazon's at Waterloo
I love watching these fabulous people.
Immer wieder gern anzuschauen und die Musik dazu. PRIMA ihr Schotten.
Black Watch, regiment of my great grandfather and his brothers and father before him.
My father was with the Black Watch in WW11. He would never talk about it, but how I wish I could ask him now.
Wonderful! Thank you, friends!
Lovely march and a good brisk tempo as well! No draggin of the old legs! 😁
Beautiful song thank u blessing of God amen

I so love the perfection od drill and march. God bless the pipers as well
YES. That is the power of unity.
So proud of my Ulster Scots heritage.
AWESOME..Just spectacular.....Love all this..there's just SO MUCH good in British pomp and circumstance....Don't ever let anyone make it all stop...like BBC wants to spend LESS time on royals deaths or EVERYTHING ROYAL...No, there should be MORE!!!.MILITARY more royals ..it offers respite and hope and security and learning and witnessing history from beginning to present times all in one royal/military engagement one watches....It shows strength and all will be well cause just LOOK at who's keeping us safe..these strong disciplined warriors you see in all their finest...don't ever stop doing this...sincerely An American cousin 🇬🇧🇺🇲❤
P.S. I'm truly very sorry about inflicting biden on you...I DID NOT vote for him but We the People are very sorry🥺😪
Sorry it's not British, it's Scottish! Pomp and circumstance!
Immaculate ceremonial and turnout. They have every reason to be proud of their history.
I love watching them!
Always well done. Very classy. 👍👏👏😊
Great to get Bands band on the road! I got The Royal Marines Band today at Dunfermline!
The drum major looks formidable. Can understand where the Scottish forces arrived at their reputation as the fiercest fighters.
And that´s why i love the britisch (including the welsh and the scots) Army. And I´m a German. Two times overall Looser in the last two World Wars. But never the less. The britisch drill is today outtstanding. 🥰
Don't forget the Royal Irish Regiment in your British army list. For King and Country.
We do it very well. And our special forces use German made assault rifles and probably drive German cars. Germany has re-invented itself....we are friends and we admire each other. Together we are stronger. The German nation is a good nation...a nation of good people...amazing skills and attention to detail. And we share a love of beer! Alles ist gut!
A bucket list item for me!!! My GG Grandfather had the honor of being part of the Regiments of Foot in the 1860s in Perth Scotland. Will visit !!!!
The fourty twa is my favorite pipe band. I am part Munro. The first regimental executive officer and first regimental surgeon were Munro. Proud of them.
L/Corp Cruachan looking as handsome as ever, lovely pipe harmonies.
Corporal now!
@@JimRamsayJWRyes thanks Jim.
Cruachan IV was promoted to Corporal in 2017!
Fantastic just look at them 😍
I could watch this, and all other similar videos, call day long... they're just wonderful. Don't we Brits put on the best ceremonial show ever. And we shoukd remember all these serving personnel are our protectors when needed. E❤

Love the music enjoy watching new here
Charming display such a smart band of men
So proud goose bumps.
Makes your British heart swell with pride, thank you Jocks. Do we really want self seeking politicians to deprive us of this?
A former Comrade of mine from the Royal Canadian Legion served in the Black Watch. The Tartan is derived from the original clan Campbell Tartan. My great-great-grandfather was a Campbell.
My blood boils, a chill runs up my spine, and I can't catch my breath!
Wonderful 👏👏
I love this music and the Ceremonial!
Siete veramente meravigliosi. Vi amo 💓💓💓💓
Love the British Garde and of course the Bagpipes 🎼🥁💂
No toy soldiers there. Some seriously big units on parade. Love Cruachan!
Respects and condolences to the royal majesty and the royal family.
Lovely 😍 🏴
LOVE THE PIPES !
Pretty bloody stirring stuff.
This is UK watch and salute ❤
The US Army can have their silent drill teams, but this is professional soldiery at its finest. Plus I also have a soft spot for The Black watch (3 Scots).
Cute pony~ ☺💖
God save the Queen 👑

Outstanding Drill

Wow, these are secular traditions! Rigor and discipline!
Sam emma Amy never forget your roots !!!!! Love you 😍 💗 💓 💛
Cruachan has been known to be a bit naughty. One year he ate the Queen's posy of flowers, another year he did a poop in Her Majesty's presence.
Sou do Brasil também é adorei o desfile. Parabéns.
Lindo, né Ronaldo? Boa tarde.
Th black wath
lonely top, always welcome 👌👌👌👍👍👍
Einfach Genial Einfach Genial, da sieht man das die Schotten ein sehr sehr Schtolzes Volk sind nur so Weiter.
I always imagine what it was like back then, marching towards you like that. You have the feeling that a stone wall is stepping aside.
👏
Fine post in every regard
These lads are setting a pretty good pace!
I played golf in this castle a couple of times 😉. One day we were welcome by the special branch ! We were not alone that day...She was still driving the land rover at that time 😉
My, my, they're going at a fair old skelp!! 😃
This is the brave's lullaby , and the cradle of soul ,

I absolutely enjoyed this military display. The Black Watch has uniforms dating from the 1850's, but they are carrying modern assault rifles.
Wow! How smart you are! Do you know what secular traditions are?
The Black Watch are not carrying any weapons in this video,
The Black Watch, (correct name, 3 SCOTS, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland) provide the band.
The other soldiers are members of 5 SCOTS, Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, RRos.
Balaklava are the ceremonial unit of the RRoS and provide the Royal Guard. As they do not have a band, the remaining Battalion Pipe Bands take it in turn to represent the regiment at Balmoral.
@@Backs4more You are absolutely correct. Had I paid more attention to the title of the video, I would have realized it was the Royal Guard carrying the modern day assault rifles.
Damned fine soldiers.
I love this great music. Greetings always from Algeria to all the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain London and especially the free Scotland I wish to marry a woman from Scotland with all my heart May the soul of Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace
Makes my heart sing.
